Wealth progression in Society play

Hi there!

I'm trying to plan out the career of my current character crush, a Guide Ranger 1/Archivist Bard 1, and my lack of experience playing anything beyond low-level scenarios is hampering me a bit on projecting what items and equipment he (may) get when.

I think I now have a good understanding of "Always Available Items" and of Table 5-3: Fame and Item Purchases at p. 26 of the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play, but I haven't found anything definitive about average wealth gained per scenario or per character level in Society play.

Right now, I'm figuring on him gaining 1 Experience Point and 1.5 Prestige Points per scenario played, but any guidance anyone can offer about average gold by tier per scenario would be greatly appreciate.

[As an example, Silas's three adventures so far netted him 607 gp from Scenario 43: "The Pallid Plague," 553 gp from Scenario 39: "The Citadel of Flame," and 775 gp from Scenario 24: "Decline of Glory." So right now I'm figuring that if he continues to play at Tier 1-2 for his next three adventures (and survives them) he can reasonably expect to net approximately 645 gp in each of them. He also has a GM Chronicle awaiting him from my running #4-09: "The Blakros Matrimony" at Tier 3-4, so I have one data point each for normal progression wealth at Subtiers 3-4 and 6-7 to look at.]

Of course, not knowing definitively what subtiers he'll be playing each scenario at hampers this projection somewhat--but I figured I would just be conservative and make my forecasts based on him always playing the subtier that matches his level (playing down twice and up once for levels like 5, which don't seem to have subtiers).

When I (over) plan what I want to buy for my PCs, I just make a list of stuff. I don't try to figure in advance how long it will take to be able to afford each item. You'll get there when you get there.

I keep hearing about some "wealth by level" (WBL) chart in one of the books, but I've never bothered to look it up. It may even be in the Core Rulebook. Supposedly, PFS wealth follows this relatively closely.

But just off the top of my head, I'd say subtier 1-2 usually pays about 550-650 gold, subtier 3-4 is usually 1200-1400, and subtier 4-5 is more like 1500-1700. I think 5-6 puts you in the 2000-2200 range, and you start hitting 3000 per scenario above that. But I could be way off - I'm going roughly from memory.

And of course, if you ever play up or down, or play a module instead of a scenario, that'll throw things off, too. Which is why I don't try to figure it in advance.

Here's one guy's calculations.

Liberty's Edge 3/5

The Official Wealth By Level (TM) Chart
Level Wealth
2 1,000 gp
3 3,000 gp
4 6,000 gp
5 10,500 gp
6 16,000 gp
7 23,500 gp
8 33,000 gp
9 46,000 gp
10 62,000 gp
11 82,000 gp
12 108,000 gp

That said, I invariably play up when offered the chance, (though I may start making exceptions for Season 4) so I find the WBL table to be a bit inaccurate. My 6th level Ninja is closer to 23k, and my 9th level bard has well over 85k in total wealth.

Like Fromper, I tend to just write up a priority list and go from there. I find I adjust priorities a great deal based on my experiences in modules (for example, I'm intending on buying additional Mnemonic Robes as soon as I can, just because the one I have is so bloody useful.)

The link hogarth provided is a very good indication. Playing up will of course yield more gold, but should in turn cost you more resources/consumables. So his numbers are a good guide.

Speaking of consumables, do not forget to take them into account! An un-official local rule is to always plan to spend 10% of your wealth in consumables. (which happens to roughly correspond to the difference in the table Joe Caubo put together and the table in the CRB, coincidentally)

Just looking at the chronicles I played, here's what I came up with for average money per chronicle by tier.
Sub 1: 412gp
Sub 1-2: 511gp
Sub 3-4: 1289gp
Sub 4-5: 1775gp
Sub 6-7: 3110gp
Sub 7-8: 4398gp
Sub 10-11: 7703gp

I'm hoping to, next Paizocon. =)

One of the reasons it's been invariable up till now is that I've had a scroll of Summon Monster VI in my handy haversack since level 5. I figured a celestial dire tiger would fix any possible problem, and the difference in gold per scenario has made the investment worth it.

Now that I'm doing tier 10-11, it matters less, sadly.

PFS wealth Here's mine, it goes off the rounded average of season 3 scenarios for the subtiers. I calculated it based on never playing up, but always playing the bottom of relevant sub-tier. IE at leve 3 you play 3-4s, at level 4 your play 4-5s, ect.

Basically it's the best gold you can get GMing, not counting modules :D

I will bring the custom made tear collector so that not a drop of their deliciousness will be wasted.

;-)

I find the list of items to purchase to be incredibly useful. Sometimes it allows me to buy items in about five minutes, and then get some food, which I find to be incredibly useful between slots.
