Vixie says something, but it's very high-pitched and squeaky and it's very hard to make out any actual words. She desperately rubs at her own cheeks, as they have grown sore from all the blushing.

"Well, unless we're planning on foraging or putting one of these beautiful tasty-looking walking mutton to our own use, we should probably move along a bit more before setting up camp, as I didn't bring a *lot* of food with me?" Maxilla offers as a total mood-breaker.


Holgast gives the party a wave. "Fare thee well, then!"

He takes several steps away, speaks another incantation, and lifts off the ground. He takes to the air and flies back in the direction of Kassen.

The trail gets rough as the party heads south of the glade of fallen trees. The foliage overhead becomes dense, with sunlight barely able to break through the canopy to light the party's way.

Someone please give me a Survival check, courtesy of the map. Everyone may aid on this check.

If you rolled higher than a 10, you manage to find a path leading to the south--according to your map, it should lead to the Crypt.

I put my one and only skill point into Survival and look what it gets me!

"O-oh, wow..." whispers Vixie in hushed awe as the wizard soars into the sky.

She checks on the sheep, petting and kissing each on the forehead before the group moves on. She's aware that they need to be heading south... but isn't personally sure which direction that might be. She's gotten a little disoriented ever since the orcs.

When Vixie moves over to do whatever strange ovid ritual she does with the sheep, the little dragon looks for the path that the party is supposed to be on.

"I think I found it, just past this treeline here! No, not the place, the path to the place!"

Adriana sighs and looks around...

Following the path Maxilla & Adriana found, the party treks to the south, over hill and glade. The sound of crunching leaves accompanies them, with a sharp breeze blowing through the trees causing a great rustling noise behind them. The sheep obediently follow the party, staying close to Vixie the entire time.

The sun is beginning to set... and the wind has died down.

Whoever's interested, would you kindly give me a Survival check to find a place to set camp?

After Rolling:
If you roll over a 10, you find a nice flat spot to set up camp. Good thing too--no one likes sleeping on lumpy, rocky ground.

"W-we should set up camp soon," says the halfling; it's been a fair day of walking, and between her backpack and her armor, her knees are getting sore.

It's another few minutes' trek, but soon she points out a fair spot for the camp. "Th-this should do! U-unless we want to walk any further..." It's clear from her tone that she doesn't want to walk further, at least.

She shrugs off her backpack and lets it drop against a tree, stretching her back and shoulders.

Khalaban opened his mouth to 'help' find a suitable camp site...then closed it with a click. The campsite Vixie had chosen was good, and it was the least he'd heard her stutter. Nodding, Khalaban unshouldered his bag and set it down with an earth shaking thud.

Sliding his armoured coat off, Khalaban rolled his shoulders. "Let us begin the chores, then, so that we might relax." Kneeling beside his pack, he began to sort it out. "First, we should decide on who is putting the tent up. If you all have your own, I shall of course put it up myself, but I have room for those who do not mind sharing." The tent was, indeed, quite a Large Tent.

Pulling out cooking supplies, he added, "I can also cook, but if others would prefer to do so - or to assist - I am happy as well. I have the supplies to cook, and some food as well..." A lot of food, if the truth were known. "Alas, I have something of an appetite. Once we have a warm meal in our bellies we can discuss a roster for guard duty." And coffee.

Adriana leads a single sheep out at about 15 feet from the center and tie it to a tree. She than does this with the others evenly spacing them around thecamp.

Maxilla takes some time to look for a good tree that's high enough to avoid most ground predators but high enough to avoid flying predators to their estimation, and will help wash dishes and whatnot before setting up in a little nest on the tree branch they found.

Vixie follows behind Adriana, quietly instructing each one of the sheep to yell if they see or hear anything dangerous in the woods and promising that she won't let anything bad happen to them.


The party settles in for the night, with their Mutton-brand alarm system set up and ready... well, mostly. Some of the sheep are taking their time grazing.

The sky overhead is clear, and what little moonlight can be seen through the canopy bathes the campsite in a somber pale glow. The sheep & most of the party are sound asleep, and barely any noise can be heard...

...until the lonely, mournful howling begins, in the distance. The underbrush snaps and cracks.

Something's coming.

Khalaban creaks open an eye with a sigh. He did not like being awoken. Rising to his feet, grabbed his armoured coat off his armour trestle and threw it on (the joy of wearing the coat was that it was fast) and grabbed his shield too.

Stepping out of the tent, Khalaban looked around. He not be wearing trousers, but he was as prepared as he was going to get.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Khalaban's coat can be donned with a Move action, and the Shield with a Standard. He considers pants optional.

There is a rustling from Adriana's bedroll, and Vixie swiftly emerges from the bottom, dressed in only her scant nightclothes, hair tied into a very wavy ponytail.

"Th-the wolves are c-coming!" she squeaks, trotting to the exit of the tent and grabbing her shield and trident. She doesn't wait for her allies to get fully prepared before heading in the direction of the sheep nearest the sounds.

For a halfling, she's actually quite fast.

Without armor, she's going to be at 16 base AC. She'll be fighting defensively, though, so that's going to be a +4.

Adriana rolls out ofherbedroll...reaching for her blade. She says as she notice Vixie heading towards the sheep,

"Remember the plan is to allow them to take the sheep."

Bertrand yawns groggily, grabbing his crossbow and bolts. "These beasts will pay dearly for disturbing my beauty sleep." He jogs after the others.

Adriana realizing Calistria's wisdom in warning against relationships gets up to follow Vixie. Though nor knowing what relationship she is referring to...hers and Vixie's or Vixie's and the sheeps.


The howling gets louder every few minutes... but when the howls seem to be coming from a stone's throw away from the camp, they stop.

A few minutes pass. Then a few more.

Nothing happens.

No predators leap from the shadows, no beasts stalk into the fading firelight. The sheep, however, are still quite agitated, BAAing and bleating in distress. One tries to chew its way through the rope tethering it, another can't stop stomping their feet.

Stalking the edge of the firelight, eyes on either a sheep or one of the party, is a grey-furred wolf that looks emaciated. Its fur is matted and covered in old blood, and pale blue fire highlights its eyes. Even a cursory examination of this animal would reveal something is very wrong here.

DC 15 Perception:
...wait. There's another. Also bloodied, also starved, also with blue fire in its eyes.

DC 18 Perception:
There's three. All of them converging on the camp.

DC 20 Perception:
Make that five.

DC 23 Perception:
Or, rather, six.

Everyone will have time to don their armour & things before the wolves arrive!

When the wolves still seem far off, Vixie whispers to Adriana to ask her to bring her kikko and help her into it; by the time the wolves arrive, she is properly suited up, and has her shield and trident in hand.

She trots forward, clinking and jingling as she goes, and positions herself in front of one of the sheep. "I-I won't let you g-get eaten!" she assures, shield raised.

Move action to move, standard to enter Total Defense. Vixie's AC is at 27, any nearby allies (including and especially sheep) gain +3 AC.


Just realized I forgot to roll initiative for the sheep.

Initiative (Sheep): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20

So they'll also act before the wolves.

Adriana sighs and steps next to Vixie. When she sees one approaching she says,

"MAY Calistria grant you a quick death!"

A jet of fire shoots out of her hand...

Adriana's jet of fire strikes the wolf squarely in the nose. It yelps in pain as a flash of burning magic briefly envelops it, singing off much of its fur. It's still standing, but wobbly.

Khalaban was vaguely surprised at how many of the wolves - if they could be called wolves still - had escaped his eye. Still, he didn't need to see all of them. Just the ones he was fighting.

Focusing on the South side, Khalaban charged in. Hopefully the sheep to the North would keep the ones there busy, and the loss of one or two not break Vixie's heart too badly.

Maxilla rolls over in their sleep and snorts a bit, then sniffs, then blearily peers at the scene unfolding with the decidedly not-natural looking wolves. Rather than move from their little tree-bound nest, they close their eyes briefly.

Oh Mighty Dragon of Goodness, please smite these ailing wolves.

Heavenly Fire:
Heavenly Fire (Sp): Starting at 1st level, you can unleash a ray of heavenly fire as a standard action, targeting any foe within 30 feet as a ranged touch attack. Against evil creatures, this ray deals 1d4 points of damage + 1 for every two sorcerer levels you possess. This damage is divine and not subject to energy resistance or immunity. This ray heals good creatures of 1d4 points of damage + 1 for every two sorcerer levels you possess. A good creature cannot benefit from your heavenly fire more than once per day. Neutral creatures are neither harmed nor healed by this effect. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Charisma modifier.


Maxilla's ray flies into the dirt & scorches the grass without hitting their target.

The sheep fly into a collective panic and start running for the centre of the camp, straining at their leashes, bleating in terror. The wolves on the north side of the camp leap at the sheep, their jaws gnashing!

Bite (Red): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

One wolf leaps at a sheep and nosedives into the dirt as the fluffy animal runs away...

Bite (Magenta): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

...and another skids into the tree Maxilla was sleeping in.

One wolf runs behind Khalaban and tries to bring the massive man down...

Bite (Cyan): 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 + 2 = 13

...while the wounded one bites back!

Bite (Orange): 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 + 2 = 11

In a scene from a grim fairy tale, both wolves leap upon Khalaban, but he flexes them off with ease. They fall to the ground, still hungry.

The wolf Adriana burned howls at her and rushes at her!

Bite (Yellow): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

And another wolf comes barreling in at Vixie!

Bite (Dark Blue): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Neither wolf finds their mark, thanks in equal part to Vixie's shield & Adriana's reflexes!

"I am not delicious!" Khalaban bellowed, dodging the wolf bite and swining once more as the club re-appeared.

Khalaban's earthen club launches the first wolf several feet away from him, landing in a crumpled bloody heap.

Both Vixie & Adriana easily manage to fell a wolf each--Vixie finishing off the burned wolf and Adriana gutting the wolf that leapt at Vixie. The blue fire in their eyes sputters out and dies as they fall to the ground.

Maxilla aims another bolt of holy fire at the wounded wolf beneath their tree.

Crit Damage!: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4

The ray of fire strikes the wolf in the back, causing the blue fire in its eyes to flare up and the beast to howl in pain.

Two of the sheep, cornered by wolves, start to fight back by biting!

Sheep Chomp vs. Magenta: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4

Sheep Chomp vs. Red: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

The maimed wolf is taken off-guard by one of the sheep's desperation, and its throat gets torn open by the herd animal's teeth. It falls over at the frightened sheep's feet.

Two wolves remain, and they don't seem inclined to leave. Any other pack would've fled by now...

Bite (Cyan): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

The wolves leap at a sheep and at Khalaban, but once again neither one of them finds their mark. Their movements become jerkier & more erratic.

These wolves... they're moving as though something else is controlling them.

Bertrand frowns. "These wolves..." he calls out. "Their minds are not their own! Something is manipulating them!"


Bertrand's second bolt strikes the wolf in its burning blue eye, felling it with a single shot.

Round 3: The party is up! FINISH HIM!

Vixie quickly surveys the battlefield, seeing fallen wolves and standing sheep all over. Her heart soars, especially when she finds that the last lupine standing is bouncing off of Khalaban's mighty shield.

With a spring in her step, the halfling runs after it, moving in behind the wolf and forcing it to divide its attention.

Vixie has lost her Dex bonus to AC (so she's now at 18 AC), but Khalaban is now flanking. c:

Oh, and Bertrand! Quick rule regarding Crits: if you Crit, you roll damage again. So instead of 1d8, you'd roll 2d8 instead of just straight-up doubling your 1d8.
