RULES: TRADERS:
In Season of Plundered Tombs, traders work differently than in Mummy’s Mask, in the following ways.
• When you are rewarded with a trader, instead of checking it off on the Bazaar card, record it on your Chronicle sheet.
• You do not visit traders after winning a scenario. Instead, at the start of each scenario in this Adventure Path, before setting out the locations, you may visit 1 trader you have recorded on your Chronicle sheet.
• Pay the trade cost with the usual number and type of cards from your deck, but instead of putting those cards in the box, put 1 in to your deck box and bury any others.
• At the end of the scenario, return the card you traded for to the game box, and put the card you returned to your deck box back into your deck.
For example, to pay the trade cost to a trader offering spells at a cost of 2 boons, put 1 of those boons into your deck box, bury the other boon, then add the spell to your deck. At the end of the scenario, return the spell to the game box and put the first boon back in your deck.

DURING THIS ADVENTURE:
The scourge die is 1d6.
When you are dealt Fire damage, if that damage is not reduced by at least 1, suffer the scourge Curse of Withering.
Before building the location decks, choose and set aside a random ally that has the Aspis trait from the box. At the start of the first turn, choose a character to draw that ally.

Speaking of turn order- who goes first?
Continuing on from Skizza doesn’t have much meaning, with new folk added and turn order disrupted.
1d6? Some strategic consideration? Whatever requires the least database finagling?

The Exchange

Deck Handler

Yeah, I am out of my posting block for another 9 or so hours.

I will review traders and can do starting hand at least in between meetings so it can start with another.

Silver Crusade

Deck Handler // Searching for: Blessing 6 > Spell 6 > Spell 5 > Item 4

I was going to start with Skizza, but how about we start with Estra instead, since I'm also going to be posting the scenario start anyway? (I cannot post for another 6 or so hours, though, most likely.)

That is assuming we get Loot/Trades sorted out by then. Since Cogsnap isn't going to Trade, and Loot options won't affect the location decks, I suppose we can start after Skizza makes his decisions at the earliest.

(If it's faster for people, I can provide the Trader options and let people make those decisions via Hangouts. It's the only thing which must be completed before a scenario begins, to be strict.)

Would it be possible for Hawkmoon to put the new turn order into the thread header? (Perhaps collapsing the henchmen to make room?)

Hey guys, sorry I haven’t been updating like the rest of you. I have a few other games and dental surgery coming up. I feel bad but I just haven’t been on top of things.

I tend not to go to traders or up for loot. For one thing, I started play at 3-2A as my first XP, so keeping track of what I have vs what I don’t have is a pain and secondly. . . I like my deck pretty solidly. No major upgrades until I’m allowed to put 4s in my deck, and that won’t come for 2 more sessions.

That's okay, but I have been putting quite a lot of effort into keeping the Loot Tracking Sheet updated and clarified as to what Cogsnap can and can't use, and I confess I'd be disappointed if the effort was for naught for the party.

The best thing about Traders, in my opinion, is the ability to change around your card types. Being able to trade away an armor for an item or a spell seems invaluable to me, and being able to pull from Mummy's Mask gives you a greater degree of overall options.

But it is entirely your decision to make, and I'm aware that I often come across as unintentionally overbearing, so I'll respect your decision and not raise it again. I'll assume, unless listed otherwise, that you won't take Loot and that you will follow a random valid player to their Trader to give them an extra option.

I'll be posting a scenario update in about 5-10 minutes, and it will be Cogsnap's turn, to clarify.

Cogsnap already acquired Khelru and Twitch Tonic on the previous turn.
(Might need Hawkmoon or Yewstance to untangle?)

Lini's deck Searching for: Spell 4, Spell 6, Blessing 6

Ugh. I was double checking the rules as I went but forgot to check that. And I discarded both to explore so it wouldn't be a minor edit. It's past 1: 00 AM here and I need sleep. Sorry for the foul-up. I can retake my turn in the morning.

Give me a sec and I'll put out an update.

I was going to point out to Cogsnap that players may continue their turn even after closing a location, since they're automatically moved to a new location, in case he wanted to use Khelru or Twitch Tonic to explore more. But Lini's just blitzed through 2 location decks in record time, so it hardly seems to matter.

As for the magically appearing extra ally, item and exploration... well it's safe to say that Lini would've acquired whatever ally she summoned with her bonuses, her huge wisdom and the Binder's Tomes, so it's not too bad. However, what I will do is the following to fix this.

  • Lini should remove Khelru and Twitch Tonic from her deck handler. Lini can draw a new card to replace Khelru.
  • I will shuffle an additional random item and ally into the Great Library of Tephu.

The extra cards should ensure that no deck upgrades were lost in the mixup, but should also slow the players down a bit to make up for the bonus exploration that may not have been earned.

EDIT: Also, the Shock Lizard super shouldn't have been in the location decks. I requested that the admins add deck C (a requirement, since we're a 6 player party) without basics, because we're in AD4, but clearly part of the memo was missed. Can't really be helped; we'll just let it go for now and I've put in another request to clean Basics from the box.

I won't ask Lini to summon a new random ally retroactively, but I will ask other players to do so in the future. If a basic bane or boon is encountered, please replace it with a random one.

  • Lini's deck Searching for: Spell 4, Spell 6, Blessing 6

Much better for us then retaking my turn. Thanks.
Removed Khelru drew Shattertouch Shotel +2.

    Scarab Sages

If AAUGHWHY (or anyone else for that matter) is interested in the lore of Rahadum: here it is in a nutshell:

Rahadum was a land that was once ravaged by natural disasters, so much so that the people believed that the gods forsook them. (I think there was a holy war in there too somewhere?) Anyway, the people of the land decided to 'go it alone' and make a land without religion, forsaking religion or divine power of any kind.

In RPG terms, they actually don't mind arcane casting, and actually welcome bards (in the RPG, bards cast arcane spells but also have access to healing magic.) However, they are super against divine magic of any kind. So they hate druids and shaman, even if they don't worship gods at all (druids can worship the green faith, Shamen worship spirits, but since it's divine magic they hate it regardless.)

Interestingly enough, if our group was in the RPG, only Lini would have troubles, because Estra is a spiritualist (psychic caster, which they technically don't have problems with) Drago and Qualzar are wizards, I'm an alchemist, and Skizza doesn't use magic at all. None of them use 'divine magic' even though some of the magic they cast also happens to show up on the divne casters' spell lists.

Skizza would have gotten cursed by Fire damage. Qualzar could display Elemental Treaty to prevent that (and 1 Fire damage) if you want, but maybe it's easier for Skizza to just Game of Afterlife?

Hope you're doing okay, VampByDay. Wisdom teeth, ouch :(

Lini's deck Searching for: Spell 4, Spell 6, Blessing 6

For chronicle record keeping Lini used 1 die bump during this scenario.

    Silver Crusade

    Deck Handler // Searching for: Blessing 6 > Spell 6 > Spell 5 > Item 4

    Thanks for noting it here!

For Scenario 3-4A: ESCAPE FROM MANAKET...

For Estra's Power Feat, she'll check off...
When you succeed at a combat ([X] or Charisma) check, you may draw a card ([ ] or shuffle a random card from your discard pile into your deck).

For Estra's Card Upgrade, she has a very strong preference for:

  • Item 4: Replace Lithomancy Stones with Codex of Conversations (Hell's Vengeance 2). Item 4: 1d1000 ⇒ 179

I will consider Estra to be a low priority for all other deck upgrades during this adventure if it's okay for her to take the Codex now. Codex of Conversations is one part of a key "Combo" that I've been looking to test out with Estra for some time, as it (and Neferekhu) allow me to 'force' Charisma checks that will then draw me cards, greatly prolonging my turns.

As I have mentioned in Hangouts, In the event that this strategy is in any way impacting the fun of other players of the table, please let myself (or Hawkmoon) know and I will refrain from using it in the future.

Most likely, I'd do so by not taking Neferekhu, replacing Codex of Conversations, or simply choosing not to draw cards off the power (or if I do, I'd only do it a limited number of times per turn).

    =====================

Estra will go to the Auction House Trader for Scenario 3-4B.

  • Lini's deck Searching for: Spell 4, Spell 6, Blessing 6

    Desired upgrades in order.

    ally 4: 1d1000 ⇒ 234
    spell 3: 1d1000 ⇒ 725
    ally 3: 1d1000 ⇒ 121
    spell 4: 1d1000 ⇒ 554

Lini will be visiting Smiths of Wati again.

She would like to use Sun Falcon Pectoral again and Natron Fang if the smiths don't offer a good weapon.

    Yay!
I'd like the Armor 4, but I think I could take a Blessing instead if someone else is interested.
Need to think a little on my skill feat. I was expecting to take CHA +3 before INT +2, but now there's all these Binder's Tomes bouncing around, and I'm not certain what my next power feat is either.

Could we get the card type counts for the locations in the new scenario?

Lini's deck Searching for: Spell 4, Spell 6, Blessing 6

2 things to remember about the tomes.

    1. You won't always be at the same location as a tome.

    2. In a couple of months or so 2E is released and you can only benefit from one card of each type per check period. Unless the card says otherwise. So only 1 tome max. Only one blessing max which will make boss fights interesting.

    Darago's Deck // Searching For: Item 5>Weapon 5>>Spell 5>>>Weapon 4

Hmm... I'm interested in an Item 4, but I don't need it too much; consider me lowest priority for it.

I'll visit Hadden Hoppert for the next scenario.

Yes please, if its not too much trouble! I liked this so much that I took the idea when I started BR-ing my own table.

    EmpTyger wrote:

That's annoying, I thought the scenario update automatically included those for turn 0. What's the point of the special Turn 0 update if it doesn't?

I'll make another post with them shortly.

I'm interested in only the Ally 3, but I'm honestly fine not getting it.

    Ally 3: 1d1 ⇒ 1

No feats. You can fight over where you want me to show up for traders but as I said in hangouts, I really like my deck ratio.

After this next adventure though, I'm going to REALLY want some Item 4s for more alchemical boom-boom

    The Exchange

    Skill Feat: Dexterity.

    Trader: Hadden Hoppert.

    Ally 4: 1d1000 ⇒ 251 Master Gunner to Swiftshooter.
Item 4: 1d1000 ⇒ 137 Alchemical Cartridges to Dragonbreath Shot.
Ally 3: 1d1000 ⇒ 56 Master Gunner to Hatchet Bird.

    3-4A Upgrade Summary

  • Skizza - Ally 4 + Skill Feat (Dex)
  • Estra - Item 4 + Power Feat ("or Charisma")
  • Cogsnap - Ally 3
  • Lini - Spell 3
  • Darago - Item 4
  • Qualzar - Armor 4 + Skill Feat (?)

  • Went back and forth a bunch, but settled on CHA +3 to keep some options open.

AAUGHWHY, trading thoughts? I'm interested in either Safety Bubble or Ice Storm, but no preference for which.

Elemental Treaty and Remove Curse would both seem to be useful this scenario, but I'm not sure I have the slots for both. Does anyone else have space for 1?

    Silver Crusade

    Deck Handler // Searching for: Blessing 6 > Spell 6 > Spell 5 > Item 4

So a few things about my turn.

  • So, Codex of Conversations & Neferekhu work really well with Estra. Since she also draws cards from passing combats and acquired allies provide more explorations and draws, I'm pretty sure I could extend my turns almost indefinitely with such interactions.
  • If I focus taking deck upgrades on cards that will let me move, I should be able to exploit the draw power even more for longer turns.
  • That was also really tiring to writeup, I might have to utilize more shorthand and stop prescriptively explaining every action I'm taking and every card I'm playing. Both Codex of Conversations and Neferekhu are triggering more checks on top of cards that already trigger more checks (like spells).

Also, based on a question I just got an answer to on Discord, at least one experienced player (skizzerz) actually thinks I should be rolling for Codex of Conversations before my exploration, so I'll do that in the future (even though I kinda think that violates "Finish one thing before you start another", when "one thing" in this case should surely be playing the ally for an exploration?).

With all that said and done, I'd like to again re-iterate that I'm happy to apply any suggested nerf, or simply change what kind of deck upgrades and loot I take, in order to limit this strategy's effectiveness. I didn't know before taking that turn how well the strategy would work for certain, but it's pretty clear that the answer is "a lot". I ended the turn with more cards in hand and more cards in deck than I started with, after all.

Last but not least, EmpTyger correctly pointed out that you actually can't close a location you're not at; I was wrong when I ruled otherwise earlier.

  • Both Cogsnap and Lini examined and topdecked Earthworks 8. Earthworks 7 is also an ally that Darago couldn't acquire (Terkh Fourwinds). Should I retcon to the correct order, so that Darago -> Terkh, then Qualzar -> Qasin? Or let it stand, with Darago -> Qasin, then Qualzar Terkh?

Either way, it's a bit late, so I'm going to take my turn in the morning.

For Estra's Card Upgrade, her preferences are as follows:

  • Item 4: Replace Byzantine Lexicon with Tome of Origami Animals (Occult Adventures 1). Item 4 - Low Priority: 1d1 ⇒ 1
  • Spell 4: Replace Inflict Pain with Hypercognition (Occult Adventures 1). Spell 4 - Low Priority: 1d1 ⇒ 1
  • Ally 2: Replace Idorii with Ghost Rider (Occult Adventures 1). Ally 2: 1d1000 ⇒ 364

    =====================

Estra will go to the Auction House Trader for Scenario 3-4C.

  • Oh, and Hadden Hoppert.

Okay, so, here's what I'm doing:
1)Take the early rank up to 4
    2) Gain the Blood Bomber role
3)Take the Card Feat "armor," fill with Basic Tussah Silk Coat
    4) Take the Item 4 as a Deck upgrade-replace an alchemist's fire with Alkalai Flask

    3-4B Upgrade Summary

  • Skizza - Weapon 4 + Power Feat ("When you attempt a check to acquire...")
  • Estra - Spell 4
  • Cogsnap - Item 4 + Card Feat (Armor) + TIER UP + Power Feat (???)
  • Lini - Blessing 4
  • Darago - Spell 4
  • Qualzar - Spell 4 + Power Feat ("+3")

(Note to self: Lini used a die bump in 3-4A, for Chronicle Sheet purposes, and Qualzar's last Skill Feat in Charisma.)

  • An announcement to players; I've been given Hawkmoon's blessing to count this table under the currently in-progress Outpost II event, which runs from March 11 to May 6.

What does this mean for all of you? It means that players on this table are entitled to roll for Convention boons. For every 2 scenarios that we complete (that we both started and finished during the event) players may roll a 1d20. On a 1 or a 20, they'll earn a copy of the following boon, which they may apply to any single PACG character they have or make.

    Outpost II Player Boon wrote:
    □ □ □ □ Amateur Swashbuckler: You may check an unchecked box that precedes this reward to add or remove the Swashbuckling trait from your check. If your character has the Swashbuckler trait, you may add an additional 1d4.

(So far, we've only completed 1 scenario since the 11th, so no rolls yet.)

So it turns out I was somewhat mistaken about the interpretation of the last scenario's rewards, so I'll be amending it during this scenario's rewards when we finish.

    What I did wrong:
"Draw X from the box" as scenario rewards are different to "Add X to the acquired cards" rewards, and a little more awkward (but also better for players, largely).

Instead of drawing 3 random blessings per player and adding one of each to the card rewards, each player should randomly draw 3 blessings from their Class Deck (note that your Class and Ultimate Add-On decks should be added together for this purpose), then they may choose one to add to their deck in addition to their regular Deck Upgrade.

So if my Class Deck offered 15 Blessings (From AD0 to AD4) and my Ultimate Deck offered 12, then I would shuffle those 27 together and draw 3 (or list them in order and roll 3d27).

To resolve this, after this scenario I will allow Lini to take an Ally 3 (which she should've gotten from the last scenario) and allow her to keep her Blessing 4 that she got. Everyone else gets to handle the "Draw 3 blessings, pick 1" reward properly.

I'll be sure to cover this in this scenario's reward, don't worry.

So in Lini's case instead of upgrading Blessing of the Spellbound to Blessing of the Seventh Veil I put Blessing of the Spellbound back in my deck, keep Blessing of the Seventh Veil, and upgrade one of my allies to an ally 3?
    After this scenario of course.

    After this scenario of course.

To clarify, you'd still need to cut down to your regular deck size. Drawing a card from your class deck between-scenarios is basically just a Deck Upgrade by another name (and in addition to your normal deck upgrades).

Basically, if you had drawn and chose "Blessing of the Seventh Veil" randomly, then you may add it (and specifically it, rather than "any blessing 4") to your deck (which would mean you'd need to replace another blessing).

In this case, we're just keeping your upgrade as-is, so keep Blessing of the Spellbound removed/replaced; I'm just giving you a free Ally 3 bonus upgrade since you got short-changed due to my own error. Everyone else will get to draw Blessings properly after this scenario, now that I've been corrected.

Lini's deck Searching for: Spell 4, Spell 6, Blessing 6

Desired upgrades in order of importance.

    item 4: 1d1000 ⇒ 702
    ally 4: 1d1000 ⇒ 673
    spell 4: 1d1000 ⇒ 373
    ally 3: 1d1000 ⇒ 944

We also obtained a Weapon 3 Dagger of Doubling from when Qualzar tried to close the Scorched Ruins early on.

I don’t have a strong preference for an upgrade. I’ll pick a Weapon/Spell/Item/Blessing from among what’s left over.

I’ll defer to someone with Craft for the Loot Armor. And I don’t currently have enough Item slots for the Loot Item.

    Remaining Sorcerer Blessings:
    1-3) Blessing of the Gods
    4-5) Blessing of Iomedae
    6-7) Blessing of Erastil
    8) Blessing of Abadar
    9) Blessing of Pharasma 2
    10-11) Blessing of Gozreh
    12) Blessing of Sivanah 3
    13) Blessing of Sivanah 4
    14-15) Blessing of Lamashtu

    Random blessings: 3d15 ⇒ (11, 5, 2) = 18
Blessings of Gozreh, Iomedae, the Gods.
    Sure, Gozreh.

    3-4B/3-4C reward: 1d20 ⇒ 4
    Nope

    boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 8

Lini will take ally for her card feat adding Wolf.

Lini will be visiting Smiths of Wati again and the only loot she wants is Sun Falcon Pectoral.

    Not tiering up yet.

For Scenario 3-4C: THE CHOKED TUNNEL...

Tier Progression: (4.4) Estra gains a Card Feat, and checks off...
    Spell 5 [X] 6 [X] 7 [ ] 8

Blessings 1-14 are Occult Adventures 1 blessings, counting in the same order as listed on the wiki page for the class deck (starting with Blessing of the Gods and ending with Sign of the Stargazer).
Blessing 15-27 are Ultimate Magic blessings, counting in the same order as listed on the wiki page for the add-on deck (starting with Blessing of the Spellbound and ending with Blessing of the Seventh Veil).

    Random Occult Adventures + Ultimate Magic blessings: 3d27 ⇒ (12, 24, 6) = 42
Blessing 12 = Sign of the Newlyweds
Blessing 24 = Blessing of Qi Zhong
Blessing 6 = Sign of the Thrush
Whoops, forgot to remove those two; I already have Qi Zhong and Sign of the Thrush in my deck. I'll just reroll them both.
    Random Occult Adventures + Ultimate Magic blessings: 2d27 ⇒ (10, 16) = 26
Blessing 10 = Sign of the Wagon
Blessing 16 = Blessing of the Spellbound

Estra will keep Sign of the Newlyweds, replacing Sign of the Daughter.

No shortage of interesting deck upgrades I can use; but again I'll put myself as a low priority for AD4 boons as I'm happy with anything at this point.

For Estra's Card Upgrade, her preferences are as follows:

  • Armor 4: Replace Create Mindscape with Falcon Crown (Occult Adventures 1). Armor 4 - Low Priority: 1d1 ⇒ 1
  • Item 4: Replace Byzantine Lexicon with Tome of Origami Animals (Occult Adventures 1). Item 4 - Low Priority: 1d1 ⇒ 1
  • Spell 4: Replace Empty Spell Slot with Channel the Gift (Occult Adventures 1). Spell 4 - Low Priority: 1d1 ⇒ 1
  • Ally 4: Replace Idorii with Psychic Rager (Occult Adventures 1). Ally 4: 1d1 ⇒ 1
  • Ally 1: Replace Idorii with Vexing Daredevil (Occult Adventures 1). Ally 1: 1d1000 ⇒ 141

If Estra doesn't get a Spell 4 Deck Upgrade, she'll automatically fill the empty slot with...

  • Spell 4: Replace Empty Spell Slot with Fly (Ultimate Magic).

    =====================

Estra will go to the Auction House Trader for Scenario 3-4D.

Oh. Upgrading that Wolf to Vampire Bat (ally 3)

Only Skizza and Cogsnap don’t have at least an initial 50% chance of making the Perception/Fortitude henchman check. If either of them are going to look for help at a trader, I’ll accompany. Otherwise, back to Hadden Hoppert for Qualzar.

Of course, if the party just follows the Warrior Dolls around; everyone's odds are decent, since it adds 1d6 to ALL checks to defeat monsters (combat or otherwise).

Fair point; and moreover someone else with them could take the Perception/Fortitude check. Though I’ll keep the offer to accompany to a trader open.

Actually, looking at the loot list- is Estra still using the Spear of the Watchful Guardian? If not, I might swap it in for a scenario for the Perception bump.

I am still using that, actually (Perception checks are used for some of Estra's combat and a lot of her recharge checks); though it occurs to me that I should probably change that out with the amazing banishable Weapon 2 I have access to (Javelin of Lightning).

If you really want it, then tell me now because I'll change my Trader to Sunburst Market so I can trade my weapon slot away for an extra ally (which should work out fine for me).

Is the Weapon 4 boon still up for grabs? If so I'll trade out my Cauterizing Blade

I assume the blessings we draw exclude the 5 and 6's?

If that is the case, I have seven blessings in my Alchemist's Deck (I could do Ultimate magic, but I don't think there are any blessings in there I want.)
    1 Elements
    2 Erastil
    3 Nethys
    4 Pharasma
    5 Pharasma
    6 Isis
    7 Osiris

    3d7 ⇒ (7, 2, 2) = 11
    Reroll or final card: 1d7 ⇒ 2
Still Reroll or final card: 1d7 ⇒ 2
    Reroll or final card: 1d7 ⇒ 5
    Options are Erastil, Osiris, Pharasma

Damn, Osiris is great for a healer . . . terrible for me. I guess I'll just stick with Elements, THEY RECHARGE ON ALMOST ALL OF MY CHECKS!

EDIT: Oh yes, My skill feat goes to Int, who's surprised?
