Well, hell. I don't have anything to even hurt this guy. I can use my amulet to cast magic missiles again, but you have to see the target. Any suggestions? I will make for the halberd and throw it as far away as possible. Or can you cover it like a source of light? I got nothing. Not even magic weapon to cast. Sorry. I am very unprepared for incorporial (i can't even spell it).

Untroubled by the darkness, Khouri is only reminded of his many long years toiling underground when teh lights go out. He strikes again at the dretch trying to remove them as threats. This time his strike is against the one that is blinded, thinking it will be easier to hit.

Khouri waraxe, BP: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 7 + 1 = 13
Dmg, if hit, BP: 1d10 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 1 = 8

Not sure if the blinded dretch has an AC penalty that will allow this attack to hit. Khouri's fight rolls have been brutal so far...

Iron Gods: Iron maps;

With a casting of light Giladref corroborates he can not beat the current darkness.

Corrella casts resistance on herself while she keeps inspiring the pavilion, and she keeps her flag for Khouri and the few others that can see.

Unable to see it coming, the blind dretch is taken by Khouri's axe. Although it deals less damage than expected, the swing, boosted by words and flag, is able to penetrate the little reality that pose the dretch shadows and destroy the quasi-real demon that instantly returns to its darkness world.

The remaining dretch turns his fight against the dwarf!
Claw 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Claw 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
The shadow claws scratch twice on Khouri's skin.

The shadow demon conjures again a third dretch that appears to stop the guests that are flocking now out of the pavilion and attacks Corrella.
Claw 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Corrella:
Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
As the claw tears your body, you do disbelief the true existence of it. Although you cannot see it you do know this is another shadow dretch attacking you, and the damage is only 20% real.

Claw 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Unable to see it coming, the dretch cuts and bites with ease at Corrella.

Mercenary: 27 damage, unconscious, dying

Corrella: 11/27 hp

Giladref will move as best he can towards where he remembers the halberd being. Feeling his way, he works his way down the row between table that was on his right clearly visible moments before the spell. He counts the tables and chairs as he feels them. At the far edge of the second table, he prepares to dart in grab the halberd and retreat. Giladref moves at half speed toward the halberd.

The fire elemental moves to get better footing and slams at the creature again. slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21; but it can not hope to be effective again something it can't touch.

Round 5
Cursing the shadow demon under his breath, Ss'alat does the only thing he can think of:

« կախարդական հրթիռ » . . "magic missile", in nagaji
magic missile: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 1, 1) + 3 = 6

--------------------

Round 6
And again:
« جادو ميزايل » . . "magic missile", in osiriani
magic missile: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (2, 2, 4) + 3 = 11

Iron Gods: Iron maps;

@Ss'alat unless you have something that allows you to see in total darkness you cannot target the demon

Ooops! I missed that part about the darkness!

Round 5 (revised)
Ss'alat tries moving as best he can back to the entrance of the pavillion:

Round 6 (revised)
Once there, will try attacking the new dretch

Corrella continues to allow her tale to linger in the minds of her allies. She tries to step away from the threat by her while hoping against hope that the darkness lifts soon and causes a burst of light in front of the creature she is retreating from.

Corrella casts Flare at the green Dretch. (DC 14 Fortitude Save or Dazzled for 1 minute)

Still able to see well in the darkness, Khouri swings his axe at the Red Dretch once again, trying to call out directions to the enchanted halberd to help Gil find it.

If the dretch disintegrates, Khouri takes a 5' step as indicated on the map. If it remains in the fight, he will remain where he is.

Ss'alat retreats and tries to fight back the dretch he steps upon.
Darkness misschance 50%: 1d100 ⇒ 7
The sickle seems to fail to reach the dretch.

Corrella casts flare just to find the light spell is absorbed by the darkness to no effect.

Khouri cuts down the red dretch with his axe. The shadow-made creature disappears smited by the dwarf's weapon.

"Tsk, go to HELL!" shouts Arastrax despised at seeing more and more guests are able to put themselves into safety by exiting the pavilion, while he conjures jets of fire that shortly flash in the pavilion.

Giladref will move in and attempt to grab the halberd. If he gets the halberd, he will swing it at the demon, or where it was when the lights went out.

Now that the shadow dretches are taken care of, Khouri turns his attention to the demon. Chanting and gesturing, the warpriest conjures a crossbow made from pure force that fires a bolt at the incorporeal demon.

Spiritual Weapon (crossbow), force, BP: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 6 + 1 = 20
Dmg, CL 4, BP: 1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 1 = 5

Cast Spirtual Weapon which for a cleric of Abadar would be a crossbow. Since the weapon does force damage, it bypasses the incorporeal state of the shadow demon, I think. Not sure if Bardic Performance affects such a spell, but it seems like it should as it uses my BAB+Wis modifier to hit.

Scarab Sages

Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Ss'alat yelps in pain, being taken unawares by the Scorching Ray.

Iron Gods: Iron maps;

Khouri's spiritual weapon appears into the pavilion but it moves no where and stands by the side of the warpriest.
I think you missed the last post spoiler, the demon disappeared into the shadows (he used a super natural power that let himself become similar to invisible in shadows)

Giladref reaches the halberd, then starts walking out of the pavilion.

Ss'alat survives to the scorching ray of the demon.

There is no trace of the shadow demon, but the remaining dretch attempts to kill Corrella.

Giladref makes for the nearest exit to hurl the halberd away. there are probably rules on how far you can throw a halberd. If it is less then 40', Giladref will double move and hurl it next round. Else he will hurl it as far away a possible.

Corrella allows her epic tale of overcoming long odds echo on the winds and in the minds of her fellows. "Would someone deal with this thing that keeps ripping at my flesh please and thank you." She moves away carefully from the threat while hoping to avoid tripping over any objects in the dark.

Corrella uses Lingering Performance to keep her Bardic Performance going and follows that up with a Withdraw action.

Sorry, i did miss that the demon had disappeared. Will you allow me to retcon casting the spell then? I will post the retcon action below, just in case.

Round 7

Moving to flank the remaining dretch with Ss'alat, Khouri swings to disspell that creature as well.

That ought to do it. If allowed, I will add my Round 8 action below.

Round 8
Having cleared the room of dretches, Khouri peers around for the shadow demon, but failing to still see it, he moves adjacent to the wounded Corrella, and fervently praying to Abadar for his succor, he touches the bard passing along positive energy.

I did not hear back, so best to be safe and move another movement away before throwing the thing. However the map does not have room. I am 30' straight out from the south (bottom) door. I will leave my token as I plan to return to the same spot next round.

if Khouri did dispatch the shadow-dretch:

Ss'alat will pull out his wand of Cure Light Wounds and try to heal himself a bit:
use magic device: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
cure light wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 (wand)

if Khouri did not dispatch the shadow-dretch:

Ss'alat attacks the shadow dretch again:
1 to 50% miss: 1d100 ⇒ 14
sickle: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 1 = 9
damage: 1d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 1 = 8
Including Corella's Inspire Courage, if it's still happening

Uninspiring results in either case! :P

Looking at the initiative order. I think Giladref can go.

Round 9
Having thrown the halberd, Giladref will move back to the position just inside the tent. He will pull out his wand if shield, too.

"I'm back. Where did he go?"

Iron Gods: Iron maps;

With a swing of Khouri's axe the last dretch disappears from the material plane.

When Giladref throws away the halberd, the light comes back to the pavilion and there is no trace of the shadow demon.

Around you the other demons are either killed by the guests or move away as they do realize their general has left.

Combat is over!

The few guests that remain in the pavilion look around still confused, then they do start to realize the danger has passed and look at you as the cornerstone of the day's defense "What did happen!? Oh thanks you were here ready!"

The Blakroses come to you to greet you for your deeds "You saved the day. I knew the Onyx alliance was to cause trouble..."

That was a wicked combat. Incorporeal monster inside of a mercenary with the ability to summon dretches and us with no armor or full weapons.

Giladref looks over anything the mercenary had looking for clues as to why the attack happened like orders or a note.

"What a weird turn of events!" "This is one wedding I will want to drink to forget not merely have it as a consequence of stupid indulgence."

He will also check out the halberd after the spell fades.

Very enjoyable! Thank you for running this scenario, GM Rutseg. It has a killer ending. Thanks also to the others in the group for the interaction. I really liked reading all the great posts.

Thanks to you GM Rutseg for running a very enjoyable game. Also many thanks to each and every one of you for a very lively and entertaining session.

Khouri makes a mental note to never again let his weapons and armor be taken voluntarily as he tends to his several wounds and those of his companions.

Good game, thanks!

Iron Gods: Iron maps;

Corrella checks Alistair Fourchek's body and finds a couple of lesser potions. Letting one of them to be drunk by the mercenary she is able to save his life when he was almost done.

Commander Rubaani Shafar comes to you still in shock "Thanks for your actions in defending the wedding against the demon attack. If not for you my mercenaries would had not been enough to keep the safety of the guests. As such I promise you a portion of the mercenary company’s commission for defending the island for keeping the wedding guests safe." That will render you 1,300 gp as part of your mission commissions.

With the reception interrupted and the security of the island clearly breached, Hamaria Blakros calls the weekend’s festivities to a close. Guests are quickly rounded up by surviving mercenaries and ushered to the pier. The boat ride back to Absalom takes on a somber tone, any joy at the wedding eclipsed by the death and destruction the demons brought to Pariol Island.

Despite Giladref's investigations nothing is found up to the origin of the attack. It is like if someone has called the demon army out of no where.

While the wedding is dismissed you are lauded as heroes of the wedding, and the Society’s prestige grows as a result of your actions.

Glad the demons disappeared, Ss'alat does what he can to help anyone hurt during the scuffle with the shadow demon.

Thanks for the game, GM Rusteg. That was fun.

Days after the wedding the Pathfinder team gathers again at Absalom's Lodge to deliver their chronicles. Ambrus Valsin congratulates you for your great job expanding the influence of the Pathfinders around the Inner Sea.
