Luna had no real way of producing light unless someone gave her a torch so she would stay close to the others hand on her whip just in case she they were attacked.

Jacob pitches-in with the excavation, but it was hard work - harder than he'd done in years. At least I'll look good when I'm out of here.

It was a bit saddening to see the other side was a touch narrow, but it heartened him to see it looked to have some sentient touch to it. "I don't think it's too much of a stretch for them to live here if it's warm enough. Reptiles are cold-blooded though, so if it gets chilly in here, they'd need a way to the surface."

The group continues down a slowly circling tunnel. It looks as if this was created by connecting smaller caverns and caves, it occassionally switches back on itself, but continues to lead down.

As the party approaches the first intersection, a large bat suddenly detaches from the ceiling of the connecting passage and darts out in front of the party. Glowing yellow eyes show it's passage and then it emits an ear piercing shriek that echoes up and down the passage. Then it continues to emit high pitched chirps even after it screams.

Everyone must succeed on a DC 15 Will save or become shaken for 1d4+1 rounds.

Surprise Round

Only Kong and Lina make the perception check to figure out where the shriek came from, and can respond as it swoops around the corner.

Lina slams her lance tip into the creature with both hands, and manages to open a furrow on the side of it's ribs.

The bat screeches in a high pitched pain, and then bites at Luna.

Blood sprays as it's razor sharp teeth sink into Luna, spraying Lina with her companion's blood.

The bat then also whips it's long barbed tail forward past Luna's head and attempts to hit Lina with it.

The barb slams into Lina's helmet a few inches from the face slit, just barely missing her flesh.

Neri is aghast for a moment, as the thing screeches... Then that spell is broken as the thing digs into Luna... not once, but twice. He lets the anger push him to leap past his fear. The training in Lina's keep coming back to him. Fight dirty, or risk your and your ally's skins. He moved quickly forward, his movements becoming a blur as he arrived on the other side of the creature. His whip snaked out, even as he was drawing arcane sigils in the air. Lightning raced along the metal teeth of the whip, and arced amongst the rings in the grip as the whip came back, and then went crashing back towards the creature.

Neri, you only have 20ft of movement, so even moving once and then using fleet charge, you only get 40ft of movement. You have to move through Lina and Jacob, which requires Squeezing (meaning it takes 10 ft of movement per square you move through). So you can't reach where you indicated. So you'll have to go into the upper left corner above the bat. You do not threaten with the whip. You aren't flanking (can't technically flank with the whip, since you are not threatening, to flank you both have to threaten). So the charge hit, but not the spellstrike. Also, you need to make a caster check, DC 15 + level of spell to cast your spellstrike spell, the bat's chirping is highly distracting. If you fail, you lost the spell. If you succeed, you can hold the charge from the shocking grasp to do spellstrike again later.

Neri dodges past Lina and Jacob, and then uses his whip to hit the bat, and tries to hit a second time with a spell, but fails.

Just as Lina thinks she's safe from the tail, blood begins dripping down her armor, and she realizes it didn't miss!

Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Luna steps back, and then her and her mirror image both attack the bat, both hit, but only Luna's real whip does damage.

Neri would call to Lina to bring him the map so he can doublecheck how he remembers everything against it, and try to tell them what's in each nearby pocket... if he can remember. Only things that seemed relatively permanent, as it was over the course of weeks that he made this, of course. So the bat probably wouldn't even be on his radar... or anything like that, really. :)

The bat probably has parasites, but it doesn't look like it has anything contagious at this time.

Neri's map wasn't detailed enough for him to recall specifics, it was fairly detailed with regards to shapes of earth, but anything else was very fuzzy at best.

Perception DC 10:

You can hear more chirps in the distance, as well as a dull roaring sound, but aren't sure which direction...

Perception DC 20:

You can hear more chirps in the distance to the east, as well as a dull roaring sound coming from the south.
