Hollow's Last Hope (4e)
Laz,

B 4 Mothman 2 Final avatar

Actually that be 10 damage Thorin. +2 from your Dex.

If you'd like I can place Clovis in the door way and you can blast away

Bats 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23

Initiative:
B1
B2
B3
Thoin
Tatsu
Clovis

If Kidlat or Felwyst haven't posted by later on, I'll roll their initiative and post actions.

The bats are sleeping and haven't notice your approach. You all get to act in a surpise round

MAP, the floor in this room counts as difficult terrain.

Clovis Woodsman,

12 Hp Ankhegs Amok Final 1 avatar

With an AC14? Clovis is reckless, but he's not entirely devoid of sense. He'll stay put and blast when he can see something.

Felwyst,

20 Justice-Ironbriar avatar

Laz wrote:

Guess you didn't check the discussion thread. I was on my honeymoon. While it was pretty awesome, I returned to work yesterday and was fired, so I didn't feel much like posting. But here goes...

Initiative - 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

Laz,

B 4 Mothman 2 Final avatar

Sorry Felwyst :( My bad for not checking

Laz,

B 4 Mothman 2 Final avatar

Kidlat 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12; Ser 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Felwyst,

Felwyst mumbles a quick prayer to Desna, and white light surrounds the same bat Thorin shot.
Radiant Vengeance vs. Reflex 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

Laz,

B 4 Mothman 2 Final avatar

Felwyst and Thorin's assault instanly bloody the one bat.

Tatsu readies herself for the fight to come.

Bats begin to escape to the outside, but three shadows remain. Three large bats, one already badly wounded, fly at the party.

B1 flies down, OA from Tatsu 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13; Miss, and slashes at thorin with it's tail

Tail Slash (flyby attack) 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15; Damage 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

It flies back up ready to strike again.

B2 flies straight at Thorin and lashes out

Tail Slash 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15; Damage 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

B3 dives down at the dwarf and quickly return to the air Move to X5

Tail Slash (flyby attack) 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14; Damage 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

All three attacks fail to penetrate Thorin's heavy scale armor.

Thorin "Thumpy" Ironhands,

The dwarf warrior is shaken by the flurry of dark wings and sharp talons. He drops his crossbow, grabs his hammer and takes a swing at the closest big bat.

Free : drop crossbow
Minor : ready warhammer
Standard : Steel Serpent Strike on B2
Attack 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Damage 2d10 + 5 ⇒ (9, 10) + 5 = 24
Effect: target is slowed and cannot shift until the end of my next turn

Clovis Woodsman,

12 Hp Ankhegs Amok Final 1 avatar

Can Clovis see B3 yet? If so, his readied surprise round action happens now.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 - Explosive Pyre v Ref. And is entirely irrelevant as that pretty much has to be a miss.

Felwyst,

20 Justice-Ironbriar avatar

Use oath of enmity on B1 and ready an action to use Angelic Alacrity when B1 is low enough to be attacked, probably shifting to V3. Since I'm an elf, I can shift through difficult terrain.

Laz,

B 4 Mothman 2 Final avatar

Thorin knocks the bat through the air. Blood pours from the woundedd beast.

Still no go on seeing the into the room. Once Felwyst takes his action and shifts (probably), you'll be able to see into the room and B1 and B2 atleast.

Laz,

Tatsu seeing an opening on B2 tells Thorin where to Strike

Commander's Strike, Thorin make an Melee Basic Attack against B2; +4 to the damage

Kidlat, Ser and Clovis what in the hall. Unable to do anything until the others move into the room.

B1 once again dive bombs the dwarf. Before it can move far Felwyst dashes into the room and makes an attack

Angelic Alacrity on B1 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16; Damage 4d4 + 5 ⇒ (3, 1, 1, 2) + 5 = 12

B1 - 15 in the air; Bloodied

Felwyst seems a glimpse of the future and that his attack will miss, but the grace of Desna allows him to corrent the situation

1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22

The attack obliterates the bat leaving only two.

Clovis if you'd like to blast B2 feel free to go now

B2 - Bloodied; Slowed and cannot shift until the end of turn (Thorin)
B3 - 15 feet in air

Gah why'd I make another post to do this!!!

Clovis Woodsman,

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18 - Chaos Bolt v Will. If that hits 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 psychic damage. Rolled odd, so no secondary attacks.

"I've flown better than them," Clovis sounds dismissive.

Thorin "Thumpy" Ironhands,

31 Gold-Market-Merchant avatar

"Thanks Felwyst!" says the dwarf, grateful that he wasn't drilled by the dive-bombing bat. He charges at the last remaining vampire.

Move: to W5

Standard: Reaping Strike

Attack 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Damage 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
1 damage if I miss.

Thanks for using Elven Accuracy, definitely the place for it.

Laz,

B 4 Mothman 2 Final avatar

Clovis ball of chaos strikes the bat and sends it jibbering to the floor.

B3 swoops in and dives at the dwarf

Tail Slash (flyby attack) 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10; Damage 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

The attack misses and Thorin steps forward and swings. His hammer makes contact and sends the flying mammal against the wall.

Tatsu Everheart,

Tatsu will ready herself, waiting for the bat to strike to counterstrike.

ready melee basic attack on B3 when he strikes someone. (which means he is down at our level)

"I hate flying monsters." Tatsu remarks to her companions.

Laz,

B 4 Mothman 2 Final avatar

Tatsu and Felwyst both ready to strike the flying rat from the air. Kidlat annoyed at missing out on the action pushes into the room and gets ready to hit the bat like a boy swinging at a ball.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 - Acid Orb v Ref.

Clovis tries and fails to send a glob of disintegrating acid into the last bats.

Tatsu Everheart,

Iomedae Final avatar

"These things move by sound, I think. Make some noise, boys!" Tatsu says right before she starts to scream at the top of her lungs a battle cry. "HEEEEEEEYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!" She hopes the noise will either disorient the bat or piss it off enough to attack her.

Clovis Woodsman,

12 Hp Ankhegs Amok Final 1 avatar

"Noise I can do. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Clovis unleashes an unearthly howl.

Cheliax Lazaro (Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber),

Golemtrio 2 avatar

The wall sizzles as Clovis' acidic glob rolls down. Ser waits patiently in the hall, unable to hit the flying terror and unwilling to block crowd the doorway incase the others retreat.

Tatsu's taunting proves effective as the bat once again dive bombs.

"Hey, you, get away from my friends!" yells the dwarf to the bat. The fact that most bats do not understand Common does not seem to bother the dwarf.

Standard : Reaping Strike

Attack 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

Damage 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Effect : If I miss, I still do 1 damage.

Felwyst,

Remember, Tatsu, if you miss you can reroll thanks to Divine Guidance.
As the party surrounds the bat, Felwyst straightens and chants a quick prayer.
Radiant Vengeance vs. Reflex - 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

Basic attack on B3 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20; Damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Tatsu's sword strike, Thorin's hammer blow, and Felwyst's radiance annihilate the last bat. Luckly there's enough left to prove to Greypelt the deed is done.

Felwyst,

20 Justice-Ironbriar avatar

"I don't trust the worg, but so far this deal hasn't been inconvenient. Still, nobody let your guard down. Maybe we should discuss a plan first. I'm best up close, but with the small passages a ranged attack might be best. Our melee guys could focus on the small wolves protecting the artillery while we slowly withdraw to the courtyard.... If things go awry of course."

Thorin "Thumpy" Ironhands,

31 Gold-Market-Merchant avatar

Thorin shakes his head.

"I hope we didn't kill the bats for nothing. They didn't do anything bad to us."

Felwyst,

20 Justice-Ironbriar avatar

"I'm with you, Thorin. Sadly, I have learned that not every traveller holds true to his word. Right now, we have a chance to prepare for that eventuality and we should."

Thorin "Thumpy" Ironhands,

31 Gold-Market-Merchant avatar

The dwarf looks down on the broken bat bodies sadly, closes his eyes, and nods.

"You're right Felwyst. The talking wolf could be lying to us and we have to prepare for that."

Clovis Woodsman,

12 Hp Ankhegs Amok Final 1 avatar

"If I was a huge talking wolf, bats wouldn't bother me, but maybe he's allergic."

Tatsu Everheart,

Iomedae Final avatar

"Well, that was easy. O.K., so here's what I am thinking: we have done what the old wolf wants. Now we see if he is as good as his word. Thumpy, you're up here with me. We enter together. Fel, you hang back. If he is lying, there will a vanguard sent to flank us. I need you and Kidlat to guard the back and make sure this doesn't happen. If the wolves want a fight, we will give him them one. Ser and Clovis, you are behind us and in front of Kidlat and Felwyst. Focus on the worg if anything starts up. Once he's dead, the others will run." Tatsu says to her companions, looking them straight in the eyes as she addresses them. "Hopefully, this will be a whole lot of nothing. I would prefer to leave the wolves alone. But better safe than sorry. Let's go."

we have a plan, then. if anyone disagrees, just speak up. we will enter the little room again and show our proof and see what the worg does. we are alert and ready for a doublecross.

Clovis Woodsman,

12 Hp Ankhegs Amok Final 1 avatar

"Like you said Tatscakes. I still want to keep a wolf to ride. You reckon the huge one would let me ask or not?"

Felwyst,

20 Justice-Ironbriar avatar

"I'm with you."

Laz,

B 4 Mothman 2 Final avatar

Greypelt snarls as the group returns from their bat removal. "Did you do as I asked? Have those flying rodents finally left my home?"

Clovis Woodsman,

12 Hp Ankhegs Amok Final 1 avatar

"Guess so. Tell me, are you allergic or something? They're just flying mice and you're a ten foot tall talking wolf. I really don't see why you needed us to wipe out a bunch of bats. Seems like a waste to me."

Kidlat,

Flyinninja avatar

Just checking in to let you know that I am now using my new laptop

"Yup, Clovis here made short work of them."

Thorin "Thumpy" Ironhands,

31 Gold-Market-Merchant avatar

"We've got rid of the bats, spiders, and those big smothery-things. Can we please have the mushrooms now, Mr. Graypelt? The folks in Falcon's Hollow aren't going to get any better without it."

Laz,

B 4 Mothman 2 Final avatar

"Feel free to take the mushroom from this room", He snaps at the dwarf. "I've told the others not to bite it's safe"

The mushrooms are indeed ironbloom mushrooms and put you at seven total!

Thorin "Thumpy" Ironhands,

31 Gold-Market-Merchant avatar

"Oh, OK." As Thumpy helps to collect the mushrooms he keeps glancing at the wolves nervously, feeling unassured by the worg's promises.

Felwyst,

20 Justice-Ironbriar avatar

Felwyst keeps a keen eye on the worg as the others collect mushrooms, his hand never lifting from the hilt of his sword.

Insight: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

Tatsu Everheart,

Iomedae Final avatar

Tatsu nods to Thumpy. "It'll be alright. Greypelt doesn't want to start something with somebody who can kill all his enemies."

After Thumpy makes it back to the group, Tatsu will lead them back out to the courtyard where they camped. It's time to plan and move on.

Clovis Woodsman,

12 Hp Ankhegs Amok Final 1 avatar

"Tats, you think he'd like to know how to play "Find the Lady"? Even a talking wolf has to get bored during the long winter evenings."

Laz,

B 4 Mothman 2 Final avatar

Felwyst

Spoiler:

Something about this still doesn't sit right with you.

Felwyst,

20 Justice-Ironbriar avatar

Felwyst silently hangs back and takes up rear guard as the group prepares to leave the monastary.

Tatsu Everheart,

Iomedae Final avatar

Tatsu just shoots Clovis a hard look and nods to the door. "Now!" she mouthes to him silently. She glances at the old worg as she leaves the room.

Laz,

B 4 Mothman 2 Final avatar

The old worg growls, but does not pursue the group put of the chamber.

Following the leather clad warrior the party reassembles in the courtyard. The morning sun still shines above as they begin planning their next move.
