Armory Discussion - Integrated Weapons

General Discussion

I don't see this questions anywhere else so... Looking for clarification on Integrated weapons in Armor slots.

Per the Integrated description... (p. 29)

An android or any other creature
with the upgrade slot racial ability cannot
combine its racial upgrade slot with armor
upgrade slots to install an integrated weapon.

And per the Shoulder Launcher Description... (p.41)

Many shoulder laser users are androids who integrate them into
their bodies as emergency weapons.

It seems to imply that Shoulder Launchers can be integrated into Android upgrade slots?

Seeing as how i do not have my book on me I don't remember if shoulder launchers take up two slots, but if it only takes one slot then it would be perfectly fine for an android to integrate into its body. the problem would come if a android had an armor with one slot and wanted to use there body slot for a two slot weapon. You cannot use one slot from armor and one from body a weapon in the body can only be in the body.

I looked it up. The shoulder laser is integrated 1, and so is a legal option for equipping to an Android body slot.

The rules the OP is quoting is basically clarifying that you can't combine android racial slots with armor slots. You couldn't equip an integrate 2 weapon with half being in your racial slot and half in your armor slot, for example.

Agreed with all the above, it only prevents you from combining one android slot with 1+ armor slot to install a big weapon. Single slot weapons go in the android just fine.

There are three places you can install an integrated weapon:

1. Armor (1-4 slot weapons)
2. Android (1 slot only)
3. Weaponized Prosthesis (1-2 slot weapons depending on model)

My first impression that weaponized prosthesis could hide an integrated weapon is wrong, as there's no action to extend or retract it (the retractable spike is the exception, but that's a quality of that particular weapon, not the integrated quality or a weapon prosthesis). The only benefit seems to be that you don't have to hold it in your hand, but it's still hanging there as a weapon for all to see.

The main benefit seems to be having a ranged or melee weapon always available despite the fact you're holding a two handed weapon of the other sort in both hands.

With the Armory's release how many weapons can we fit on one character without having to resort to hands or armor slots?

Edit: I only looked at the range options.

Ranged:
Shoulder Lasers are integrated (1) so they would fit.
Ionizers are integrated (2)) so those won't fit.
Charge Emitters are integrated (1) so those would also fit.
Frost Projectors are integrated (2), so won't fit.
Shout Projecters are integrated (2) or (4), so those again won't fit.

Melee:
Retractable Spike with integrated (1).
Cryo Spike with integrated (2).
Shock Pads with integrated (2).

That's just the ranged weapons.

Basic melee:

Retractable spike

Advanced melee:

Cryospike
Shock pad

Two cyber arms and four weapon prosthesis gives you four usable weapons even if all four hands are full, plus a fifth on an android. You can pick P, C, or E for your melee damage type options, C, F, or S ranged.

And that's assuming you're not a skittermander!

You could have up to 8 arms!

Remember, there are other options besides integrated weapons too. Laser eyes and dragon gland augmentations come immediately to mind.

Also, be an exocortex mechanic, and build extra integrated weapon slots into your body as you level.
