Is persistent damage multiplied on a crit?

As the title says, is persistent damage doubled on a critical hit? I didn't see anything in the rules that specifies one way or the other.

I went with "no", because I didn't want my party to die. But I was curious what the intent is for that rule.


Since some abilities mention that it is and some do not I would go with NO as the default.


Persistent damage is an enhancement, and I know of no reason enhancements should automatically double on a crit.

Where does it specify an enhancement?
Though, oddly , I feel like only Acid Flask's would multiply on a crit, as that is what is being applied (other than splash) via the attack roll.
but things like bleed, or alch fire's I don't think would be since they seem like the rider side effect of the main damage dice.

That is how I've ruled it. It multiplies if the base damage is persistent, but not otherwise.


We had no idea on this either - we assumed yes because when asked about sneak attack damage Mark Seifter said 'everything multiplies' - but you are supposed to re-roll persistent damage each round (if variable) - and we were unsure if the subsequent rounds would be multiplied as well.

Would love an answer to this question.


Given that the Wounding weapon rune has specific rules on how to handle a crit, my interpretation is that any persistent damage lacking this same text does not do anything special.
