I think I accidentally invented a magus / arcane paladin

General Discussion

Messing around with multiclassing ideas, I came across an idea, how detrimental is it for me to build a paladin based on INT, eat the level, and go straight into wizard dedication? I'd switch my spell points over to INT, have more skills, and can take spell powers for extra utility/healing.

I could also get different tiers of spellcasting. Arcane list.

Neat.

I had been thinking about this on a Dwarf Paladin taking the cleric dedication to get spell points based on wisdom, but one of the problems is that your key spellcasting ability for your champion powers will always be Charisma.

It doesn't change when you pick a different ability for the points?

I think it might be better to go with Sorcerer and then step into Fighter Multiclass.

without some means of spellstrike i'd call it more of an eldritch knight #NotMyMagus

Can I just sidetrack to say how much I love PF2's multiclassing? Paladin/Wizard is one of those multiclass combos no one would have ever considered in PF1, but it seems viable here.

On the question of key ability scores, in the blog it was mentioned that multiclassing could change your key ability score, but I don't see where that is mentioned in the book.

From what I can tell (and I made a thread about this), if you have a source of spell points from your class and your multiclass dedication, you calculate how many spell points you have based on the highest of the two stat mods (so a level 5 Dwarf Paladin/Cleric with 18 Wis who has a domain from the cleric dedication would have 4 spell points instead of 0), but each of your powers still cares about which class you got them from.

But a 4th level Paladin Wizard with 10 Cha and 16 Int with the evocation arcane school would LoH for 3d4+0 (ChaMod) but would force bolt for 2d4+3(IntMod).

I don't like this, personally.
