Making space combat more varied with "Voltron" tipe ship fragmentation.

I haven't done the numbers, but it occurred to me that it could be interesting from a tactical point of view to have ships that could "split up" from Voltron to Picard's Enterprise Sci-fi has more than one example of this action.

(Having all players in a single ship, the Starfinder system ensures their participation, but can make space combat a little bit monotonous sometimes).

If we had ships that could split up in less powerful versions of themselves and maybe attack opponents from a different angle, navigate an asteroid field larger ships couldn´t, cover a larger space in a search etc, etc. More importantly, could give the players more interesting thing to do in Space combat without being relegated to the same role all the time.

I think a sourcebook for ship and vehicle options is one of the things I will look forward to in the future.

Check out the UC Arkship on pages 162, 163 of Pact Worlds. The UC Arkship can do what you're thinking of.

Let them install a hangar module with 1-2 small fighters.

Had the same for my group and it worked out great. They really liked this kind of options (We used a "dedicated hangar" which can house one specific fighter and only costs one slot, but with the launch tubes from pact worlds you can use them).


There is a book that might help you at least until later next year when paizo announces a starship book, so late next year.. maybe. in the mean time. docking collars and hanger options, and 47 new bays and dozens of new ship options including magic options.
