Anyone else notice that orcs are a fan of big knives?

So, the only two weapons with the orc racial trait in the playtest are the orc knuckle dagger and the orc necksplitter, both of which fall into the knives weapon group. Most knives deal d4 damage, with the exception of the kukri and these particular weapons, the knuckle dagger rolling d6s and the necksplitter rolling d8s.

I just find it kind of interesting, is all.

Maybe a little bit of Warhammer influence, perhaps?

I like to think the necksplitter is really the size of a longsword and orcs just don't have a concept for how small knives are supposed to be.

this is a knoife!

Maybe their 'knife' could be like the German messer. Messer just means knife, but it's often used to describe a one-handed, single-edged cutting sword sometimes called the langes messer or grosse messer (long knife or great knife). There's also a two handed variant called the Kriegsmesser (war knife), which evolved into the Swiss Saber

Sword geekery aside. I think these two weapons might be shown in this artwork from the previews. The guy on the left I think has the knuckle-daggers, which look like punch daggers with side blades and the one on the right the neck-splitter, which looks like a particularly short and broad cutlass with a bowl guard.

"What do you mean I don't get to sneak attack with a falchion? That's clearly just a curved knife!"
