Hey all!

Today we're rolling paizo.com with quite a few under-the-hood fixes and some visible changes in preparation for our Playtest, Gen Con, and a myriad of other necessities. Below is a brief update of what we've pushed:

  • Registration of Pathfinder Society Playtest characters and enabling of the points system
  • A new barcode available from your My Account page for use at Paizo's convention store
  • Navigation updates (both cosmetic and functional) based on user feedback
  • An audit and rewrite of paizo.com's stylesheets
  • Improvements to My Downloads

If you notice a styling or markup error, or run into any issues after this post has been made, let us know in this thread! To help us address these issues, please include your browser, device, and version information along with your error report.

Silver Crusade

Was starting up a mobile “friendly” version of the site one of those updates?

I’m on my iPhone and everything is smol and compressed now :3

The point system seems to not be calculating my GM sessions correctly. About 60~ too low.

As a whole, I like the new menu (a bit of a shock at first). However, when looking at the forums before going into a specific thread, the "last posted" date and person is below the thread and the number of posts isn't always lining up properly with the thread it's supposed to be on. Probably a style sheet issue....

It's possible some people will be seeing their GM credits drop, since we were previously double-counting credits for some scenarios. However, we'll make sure to keep an eye on credit totals to make sure there are no bugs.

My Downloads is having some issues right now. I'm not able to sort by Date Added, Last Updated, or Last Download. The filter toggles also don't seem to be working at the moment either.

Let me know if you need screenshots or explicit reproducible steps and I'll be glad to provide a defect report.

Thanks,

Patrick

Is there a non-mobile option? I like having the larger mobile screen so I don't have to scroll as much. Then I can zoom in where needed.

I do the same, so I second this request, please :3

Oh, something fully positive though! The button with the three lines, don’t know what it’s called, but the tab it opens and the My Account drop down all flow really nicely ^w^

Or at the very least, allow me to zoom out. :)

Why does the alias page have to change in dimensions every time...

It seem sorting the My Downloads page is no longer working at all. The page was broken anyway since the last major update, when it stopped remembering my last chosen sort order. I prefer to see it sorted my "Date added to My Downloads" with newest on top, and after the update, every time I visited the page, I had to click twice on that link to get there, which was bad enough. Now, nothing happens at all when I click any of the sort links.

Favoriting a post no longer opens up the "You marked this as a favorite" box. The + changes to a -, but until you reload the page, that's all you get.

Using Chrome Version 67.0.3396.99 in Windows 10.

The mobile page is broken for me. I have to use the desktop version of the site in order for the text to be the right size now.

Formatting of Organized Play forum is all messed up.

My GM totals also dropped pretty significantly. Not long before my 5-star game, too. What happened? What games are no longer being double-counted?

All of the stuff appearing in our personal lists is fine and is being counted. But a lot of sessions aren't being included on those lists. I can look in one of our events and see that fewer than half of our reported sessions on the last page of one event are broken--they aren't granting GMs tables of credit.

I also have had my GM totals reduced...

Would you be able provide any of these IDs for us to cross-reference? As much info that you can give us will be helpful to drill down the issue.

I... can't! The button for private messages has vanished! That's ironic. Maybe the button moved somewhere else but for the life of me I can't find it.

(Also, my address list is supposed to have 4 people in it, but the list calculates it as having 54 people and creates a blank second page.)

Back to table counts:

Both my VC and I checked and we've both lost in the neighborhood of 17-18 tables.

Check event 83840--if you simply look at the listings, you'll see that there are a ton of tables that apparently aren't giving GMs table credit.

Since I have to post this publicly for the moment I'm blurring out the PII but this should give you an idea of what I'm seeing. If you can send me a PM then I could probably respond to it, at least.

Thirding this request. I liked being able to read more before having to scroll down.

Wow, the view on my phone (iPhone 6) is WAY different than it was and not in a good way ...

The view is ... compressed vertically but there is way too much space between lines of text horizontally if that makes sense

Shadow Lodge

A lesser concern to be sure, but bold text is no longer bolded on current versions of Safari on the Mac. Italic works fine. Bigger is bigger again - thanks for that fix.

If bold is a darker shade, my old eyes can't see it. It's better than it was yesterday (the font was jarring), but probably not ideal.

Thanks!

EDIT: Everything looks good on a current version of Chrome on the Mac.

GM Credit Dropped, I can't order my Downloads in my preferred method (by Date Last Downloaded) and I can't download anything.

Thanks for the update! The navigation menus are an improvement. Methinks, the web team will not be getting sleep over the next 72 hours :) Good luck, and may you have plenty of coffee and snacks.

Hey folks! You may have noticed the site was inaccessible for a time overnight. It is now back as of my posting this, and we're keeping a close eye on it. I've passed the more egregious issues to our team to see if we can implement fixes sooner than later.

If you have issues with events/sessions and credits and have IDs for us to investigate, please go ahead and send those to webmaster@paizo.com. Thank you for your patience during this busy time!

The message boards seem to have a problem with the bottom part of the page covering up the "recent threads" section and/or some messages.

I am using Internet Explorer at the moment.

Also, the latest Playtest blog generates an error if I try to post a message to it. That might be why there are no messages under that blog.

Hi Chris!

I incidentally found a way to inject CSS classes into threads <main> tags.

When one of my campaigns suddenly turned red I started to inspect and found the Campaign title is injected into the class attribute of the <main> tag.

That title is under control of the campaign GM, and I was able to do fun things like turning green my Shackled City campaign or break the format of another campaign injecting the 'form-prompt' class.

Although at a fast inspection I did not find any potentially dangerous class, there are some able to break the usability of the forum.

Those mine where intended, but there might be someone that might find his campaign broken without no clue of what might have happened.

At first I thought the injection was a change of last update, but reading your post I guess it existed for a long time and the new thing is the red class that affected my GM Red Sun's Reign of Winter campaign. I guess that is enough to understand what is happening and the potential dangers, but contact me if you need more on my side.

Just to confirm, this is definitely not the (only) reason table counts are off. You are showing me at 142 tables, when I should be at 180* “tables” of credit. I track all games played/run in a Google sheet so I know the total is correct. And I can confirm that on Monday, our counts matched exactly.

* You might still show only 179 reported, if Origins is still processing tables.
* I did properly count the 14 modules I have run as 2 “tables” each in this count, everything else as 1 table.

Now that the site is back up it looks like one of the problems is that any rerun scenarios are no longer providing GM credit. Every time I see a scenario I've run again, it is no longer providing GM credit. These scenarios should be providing GM table credit--they should not be giving players chronicle sheets, but that's not something the Paizo system is responsible for.

Additionally, those "deduplicated" sessions are no longer appearing in our GM Sessions list, making it incredibly hard for most users to debug this or to report back to Paizo with any useful information. I had to run a game-by-game comparison between the events I can report for and my own GM sessions in order to see that pattern.

I don't believe that is the only problem--I just think that is one of the reporting problems introduced with this update.

Shadow Lodge

What a terminalmancer said.

I seem to be missing any scenario that I have run more than once.

—————————————————————-

Edit: no that isn’t quite right. I have more than 38 that I have “re-run.” Some of those are evergreens and multiple characters received credit.

It might be a problem with anything that is table credit only. Ie, those scenarios with credit assigned to a blank or “0” character number.

When I go to community/Forums, everything looks correct. However, if I go to a sub-forum (say, community/forums/pathfinder or community/forums/Paizo), it appears that the tables display incorrectly. (I am using Internet Explorer.) (Yes, I know.)

In addition, when I tried to post this comment, I had to change the view size to at least 150% to be able to post, as otherwise the black description bar at the bottom of the page completely covers up the submit post button.

The pages that summarize user profiles (ie: The 'Characters' tab on the any campaign page, or the 'Aliases' tab on your Profile page) now seem to be centering the entries vertically, as well as horizontally.

The horizontal centering is normal... but the vertical centering is jarring, and makes it very hard to read the entries when the images don't line up left to right.

This is in Firefox on a Windows7 PC.

I thought it might be the Paizo Campaign Tools add-on on getting antsy about the new website update, but disabling the add-on doesn't change the vertical centering... so think it might be on the Paizo end?

I've lost around 5 tables of PFS GM credit. I've lost over 12 tables of SFS. My posts on the forum now show 2 stars and 0 Nova's, despite showing 20 tables of SFS credit online (I'd just hit my 3rd star too).

I know that at least 3 tables that were reported previously are no longer showing for me. The one I reporting (and can confirm it's still showing as reported in my events page) was Session 1 of event 260791.

Just to report back here--I'm seeing two classes of problems.

One class is what might be a misunderstanding of PFS requirements. Any time a session is run it should count towards credit--I still don't know what kinds of scenarios were being counted twice, but it sounds like someone decided that GMs were only supposed to get unique tables of credit--that's only true for meeting the 5-star requirement, and you only need 50. That uniqueness requirement shouldn't be applied to table counts in general. And we want those tables to appear on the GM Sessions list anyway, because keeping those lists complete is important!

Many of these reported tables are being "deduplicated," but some of them are not. I have found a handful of tables I've rerun that I am still getting credit for, but not many.

GM Star Rewards:

The Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild offers a GM ranking system. This system uses stars to denote the activity and experience of a given GM. The stars are visible on your Pathfinder Society ID card. You can earn up to four stars for running a certain number of reported games, as follows.

  • Report 10 sessions as GM = 1 star
  • Report 30 sessions as GM = 2 stars
  • Report 60 sessions as GM = 3 stars
  • Report 100 sessions as GM = 4 stars

To obtain a fifth star, you must accomplish the following achievements.

  • Report 150 sessions as GM
  • Run 50 different adventures
  • Run 10 or more specials or exclusives
  • Run a Roleplaying Guild session in the presence of a member of the Pathfinder Society leadership team or a Venture-Captain. Throughout the session, this designated representative will evaluate your rules knowledge, improvisational skills, preparation, and ability to provide a fair and fun experience for all involved Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild players and recommend the granting of a fifth star.

The second class of errors are adventures that the GM has not previously run, but they are not providing those GMs with table credit anyway--and for reasons I can't decipher. There's no pattern to it that I can see.

I've sent in a specific list to webmaster@paizo.com. If anyone can figure out some of the other reasons why adventures might not count towards table credit, please report that sooner rather than later! I am not at Gencon but there might be some number of GMs taking their 5-star table exams at Gencon who would appreciate reporting being fixed.

Oh, and the CSS audit seems to have broken lists. Right now the parent list elements (ul, presumably ol) have margins and padding of 0 all around, which means the bullet points are left-indented out of the visible area of the parent element. You guys need to give the parent elements left-margin (or do something else a little more involved). This issue appears to be browser- and extension-independent, affecting all five browsers I can currently test (although, granted, I can't test IE.)

For example, my post above uses lists.

Scarab Sages

I was reduced from 349 GM credits to 325 GM credits. I can find no explicable reason for why this was. I went back looking through Mid 2015, and all Modules & APs were crediting me 2 GM credits, including We Be Goblins!, and duplicate runs were counting as well.

It will be nearly impossible for me to go back and figure out which scenarios are now missing from my credits.

This is the 3rd time Paizo started updating their website that I have had GM credits go missing. I should be over 370.

Scarab Sages

Why is there no large tab above for Forums like there used to be? I can't just 1 click to get to a different forum than this one now. That's not good.

I found the reason for the missing credits. Sessions that produce the error message:

Player has already run scenario at session # xxx of event # xxxxxx ...

do not count for the tables even if they should count (for example replayables, or sessions that got erroneously reported and then corrected).

Liberty's Edge

I also noticed the ‘My Account’ link is gone from the upper right corner on the moble view, which I assume means we can’t easily see if we have a Private Message anymore ...

It's not quite that simple... that accounts for some of the discrepancy. For me, it accounts for (almost) all of it. But sometimes those sessions count. And when I'm looking at my events, I see a lot of sessions that I'm 99% sure were first-runs for that GM that don't count. =/

By looking through all my old events that I created, I noticed 8 such iterations of such an error.

I'm missing roughly 24 sessions since the last count, so there must be 16 other sessions missing that I can't see because they 1) don't show up on my GM Sessions page, and 2) Someone else created the event and I don't have access to them.

Scarab Sages

Additionally, I found there were several sessions that did not show GM Prestige. They were sessions I could not take a GM Chronicle for, so I did not fill out a character number. When I plugged 2 in the GM Prestige field, nothing showed up in the session. But if I plugged in Zero (0) for the character number, then the 2 Prestige showed up. But my total GM Credits did not increase, so this is not the error.

PM Notifications Missing

Using the dropdown menu on My Account, I can see that there is a new message.

But there is no notification on the page that I should check My Account. Nothing indicates there is a new message.

One of my game threads turned red for some reason, perhaps because the name of the game has 'Red' in it?

The game thread in question. It's just this one game thread.

Also, can't create new threads in website feedback, it gives me an error.
