Cool, thanks!

Can you download the PDF now then?

No. All PDF's are ready to download on August 2nd.

The Playtest preorder isn't a print+PDF deal anyway.

Smells like the download date is an IT project deadline. Most likely for the playtest surveys so that the tools will be ready to collect the playtest adventures' results as soon as the adventures and the bestiary are available

That, and August 2nd is the first day of GenCon.

Congrats! Let us know its secrets if it arrives early!

Argggg.. mine hasn't shipped yet.

Mine is still pending...

NO preorders have shipped. The confirmation email some of you have received says "A package... is about to ship from Amazon Main Warehouse via Amazon Standard Delivery."

We are still in the process of charging cards so that we can deliver Amazon the data on the orders that were successfully charged. Amazon will then be shipping them with the target of delivering to most customers near the August 2 release date (which is when the PDF will be available).

And if you haven't received such an email yet, don't worry; they'll be going out for a while yet; at least into tomorrow, I should think. You can check for updates on that here.

Thank you, Vic!

HMMmmmm.. I have just went and checked and my OLD credit card was used to buy the playtest materials. I have entered in my new number, but it won't let me shift payment over to the new card. I guess I'll have to wait until the current one fails and they contact me.

From the July shipping thread:

Sara Marie wrote:
Customer service is working on getting requests for changes to orders as quickly as possible. If you need to update something on your playtest order and you have not yet gotten a response back from customer service, I would recommend giving us a call at 425-250-0800 as soon as possible. Our phones are open Monday - Friday from 10am- 5pm PST.

You might consider calling them tomorrow and having them update the payment method for you.

Lantern Lodge

Thanks! I'll try that!

Are you sure about that? Not only have I received the email you mentioned about amazon being ready ship. (i've never seen that email and not have my item ship directly after). If I go to my order on the Paizo website it also says that it "shipped on Friday". Also the "Evolution begins soon" email that you all had sent out at the beginning of July stated that the playtest will begin shipping from "mid to late July". So shouldn't some have shipped at this point to those that would have long shipping times?

Scarab Sages

My card has already been charged. The email I got about shipping was 11-20 days lead time.

Positive. I've personally been communicating with them at least daily for a while now, and have been refining the timeline with their input as the release date draws nearer. They are confident that they'll be able to have as many orders as possible arrive as close to the release date as possible.

As for the messaging, our system is built so that "charging cards" and "shipping" are usually directly connected, but we have to handle things here a bit differently for this run. As a result, the statement on the order history page that it has shipped is inaccurate; it would be more accurate to say that it has been processed for Amazon to ship. That said, the statement that these preorders will ship in mid- to late July is correct, and the delivery window specified in the email should be accurate.

Should we expect an e-mail from Amazon when the books actually ship, or will they just suddenly show up one day unannounced?

Well, I think it's mid-June now, so that window should be open by now.

Vic, will Amazon try to ship orders to Europe to arrive around August 2, too, or will they ship at the same time as US orders, do you know anything about that?

I'm also curious as to whether they're going to start with people further away from the US or if it's mainly the US customers they're focussing on with their goal of "near as possible to August 2nd".

You will not receive any emails from Amazon. The email we send that something is "about to ship" is the last email you'll get before things arrive.

The goal for all orders, regardless of destination, is to arrive as close to the August 2 release date as possible, and shipments will be staggered accordingly.

Thanks, Vic.

Thanks, Vic. If anyone knows shipping times, it's Amazon.

But we want it now! Please?

Since I don't have the PDF yet, that means Amazon hasn't shipped it yet.
Since the email I got 2 weeks ago said it will "take 11-20 Business days to arrive", that means it is possible I won't get mine until the end of August.

Who had the "bright" idea to use Amazon?

No one is getting the pdf until August 2nd, regardless of how you ordered the hardcopy and whether or not it ships. All pdfs become downloadable on August 2nd, no exceptions.

That's very quick for overseas to EU :)

The aim is for everyone to get their books as near as possible to August 2nd.

Fulfilling through Amazon makes getting close to that is much more likely (it won’t be perfect, but it’ll probably be better than if Paizo had tried to handle it in house).

Liberty's Edge

Here in Brazil Amazon usually says my package will arrive in 1-2 weeks but i get it the next couple days.

Mr. Wertz if you get me my copy early, I will be your best friend. Honest.

Great. I assume spoilers are going to appear presently. Two weeks before the rest of us get the book(s). It's not as if I warned about that happening.

Hrmpf. 30+ years ago I even lived nearby to where that dude lives. Oh, well.

It's not like you have to worry about them spoiling the plot. How is that any different from Skald getting her PDFs 2 weeks before street date and typing out the goodies in the product thread.

I would expect to start seeing info hitting the web any time now. It is not the end of the world as it is a playtest and a week one way or the other is not going to affect that.

My only annoyance is not having any tracking so I can know when it will show up.

My annoyance is the offender probably cheated to get that copy early while the rest of us are dying with anticipation. I get that journalists and the like need to get previews of products... so they can write informed previews for the rest of us. But getting a copy early because you bribed (or are) a shopkeeper is frustrating to put up with.

It's annoying because getting incomplete data, which nobody but the lucky few who get their books early can verify, will cause unnecessary drama on the boards, with people freaking out over stuff which could well be taken out of context or erroneously read. This is a bit bigger than just another adventure path module or minor rulebook as well, with a very big impact on how Paizo and Pathfinder will continue over the next decade.

And it's annoying on a personal level because of course I want to get the books early as well. :p

No, actually there is a mail order shop that sells the books normally via their site. They list the books as available "in 1–2 days". No cheating involved on the side of the customer.

Using a service that breaches their supplier's trust to get a book before its release date is 'cheating'.

I feel like we've been dealing with four months of unnecessary drama and people freaking out over stuff that's been taken out of context. I don't think 12 more days will make a difference in this regard.

I mean, I guess there's a possibility of creating a bias regarding the playtest materials, but I feel like most of the folks hanging around here have been letting their bias flags fly proudly for months now.

Touché. It's difficult to wrap my head around the fact that it really is only that short a time until at least the PDF is available to me. I hope the physical copies arrive around that time as well.

I'm having trouble remembering with all this hype that it's only a playtest... and the actual core rulebook is another year of this drama away.

Fair. I'm just hyped because I get to start playing with a new system early, and possibly get a feel for it before it starts running away with new additions.
