Question about multiclassing.

Rules Questions

I was reading a thread about barbarians being able to get fatigue immunity at level 9 with 1 Oracle / 8 Barbarian since you add your actual class levels to half your character level to determine the oracle curse feature.

I've looked at the basic multiclass rules and the variant multiclass rules and I see nothing about this.

Where are the rules for multiclassing that say you can do this?

Sorry if this has been asked already, my searches haven't come up with a link to the rules, only people talking about it working that way.

It's a special oracle-curse-only rule, not a general multiclassing rule.

Oracle’s Curse (Ex): Each oracle is cursed, but this curse comes with a benefit as well as a hindrance. This choice is made at 1st level, and once made, it cannot be changed. The oracle’s curse cannot be removed or dispelled without the aid of a deity. An oracle’s curse is based on her oracle level plus one for every two levels or Hit Dice other than oracle. Each oracle must a single curse. All curses can be found here.

EFFECT

One of your legs is permanently wounded, reducing your base land speed by 10 feet if your base speed is 30 feet or more. If your base speed is less than 30 feet, your speed is reduced by 5 feet. Your speed is never reduced due to encumbrance.

At 5th level, you are immune to the fatigued condition (but not exhaustion).

I think that it should work; at level 1 Oracle/8 Barb, you should have an effective Oracle level of 5 for the purposes of the Lame curse, so you would be immune to fatigue, which means you can rage cycle. Of course that speed penalty is kinda detrimental to your rage-pounce cycle craziness, but I guess that's a cost-benefit thing. ;)

Ten feet of speed isn't too hard to get back. Once you layer all the movement speed buffs you'd likely have acquired as a fatigueless RAGEWHATEVERPOUNCE barbarian, lacking ten feet probably won't matter much.

Starting with Fast Movement for the first level of Barbarian.
