Halfling Slinger Insanity

Silver Crusade

So i wanted to make a halfling slinger for flavor more than anything. But then i was completely lost after looking around it seem s like you need three feats and a trait to get things rolling and make multiple attacks per round or am i just reading everything wrong

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/slipslinger-style-combat-style/
Seems the most important but requires the Warslinger trait then
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/ammo-drop-combat
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/juggle-load-combat/

So does this mean i need all this on top of the typical ranged feats like point blank and precise shot etc.

Also with all those sling feats were it says load 1 handed does that mean he could use a shield with a sling staff now?

Let's break it down:

Warslinger racial trait - load slings as a free action, but still need 2 hands to reload and reloading still provokes AoOs. This is really all you need to full attack with a sling.

Slipslinger Style - (requires Weapon Focus or Weapon Training, plus Warslinger) you get +1 damage with slings, and don't provoke AoOs when reloading. Also, any weapon with "sling" in the name is now affected by Warslinger and gains the benefit of any feat or class feature that works with a sling, for example if you have Weapon Focus (sling) that now works for a Staff Sling.

So, with this trait and feat you can now full attack with any kind of sling and won't provoke AoOs for reloading. Reloading will need 2 hands.

Ammo Drop - (needs sleight of hand 1 and proficiency in sling) you can reload a sling or double sling as a swift or move action that does not provoke, using only one hand. This isn't letting you full attack unless your full attack is two shots or fewer. You could definitely use a light shield or buckler, but not a heavy shield; you still need a hand to hold the sling. Note that you can use a buckler with any sling anyhow, because it doesn't occupy a hand: but it may cause a -1 penalty to hit and you may not get the AC bonus in a round that you attack.

Juggle Load - (needs Ammo Drop) you can reload a sling or double sling as a free action that does not provoke.

So here's what you need:

If you want to full attack with a standard sling: warslinger trait
If you want to full attack with a standard sling and use a light shield: warslinger and ammo drop
If you want to full attack with a standard sling without provoking AoOs for reloading: option 1, warslinger + [weapon focus (sling) OR weapon training (thrown)] + slipslinger style; option 2, warslinger + ammo drop + juggle load. Option 2 will let you use a light shield
If you want to full attack with a halfling sling staff: warslinger + [weapon focus (sling) OR weapon training (thrown)] + slipslinger style. Also means that you won't provoke for reloading.
If you want to full attack with a halfling sling staff and use a light shield: warslinger + [weapon focus (sling) OR weapon training (thrown)] + slipslinger style + ammo drop

If you want to use the halfling double sling, it will have the same requirements as the halfling sling staff in the list above except that you can't ever use a light shield with it because it is a double weapon, and you'll probably want the two weapon fighting feat to reduce the penalties to attack rolls down to -2.

If you want to use a halfling sling staff, I would go with warslinger, weapon focus, and slipslinger style.

You never need both slipslinger style and juggle load. You only need slipslinger style and ammo drop together if you want to use a light shield with a staff sling.

Silver Crusade

A small correction:

If you want to full attack with a standard sling (or a double sling) without provoking AoOs for reloading, option 2 above does not actually require the warslinger trait. You only need Ammo Drop and Juggle Load. You would also then be able to use a light shield with a standard sling.

Yup, as Supervillan said: Warslinger is all you need to full-attack with your sling.

Juggle Load wrote:

Your fingers are so nimble that reloading your sling is almost effortless for you.

Prerequisites: Ammo Drop, Sleight of Hand 1 rank, proficient with sling.

Benefit: You can load a sling or double sling as a free action. This does not provoke attacks of opportunity. This feat allows you to fire your sling as many times in a full-attack action as you could attack if you were using a bow.

This part of the feat is just a clarification that yes, indeed, now that reloading is a free action you can full-attack with the sling.

If you already could reload as a free action (as with Warslinger), then you can Full-Attack.

Awesome Thanks guys

But yes, you do need all off that in addition to the standard ranged combat feats like Precise Shot, etc.

However, you can use the sling with Sap Master, which is fun.

Plus halflings can stack their racial damage feats with the regular ones for some really decent damage vs large or larger foes.
