When: September 14-16, 2018
Where: The Fantasy Flight Games Event Center, Roseville, MN
As always we will donate proceeds to our favorite local charity: Tubman
(Tubman's donation wish list)
Come join us this fall as we gather to game and give back to our community. We were very successful in both our dollar amount raised and the volume of food and goods donated. So as always, our goal is to do better than the year before. This is a daunting task, but one I am confident we can and will conquer.
This year’s group of guests is headlined by none other the Organized Play Coordinator, Tonya Woldridge! Who knows what Tonya will bring with her, but if her last visit to Minnesota gives a hint, it will be exciting.
Also returning is SFS lead developer Thurston Hillman! There will be an opportunity to play Thursty’s Paizo Con lottery game, I believe. If not, then maybe this will “convince” him to offer it.
Also confirmed for this year is Clinton Boomer! The hits just keep.on.coming.
I want to take a moment and thank everyone who has helped make our little con be such a success. I think how in the hell are we gonna do better than last con and Every Year y’all show me the spirit of giving is alive and well here. I’ve seen what our efforts do for Tubman and the people they help; knowing we make a difference in someone’s life makes all the work, all the late nights, all the cajoling (“Yer gonna come visit us this year, right?”), all the planning, and everything else involved with putting on a convention so worth it. I am humbled by everyone’s generosity. Truly, thank you so very much!
Watch this thread for updates about registering and table signups, as well as anyone else we can strongarm, I mean convince, into joining us.
Lastly, as always...
Lets do this people!

I'm waiting for the actual events to register for to go Live... and hoping I'm not buried under with work when they do.
Not sure if I'll be able to volunteer to help with slots this year, I may still be recovering from the Gen Con pain train -- we'll see! That being said, I'm probably going to do my darndest to help out in other ways as in years past!

Any hotel suggestions for someone who wants to fly in for the fun?
Roseville Radisson is where we stay. It is about a block from the event center (though there is a hill to walk up).
Ask for the "fantasy flight" discount.

Ok, folks... the full schedule is now posted at SkålCon 2018 Registration
Volunteering to GM couldn't be simpler this year... you can sign up to GM in the same way you would sign up to play! All that we ask is that if you are able to GM higher tier stuff, consider doing that to allow the less experienced volunteers to run the lower tier stuff.
Thanks!

Signed up to play Friday night with some GM guy named 'Thurston Hillman' and Saturday morning with some Coordinator person named 'Tonya Woldridge'.
...I hope I don't mess it up or anything!
:>
...still debating and pondering the Cataclysm, though... decisions...

I had already signed up and paid for the event reasoning that even if I could not make it happen I was at least giving to a good cause. I am now signed up for events Friday evening and Saturday (including a GM spot for Playtest) so I had better make this a reality.
Flights and hotel still to be arranged.

Numbat, that is so awesome! You’ll discover other PBPers lurking amongst us this weekend as well, and a wonderful crowd of people overall. SkalCon is a small gem of a con that attracts people from all over North America now.
Looking forward to seeing you and actually getting a chance to talk!
The event that I am looking most forward to: playing “Into the Perplexity” with Thursty!
Hmm

And another sooper awesome person is almost confirmed.
This con just keeps getting bigger and better. But what makes this con special is everyone who comes to play some Pathfinder, Starfinder, Second Edition playtest, the card game, and Bloodlines and Black Magick. I need everyone to help out here.
If you haven't yet, please register here. Knowing how many people are making us a destination event this year helps us to plan accordingly. I know we can not only match last year's totals, we can exceed them. I have seen the impact we have on people's lives. I know our efforts are appreciated by the people who need Tubman's services. If we can make a difference in just one person's life, then all of this hard work becomes a labor of love.
Let's do this, peeps! Each and every one of us makes Skal Con a success. Please join us in making this year the best Skal Con to date.

From a slightly different perspective:
Despite the amount of energy that goes into and surrounds SKAL Con, it is the convention I've been going to for relaxation the past couple of years.
It's in a good cause, it's a chill and swell group of folks, and it's half the length of Gen Con (as well as far, far cheaper).
It is full of awesome people from all over, too!

There’s no way we can make it this year (all vacation days already spoken for), but Dennis and I are looking very seriously at trying to attend next year. Everyone talked it up so much during GenCon!
Note: Kate was rooming with me and Kyle, who may possibly be the most enthusiastic VA in Minnesota. So there were times when half the sentences out of our mouths were...
“Oh, yes! That person is also going to SkalCon!’
“Gee, Kate. If you came to SkalCon we would totally do a charity table with tickets for the privilege of gaming with you!”
“Goblins? Funny thing you should mention that... We have a goblin boon in this year’s SkalCon charity auction.”
I may have even filked something spontaneously about SkalCon...
