Release Date of PlayTest Material

I have been searching, but have been unable to find what I am looking for. I see that the release date for the PlayTest is 2 August, but what I was wondering is this: those of use that have ordered the physical copies, will we be receiving them on/around 2 August? Or will they not be shipped out until 2 August (where we will received it later) ?

I have tried searching the forums and looked at the FAQ, and my Perception/Ivestigarion roll was low....lol

Those of use who've ordered the physical books, are we going to be waiting an extra week to get the books or should this arrive very close to 2 August?

BTW, I am in the States...and eagerly awaiting the playtest material....

We don't know the exact date, but have been told that the reason that the playtest is in August is for the brick'n'mortar stores to be able to get the material at the same time as those getting it digitally (since the documents are done and at the printers).

As such, I would not expect that those who have preordered physical copies will have to wait too long. Though international shipping is probably a concern.

Normally when Paizo ship their Gencon releases, they stagger the sending to try and get them dropping on US doorsteps the Thursday of Gencon, +-a couple of days (although given the volumes, this is not always possible) They'll also ship international orders at the same time, although these tend to be later of course due to the intervening oceans.

For the playtest however, they aren't shipping themselves, they're using Amazon to ship. My experience in the UK of Amazon preorders here in the UK is that they ship a day or two before hand, and arrive either day of or a day or two afterwards.

It's entirely possible that the physical books would be delivered later than August 2. However, you can still access the PDFs at that date and use them until you get your books.

I got my Starfinder core pretty close to the release date iirc, I think it was even a day or so before the street date because I got lucky on the shipping, but then I ordered mega early.

I'm planning on actually running from PDF though; never make plans based on single points of failure that are outside of your control if there's an alternative that has fewer dependencies.

I have pre-ordered a copy at a b&m shop here in London (UK), and they usually get things within a week of release. I could probably get it for cheaper on Amazon, but this way I'm forced to go to central London, which I generally avoid but sometimes should/need to go!

Keep in mind that if you preordered from Amazon (like I did) that that's not Paizo, so when you get it is up to Amazon.

According to Diego, Paizo's expected shipping window is "between mid July and early August."
