I intend to leave it in better shape than I got it.
It's just jarring that the quoted price for the room WASN'T the actual price for the room but a little 'surprise extra'.
And given that there were issues *last year* I heard about via the forums, I wanted to give folks a head's up to be proactive and aware of it.

Not only that, there is an extra $30 charge to get an ‘upgrade’ to a room in the main building because they are ‘premium’. There are lots of rooms in side buildings around the main conf area, but they can be a hike.

It’s a deposit. It’ll be refunded on check-out. At least that’s what I was told on check-in (and they were very upfront about it before I handed over my card). First time I’ve had to pay a deposit here, which makes me wonder if something happened and the hotel has changed their policy.
Yeah, I was surprised about that, too. My card is nowhere near the limit, so it won't be a big deal for me. Still, I travel for business quite a bit, and I haven't been charged a damage deposit in... well, ever I think.
Prior convention guests must have done something.

But if you cross trough the side parking lot (instead of taking the covered bridges), there is a side entrance to use. Its waaaaaaay faster.
Also, that side parking lot is FILLED with kitties! Stray kitties, but friendly non the less!
