Origins 2018 Pathfinder Playtests?

Pathfinder Society Playtest

The Exchange

I tried doing a search for Origins 2018, but didn't see any associated forums. Please let me know if this was already brought up in another forum.

I am perusing the events for Origins 2018 and saw that there are some PFS Playtests throughout the convention. Since I didn't think the rulebooks were going to be available until August, how is this going to work? Are these run by Paizo? Are there going to be any special boons associated with participating in them?

1. PFS Playtest Scenario #1: The Rose Street Revenge (Level 1 characters provided)
Description: There are two different play tests that are currently listed:
A wave of abductions and killings has struck Absalom, and when a Pathfinder falls prey to this criminal, the PCs set out to find the culprit and solve the so-called Rose Street Revenge.

2. Pathfinder Playtest Demo (Level 1 characters provided)
Description: Come playtest the new evolution of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. Test your mettle against an evil priest and his vile minions! Characters provided.

Does anyone know the difference between the two listings? I am excited to try out the new Pathfinder stuff, just didn't realize it was going to be available at Origins.

Thanks for your interest in PFS at Origins. We are indeed running those two different Playtests. Currently I do not have any information on any rewards related to these adventures.

PFS Playtest Scenario #1: The Rose Street Revenge (Level 1 characters provided) is a 5 hour adventure run by Paizo staff.

Pathfinder Playtest Demo (Level 1 characters provided) is a 2 hour demo run by a couple Paizo staffers and a handful of my Origins GMs.

Michael, any word on schedules and badge drops?

Since the official beta Playtest doesn't begin until August, how will these playtests work at Origins? Any word yet on benefits to playing them? I am assuming there will be some type of chronicle sheet a character can earn that we can use in the future?

According to Jason Bulmahn's Facebook page, the 2E Playtest material has been sent off to the printers. With that in mind, when should we expect to see that material (as well as the scenario) dropped to the few GMs running it at Origins? Being as it is largely a new game system, we need time to both prep the scenario/quest as well and simply learning the game mechanics. Only 34 days (less than five weeks) and counting until the show.

Thank you for asking what has been on my mind as well. I am working to start prepping for Origins, but without this info I am tied to very basic work. While I completely understand that there may be some other paperwork that needs to be processed first (such as NDA's), the sooner we can have this to prepare, the better the experience will be for ALL the players and gms.

We are working on a staggered drop plan. Jason & team have put together a "running the Playtest" guide and written the scenario. We are dropping it to GMs at UK Games Expo first. The GMs at Origins will get their information drop before PaizoCon. The GMs at Gen Con will get it in July.

Tonya, did this get dropped to us yet for Origins? If it is, I can’t find it in my downloads list. Where should I be looking?

I also want to know about reporting — will we be able to report Playtest games at Origins? How about at GenCon?

Hmm

I can't answer for GenCon, but for Origins we were not, at least as far as for the demos. For the scenario that was offered, we were given a tracking sheet if/when we played.

I played an early session of Rose Street at Origins, and we were not given any tracking form, but were told there would be one, and given information to fill it out. Our PFS numbers were not collected to be reported, either.
