You may play no more than one card....

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

We had a discussion on whether you can play a power like Life Lantern's one when facing a situation where you are instructed not to play more than card. What do you think?

By the book I think you can't.

Other example:
Staff of Focus wrote:

Lone Shark Games

You're not playing the extra card that you discard or recharge, only the Life Lantern or Staff of Focus, so it's really just playing 1 card.

This has been refined over the 4 sets, and is actually very clear in the Mummy's Mask rulebook:

Mummy's Mask pg. 8 wrote:
Playing a card means using a power on that card by performing an action with that card that is specified by the card itself. Choosing to activate a power on a displayed card also counts as playing it.

If you apply these rules to your questions, the answer is clear.

Thanks guys
