Rules language and game terms

Prerelease Discussion

Shadow Lodge

I hope rules language and game terms are standardized across PF2e. A significant chunk of rules questions in 1e were from language and terms not being consistently applied the product line.

I don't have the link right now, but I remember a discussion where someone from Paizo noted the desire/need to balance the readability and accessibility of the rules vs standardized terms. (And, yes, these are not mutually exclusive.)

Liberty's Edge

During the Know Direction podcast, they mentioned the classic forum wars over how 'this functions like x' works, and how this is going to be addressed in PF2e. So here's hoping.

Shadow Lodge

I hope they start off by saying hey GM and players, use your noggin, this isn't some legal court battle. Interpret the rules the way that makes sense and is fun for you. Stop nit picking everything. You shouldn't need a dictionary to use the pathfinder rulebook. Relax and have fun. Or something like that.
The intent should be more important than the exact letter of the rules. On the other hand, it would be nice if they didn't use the word trait to mean two different things, that was just plain confusing.
