What I loved about these games was that you could replay them as a different archetype and have a vastly different playing experience.

Turn-based. Most APs.

Gold Box AD&D 1989/1990, to ToEE (3.5 ruleset late 2000s) to PF turn-based.

Get good devs tho - ToEE needed fan mod so your characters would not automatically get up from prone every time, triggering AoO every time!

Just bought Wasteland 2 recently.

The key functions of gameplay there would make the best UI. (I prefer W2 to the pause-issue orders-unpause of Baldur's Gate/Infinity Engine)

-- real-time exploration with ability to move whole group, a subset, or just one character (like a rogue to disarm an area trap).

-- combat reveals whole game is on an invisible grid, which goes visible when Turb-Based Combat begins, and you can sometimes start that combat with a semi-surprise round. Game remains turn-based until combat is over and grid is invisible again.

-- the rest of the UI would be bent to Pathfinder's reqs of course, but having a never-ending parchment scroll being written on with ink pen in the bottom right of screen would be cool too...

Thanks,
