(Spoilers?) as Ranger Animal Companion?

Hey everyone, my group is going through Curse of the Crimson throne and the Ranger will be hitting level four soon. He's gone urban ranger, and doesn't feel that many of the animals fit too well, or seem a little fast and forced.

I considered allowing him to take Majenko as an animal companion, since it says Wizards can take him as familiar. Is there anything I should know for such a thing? Could I base his stats off the Drake Companions from "Legacy of Dragons"?

Majenko is not an animal, but a Dragon. The best you could hope for is for him to be used as a advanced familiar.

From what I can see is the drake companion is a drake. It specifically says it's not an animal companion and don't count as an animal companion for any purpose. Of course, it being your game you can make it work any way you want.

I guess what you really need to do is have a chat with the player and find out what his expectations are for an animal companion.
