I am branching out to the Exchange instead of DA (though doing some of that as well) for the same reason. Normally I am a Scarab Sages/Grand Lodge person all the way.
GM Gustavef |
Yes. It is easier since most of the discussion is for both. I still need to make the game play tables, but I should have everything this set up by this weekend.
GM Gustavef |
Ok Gameplay threads are up.

Re: Gahlethea the Arcanely Blonde
I'm enjoying her antics quite a bit, feel free to keep it up.
Maria isn't exactly a whimsical person, merely a whimsical character concept I saw an opportunity to get some play. And every group needs a foil or two (Bob as well?) so hopefully we will all have a good time playing off each other's antics.

Thanks for the encouragement, Maria. The idea for this character popped in my head after recently seeing Wicked, but she is fast taking on a life of her own -- as is her familiar.
Thanks, GM Gustavef, for offering the opportunity to play whimsy(although Sir Fuzzelworth Cuddlebuttons has the potential to be a much darker character than I had initially conceived when I signed up for this game).
The High Fool |
I've been reading all of Gahlethea's outer and inner dialogue in Galinda's voice. It makes it very entertaining. :D
(I use Rascal from Glitter Force [don't judge me, I have very young daughters!] for The High Fool.)
GM Gustavef |
I am enjoying it too. So Feel free to continue. I will nudge the party along when things get slow. :)
Savaro Who-Sings-At-World's-End |
So, I had a thought. This might be insane, or someone might've already thought of it, who knows, but what if we took 100 ft. of rope and a grappling hook and gave it to Lesya, then she used a scroll of true strike to throw it all the way up to the top and then we just climb the back side of the tower, bracing against the wall at a DC 5(?) climb check.
If it's -2 per range increment, that means she could get it, what, at least 80 feet up if she rolls a 2 or higher to hit AC 5?
Lesya Vasylenko |
They actually sell grappling arrows, which you can load into longbows or crossbows to really nullify the range issue.
Savaro Who-Sings-At-World's-End |
True, didn't think about that. Good thinking! I suppose we could go buy one and have Naruhito shoot it?
Bob McCalister |

It got very chatty :) But all good fun.

Sorry, on my part, if I got a little carried away. I've been taking advantage of a little free time, which I don't always get. My post-rate will decrease for sure--more so once Outpost starts.
Great summary post by the way. Also (and please don't take this as an insult) but Gahlethea is impressed with McCalister.
Bob McCalister |
Oh no worries. I was just giving you all a hard time. I'm enjoying it immensely.
Keep it up! :-)
GM Gustavef |
I will be somewhat out of pocket this weekend, so updates will slow down a bit. But otherwise I should be checking in at least once a day to move things along.
Maria Kuerlara |
GM, how do you handle perceptions? I can work with any setup.
Elphie... hrmmm, deciding if that is backdoor racist. :P
Gahlethea the Arcanely Blonde |

I can't speak for Gahlethea (Well, actually, I guess I do), but she didn't intend that nickname because she is a racist. As I think she would most likely tell you, Gahlethea doesn't see race. She just sees herself and then occasionally notices all of those unfortunate people that are beneath her. She is an equal opportunity offender. : )
In all honesty, I chose the name because Gahlethea was patterned after the character in Wicked, who used the same nickname for her "project" in the musical. Plus, I loved being able to have Gahlethea decided, after giving Maria a nickname, that using Maria's proper nickname, was too formal. So she invented a nickname for Maria's nickname!
Maria Kuerlara |
Since it is up to Maria whether she considered the nickname to be subtly racist... I doubt she thinks that witchy is is the kind of being who would be subtle about anything. :D
Gahlethea the Arcanely Blonde |
True. Subtlety is definitely not Gahlethea's expertise!
Kossar |
Shall we set up a door macro for the GM to use? I am happy to go first or second and kick in doors where needed.
Kossar |
For example:
Marcello Trap Spotting: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Savaro Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Naruhito Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Kossar Strength to Bust Door: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Kossar follows Naruhito into the room.
(spoiler=Door)
(dice=Marcello Trap Spotting)1d20+4(/dice)
(dice=Savaro Perception)1d20+7(/dice)
(dice=Naruhito Perception)1d20+4(/dice)
(dice=Kossar Strength to Bust Door)1d20+5(/dice)
Kossar follows Naruhito into the room.
(/spoiler)
GM Gustavef |
I have the bulk perceptions already.
But I am assuming that you are always trap finding and similar checks.
I will set up a "default door opening position" template for both tables.
GM Gustavef |
Gahlethea (and others) have you played Mist of Mwangi (PFS 0-05)yet?
Gahlethea the Arcanely Blonde |
I have seriously played Mists (PFS-05) in standard format a few years back, so Gahlethea would not be available. It would be a fun one to whimsily play.
A delightful nightmare for Gahlethea! But, I bet you knew that.
However, I do hope your question is prompted by a desire to keep a whimsy table going in some manner. If playing for PFS credit, there a quite a few adventures that I have not yet played, although I realize that not all scenarios may lend themselves to a whimsy play-style.
I was thinking First Steps - In Service of Lore would be a lot of fun as a whimsy adventure. Also, chronologically and thematically, I believe it follows Fallen Fortess quite well. If I am not mistaken, it is also an evergreen.
Full disclosure, I ran a modified version of that scenario for a home game a few years back now, but have not played it for PFS credit. That being said, I think I can do an adequate job-especially with Gahlethea-of not allowing meta-player knowledge to influence the character's decisions.
The High Fool |
I've played Mists as well. Not sure which low-level adventures I haven't played, although virtually anything from season 8 or 9 would be safe, but we could always just do another evergreen.
Maria Kuerlara |
I'm currently playing Mists in Core (Outpost) and have already played it in Standard. I am totally up for something else and was even hoping that this group could continue along.
It has been quite fun. I had another 'laughing at my desk' moment today caused by Gahlethea.
Bob McCalister |
I believe I've done Mists, would have to double check my master list.
That aside, if we found something for us to continue with, I would be on board with the idea.
