Which materials work best with Dead Suns?

Advice

Hello, I am getting ready to run a table top game of Starfinder's first AP, Dead Suns. My group would like to use battle maps and miniatures. My question is which materials fit best with Dead Suns? Specifically the battle maps? Anything else that anyone could recommend would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

We are using a Chessex reversable megamat and some wet erase markers for the map. Best part about that is it has hexes on the reverse side for the space battles.

Dark Archive

The Starfinder Pawns are pretty great and affordable is you can get away with cardboard standees instead of minis. Otherwise you're goona have trouble finding accurate representations of most things until the minis from that kickstarter ship.

If you want actual minis here are some suggestions though:

*Reaper's Chronoscpes line has a decent variety of some common scifi tropes that could be handy for player characters

*If you need groups of similar minis to match humanoid enemies, Mantic's Deadzone and Warpath minis match the aesthetic and are reasonably priced for minis. Usually $20ish for units of 10. The enforcer pathfinders might work well for the human gang members early on and plague victims might work for the undead later on

*For non-humanoid beasties, it might be best to look for a fantasy equivalent. Reaper would again be my go to here. The Akatas are pretty close to blink dogs for example.

Space ships depends on how fancy you want to get. You can find bulk cheapo plastic spaceships on Amazon that could easily work.

Syrinscape

Not mini or battlemap related but take a look at Syrinscape. We produce the official sounds for Starfinder (and Pathfinder) and are making soundsets for each of the Dead Suns books as well as the various ships and weapons from the core rule books.

The "Incident at Absalom Station" SoundPack gives you the complete audio solution when playing the first chapter of Starfinder's "Dead Suns". All the preparation is done for you and every sound you'll need is right at your fingertips.

You certainly want to check out the reversible Basic Terrain map or other SF Flip-Mat options for Incident at Absalom Station and beyond, and also just because they're hecka cool af! I know some people have had issues with gridlines lining up, but nobody at my table has really been impacted by it and I've run it twice thus far, potentially running it a third time very soon. That said, I'm a pretty big fan of the flip-mats in general because I can fit them in a backpack and how easily they clean up.

Seconded on the pawn collection as well, I've gotten some great mileage on the Alien Archive one and want to get the other set.

These posts were very helpful. Thank you so much! I need to get shopping on these.

Canot this be downloaded into roll20 and how?

Mini wise, I've been surprised by how many options are out there once I started looking. Chronoscape, warhammer 40k, infinity, star wars (assault or legion) the mantic options already mentioned... I've been able to find something for just about every build I've looked for. For ships I have kit bashed star wars micromachines, firestorm armada, dropfleet commander... the site shapeways has hundreds of options as well. I can't recommend that chessex flip mat enough, works great for everything.
