Teleport: Areas of strong physical or magical energy

Rules Questions

Has there been any official comments made in any of the books, errata, or dev comments on the boards about what exactly this means?

Are they saying if you teleport into a volcano you die from lava? Or are they saying that due to the elemental energy of the volcano you cant teleport there at all? I'm assuming the latter to be true, but have not found anything to clarify this statement.

While I'm certain there have been some excellent house rulings on this statement (and it would be fun to compare notes on that in a separate thread) what I'm looking for here is a more or less official answer supported by PF RAW.

I'm not aware of anything. I suspect it's just there to give GMs an ready made excuse to go 'nope, doesn't work' as teleport is notorious for messing with planned adventures.

More or less my suspicion as well but I'm curious if anyone as come across more than that.

It is primarily so DMs have something to point to when they say you can't teleport into the Underdark, villain's lair, hidden magical island, etc.

Paizo designer's rarely post officially in this thread.
you might try the "Ask ____ anything" where they can give you their personal opinion (not an official ruling).

Clearly the text is there to give home GM's a reason and a method to say no. It's been officially used in published scenarios to shut down Teleport. So that would be your official ruling...

Liberty's Edge

To cite James Jacobs (not on this specific question) "whatever work best for tale you want to create".
It is a GM decision when that came into effect. The only important thing is to be coherent on how it work.
