Use of Quick Draw Shield & Quick Draw Feet.

Rules Questions

Hi there so in my present game I am playing a Inquisitor of Ragathiel Allowing me proficiency with a Bastard Sword.

My Current Build has me in my lower levels using a Heavy shield in 1 Hand and 1 handing the Bastard Sword in another.

I am in possession of a Light Steel Quick Draw Shield +1 which would be the same as wielding my heavy steel shield.

We are about to hit level 3 and I am considering taking Quick Draw to use with a later plan of Two-Weapon Fighting.

My Curiosity is the following.

If I have Quick Draw and use this feet in combination with the shield can I perform a turn as follows.

> Put Away Shield < Free Action
> Grip my Bastard Sword with both hands and Attack Action<
> Return my Bastard Sword to a one handed Grip< ?Move Action?
> Re Equip Shield < Free Action

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Pretty sure it was one of the devs who mentioned it, but changing the "handedness" of a grip on a weapon is more or less a free action. All of this seems pretty legal to me as long as you have Quick Draw, although it is the final say of a GM as to how many free actions you can take on your turn.

Also, for future reference, it's "feat", not feet in this case. :v

If you are wielding it as a longspear, though, to threaten the further squares, then your grip precludes the use as an improvised blunt weapon. The rules are silent on how long it would take to shift between the two, but switching between a one-handed and a two-handed grip with a one-handed weapon like a longsword is a free action (and can thus be only taken on your turn), so it should take at least as long as that, thus preventing you from simultaneously threatening all of the squares at once.

Not sure if there's a better source for that.
