Best class for an animal companion

Advice

So scrolling through the Animal companion list, i noticed my new favorite addition The Titaniboa. Long story Short i don't have much other than i want to build around making this Giant snake as awesome as possible.

To do that i should probably pick whatever class is best at animal companion, Which would that be really?

I have nothing else really decided about this character other than Titaniboa.

A hunter is really built around the animal companion. A druid gets higher level buff spells faster, but the hunter's animal aspect, access to ranger spells as well, and teamwork feats (especially outflank, pack flanking, and improved spell sharing) can make for a very effective partnership.

I'll second the hunter, or maybe a sacred huntsmaster inquisitor. From 7th level on, this snake looks like it would make a great mount. It also gets reach, so you can just take Outflank, Pack Flanking, and Paired Opportunists, grab a lance or a fauchard, and you'll be good to go.

Yep, Hunter is the way to go.

Hunters have the biggest edge when it comes to buffing their A.C., at least for standard organized play. I haven't taken a good look at the druid spell list in terms of AC buff spells at levels 7-9 but hunters get to grant teamwork feats to their ACs

Hunter is amazing if you want the AC to really shine.

Sacred huntmaster is a hunter like inquisitor that open up some very intresting possibility especially with Improved Spell Sharing.

The titanoboa is a good grappler I have used it with a natures FANG druid archer. Grappled target are much easier to hit.

If you want to do some really odd stuff with animal sylvan sorcerer can pull some wired stuff with their spell list and share spell.

I should mention the druid. They have 9th level casting this mean there spell slots are less valuable than that of there 6th level counter parts, so they can spend more the them buff the animal. Strong jaw, animal growth, magic fang, aspect of the wolf, hunter's blessing, etc. I have not compared a buffer druid ac to a hunter one. I feel the hunters comes out a head but I bet they are closer than one my think. The hunter does get early access which helps open the gap again.

My vote is hunter as well. They really have the best animal companions. Aspects giving
simple buffs are great and teamwork feats add up.o

hunter or nature shaman, unless you count any kind of pet as an animal companion then summoner

Aasimar would be a good race for having an Animal Companion due to the Celestial Servant feat. This gives your pet Spell Resistance, DR and smite.
An orc druid has a Favored Class bonus, which adds +1/2 damage to your Animal Companions Natural Attacks.

Since the Titanoboa is mostly a Grappler with it's Grab and Constrict ability, you want to make it good at that. Maybe a Barbarian could be an option here. The Ferocious Beast line and Amplified Rage could really make your boa strong. Strength Surge would allow it to Grapple everyone.

Another possibillity to make your boa rock would be addidng extra attacks via Evolved Companion.

The Mad Dog barbarian gets an AC but at the cost of reduced and delayed rage though your snake would be able to rage with you.

The Wild Child brawler gets an AC as well and brawlers are pretty good.

okay so looks like hunter is the best choice, should have figured, Thanks people.

any feats or companion archetypes i should look out for? I was looking at the Draconic Companion archetype because the idea of a massive Dragon snake is Awesome.

I highly recommend these:

Escape Route (No AoOs when moving when next to your companion, low priority)
Outflank (Hunter gives this free at level 2, increases Flank bonus to +4)
Pack Flanking (Flank with your companion while adjacent to it)
Improved spell sharing (Split the duration of your buffs, but use 1 spell to buff both you and your companion at the same time)
Planar Focus (MY GOD, TAKE THIS, IT'S SO GOOD)

All of those are teamwork feats except Planar Focus. From lvl3, hunter shares all of his teamwork feats with their animal companions.

i recommend. Sacred Huntmaster

All the good stuff from the hunter and still have a lot of the good inquisitor stuff.

Just be aware that you'll then need to make SR checks if you ever want to buff the animal in a fight.
