[PFS] What do I need to own to have Wadjet as a god?

Pathfinder Society

Hi
I am looking to build a new PFS legal Cleric
I want to take Wadjet as a diety, which I understand is legal for play.
My investigation suggests that I need to own an adventure:
Pathfinder Adventure Path #80: Empty Graves (Mummy’s Mask 2 of 6)

As a player I am not keen on having to buy an adventure to get a part of character creation :(

Question:
Do I need to own the above book to have Wadjet as a god?

If not, what ruling / consolidation is it allowed under?

Many thanks!

As far as I know that's the only book that includes the "Ancient Osirion" (aka Egyptian) deities. :(

You will need to have it to play a Wadjeti cleric.

In order to use any character option, from races to classes to deities and so on, you need to own the source it comes from.

It does indeed appear that Wadjet was only published in the source you mentioned, so you would need to own that source.

Perhaps you can find a used print version somewhere for cheap?

Or maybe we can suggest a different deity for you. What is it that draws you to Wadjet?

You need to own and present when asked a legal source for a cleric's deity. No ruling has altered this.

You can get that AP instalment as a PDF from this site and print the relevant pages. I've done so for a similar reason.

I checked (because the index isn't entirely reliable) that the Ancient Osirian gods are not listed in Inner Sea Gods.

“Screeeeeee!” The eagle flaps its wings excitedly. I’m here! I’m here!

Then he hears the two-leggers talking again. Oh. You said WADJET. The eagle’s feathers ruffle up in annoyance. You’d think these humans would have the sense to venerate ME. Oh well. Their loss. The eagle preens itself for a moment, and then takes off.

To clarify something, which does not help the OP, you don't need the source to have a deity as your character's deity as long as it does not provide you a mechanical benefit.

So clerics (since their favored weapon and domains are mechanical benefits) need the source.

Tim the Wizard can worship Ptah as part of his backstory without owning the source.

I do apologize for not having the link to the OPC post, but it was just reiterated recently.

That is true.

The OP used "to have Wadjet as a god" and "to take Wadjet as a diety".

I assumed they meant "worship", but if they meant to just "venerate" a god, and not gain any mechanical advantage from it, then you would not need to own the source.

You could even venerate Red Robin, the misguided chicken god, if that was case.

I'd say that's a safe bet.

I have a character in a home Mummy's Mask game who worships Wadjet, and thus named himself Wadjet. I'm not going to lie, I was confused because I forgot it was an actual god and came here to figure out how and why someone wanted to worship my home player character.

I believe this got clarified by Tonya and John in a message board post, that it should be Golarion themed.

EDIT:

HERE is where Tonya incorporates venerating silly or non-Golarion themed into the community policy. You could venerate literally anything, but you'd be expected to tone down things other players are uncomfortable with.

Thanks for the assistance guys.
Looks like I will need to buy if I want to stay Wadjet.

Reasoning for Wadjet started as mechanical:
I am building a Reach / summoning cleric, focus on the standard action summons and attacks of opportunity (From the reach cleric guide)
I wanted the Sacred Summons to come online earlier than it does for CG Desna.
This gave me LG deities.
I went through all the LG deities and their domains and flavours.
Wadjet lept out at me as I LOVE the travel domain and the blessing of Wadjet was a favourite in PF Card Game Mummy's Mask (my favourite PFACG)
Going Wadjet would allow me to go Orison for background and add a lot of "stranger in a strange land" flavour.

I like to be mechanically competent and then wrap a story concept around the character as I build and the Orison angle came nicely.

My fallback is probably to go Iomedae (Tactics domain)

Thanks for taking the time to fill me in.
SLOWLY learning the PFS beast :-)

If you want LG deities with the Travel Domain and more useful books (more likely to get more use per dollar), there's Apsu and Zohls. Both of those could still apply to a cleric from Osirion.

Just purchase the PDF. I think it's only $10? Then just print out the section you need.

$15.99 for AP chapters. A rather big chunk of change for access to one deity for one character, so I can't fault the OP for looking for an alternative.

Inner Sea Gods (Zohls) is $27.99 and Inner Sea Faiths (Apsu) is $17.99, but you get a lot more features for the price: feats, traits, PrCs in addition to the deities.

Thanks. Will investigate

Zohls also appears (with a rather more detailed entry) in the slightly cheaper Chronicle of the Righteous. Though Inner Sea Gods is definitely worth picking up. ^_^
