If I crammed a Race into a single Feat approximately how many Race Points would that be?

Homebrew and House Rules

So, ignoring the wonkiness of the Race Point system, if you were going to give out racial features in feats approximately how much could you give per feat?

My idea is that rather than having to make new races for every concept I have I instead make feats out of their key traits and then use humans as the base. These feats can be taken as bonus or regular 1st-level.

The question is how RP I can invest in each feat?

The human bonus feat is worth 4 points. That being said, I think hardy the dwarven racial trait, is only worth 2. So the race point values are all sorts of messed up.

"Static bonus feat" is worth 2 RP, I usually use that as my yardstick. (As in, "Is fast healing 1 really worth 3 feats? No, I should reduce the RP cost.")

That's a static bonus feat with no prerequisites. That's basically saying "a bad feat."

not really there are plenty of feats that are good that don't have prerequisites

RP are already arbitrary and not balanced against each other. Trying to come up with a formula to convert them to feats, which are also arbitrary and not balanced against each other, seems rather silly. I suggest looking at the specific qualities you want to imbue and deciding how to parcel them out on a case-by-case basis.

Agreed, and there are a multitude of "bad" feats that do have prerequisites.

And how am I supposed to know how to do that?

Compare them to existing feats, or just pick something and hope it works out. Welcome to gamemastering. : )

Then F@% me doing this $#!+, I'm letting the players make their own races.

I will suggest that you get your players to play existing races first and foremost.
If they really want to make their own, I suggest that you post their ideas here and we can help you check the balance of them.

I don't have any players and am not wasting time waiting for someone to critique their builds, it takes long enough to make everything else for this damn game.

And I'm not forcing them to use existing races: I hate those, and that way lies restriction which is BAD.

I understand. You seem quite set in your idea, and while I feel it may not be the best option I will see what I can do.

You are trying to make all the potential races equal in power by keeping human as a base and then replacing the bonus feat with some racial abilities?

At this point I think it's clear to me that I don't really care about racial balance insofar as it's too much work. I'm just going to give up and do whatever the hell I want and not drag other people into it.
