The playtest for the Psionics Guide continues! While we continue to digest all the information from Wave 1 - Signal Confirmed - now get ready for Wave 2 - Signal Decoded.

In this round of the playtest is the Specialist class, a psionic manifester who is a versatile and adaptable class that takes its roots from the Marksman, Dread, and Cryptic classes from Pathfinder.

Also included are the rules for Autohypnosis, three more feats, psionic focus, power displays, manifesting rules, and forty psionic powers. Constantly hungry for feedback, folks, lay it on me if you’ve got it!

Wouldn't the inclinations do better as themes?

Cool. Now it makes me wonder, are Psion, Psychic Warrior, and Vitalist on the list for future playtests/conversion?

...Noooo? Can I get you to expand on what you mean by this? The point of comparison they're meant to fall under is closer to a soldier's combat style or a mystic's connection.

Psion most definitely is; they remain the premier manifesters among the stars. Vitalist and Tactician have kinda been swallowed into a new identity, the Integrator, who uses and manipulates collectives.

Psychic Warrior...is still maybe on the table, but sorta suffers from its niche becoming the default state of the system? Even the dedicated manifesters or spellcasters like psion or technomancer are significantly more gishy than almost anything in Pathfinder, and as a result Psychic Warrior ends up as a solution to a problem that's already been solved. Something that takes heritage from it may appear down the line.

They look more like themes to me. With the Specialist gaining certain things at certain levels. A fighting style doesn't offer things at levels. Although the Solarian comes with options at certain levels. Perhaps if you remove the leveling, or make it look more like the Solarian revelations. As they stand now, they look like they could do well as themes.

Cool, can't wait to see it.

Even so, I've always liked the psychic warrior. Yea it's not as great as some others, but I still liked it. I've been trying to work on my own conversion of it, as the Warrior Path's fit well with the Mystic Connections, Operative Specializations, and Soldier Fighting Styles.

I suppose you could break up the psychic warrior into expanded options for other classes or even an archetype. though I have to say the warrior paths could make for a solid way to make a class viable.

Going to be honest, I imagined you guys fusing psychic warrior with soulknife to make a class anew (though making soulknife available to everyone via a feat/archetype is certainly neat and I like it).

I WOULD be interested in a few of the Athanitism (anathatism?) powers from seventh path making it to your new core, if in a limited way at first.

Good to have some free decoded signal playtestin' stuff for SF out there. ;)

A mini-rant. The name Mind Pierce is not very intimidating. What about Phrenic/Psychic/Psion Assault ? Mind-Smite ? Psychic Smite.

Looks really cool otherwise.
