Dwarves Deep

Recruitment

1 to 50 of 261 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | next > last >>

1 person marked this as a favorite.

"Woe was the night the darkness came, creeping from below, with ax and shield, bolt and blade the lost children of Foehammer came to reclaim. After that night those who were not taken by blade or by chain fled to the surface. The ancient home of the Forehammers shattered by the lost children of the deep. over a thousand years have passed and the fallen clan has become entrenched in the valley below the mountain. It's warriors now craftsmen, merchants, and mercenaries. Others left and joined other clans. So much that now only a few hundred dwarves of Foehammer truly remain."

The Foehammers once a mighty and prosperous clan of Mithral Miners, has become little more than a small clan managing a quarry and known for its Foehammer ales, and its dwarven mercenaries. Working out of the village of Ulverin. They have done quite well. Still, they are not truly at home in their outpost.

The clan elders had almost given up hope of ever seeing the ancient and hallowed halls of Agnur'Khul, when a recent group of adventurers returning from the old fort turned Orc stronghold "Dwarves Deep" recovered not only some artifacts from the original exodus from Angur'Kul, but recently crafted Mithral that the elders have divined belongs to the mines of Angur'Khul.

Seeing signs that the tunnels to the ancient hold have been opened, the Elders have gathered some of its worthy(yet expendable) clan members to make the perilous journey to see if the divinations are true and if Angur'Khul is ready to reclaim!

Dwarves!

How useful is a Forgemaster going to be? Do you foresee opportunities and time to forge stuff?

Any details on build, or do you want candidates to focus on backstory and flavour?

Golarion deities, or another set?

I'm considering pulling out an old Dwarven Cleric concept. I need to find the right deity to work with it, though.

I am also fond of a Dwarven spellcaster, focused on the creation of items, but that requires the entire team be willing to spend the downtime (and treasure) required to get the custom crafted equipment . . .. Then there's also the bit about how to distribute the XP cost of item creation so that the one character doesn't become a sacrificial lamb without access to the spells necessary for the desired items. Thus, my first look being at the other concept.

And my Axe!

Okay, so this campaign will focus on the Reclamation of the Ancient dwarven Stronghold of Angur'Khul. Those who seek to reclaim it must make a character with the following criteria.

Level:2, because you have proven that you are the trainees but not yet made indispensable to the current clan's operations.

Race: Dwarves(Duh), Oread(Dwarf Blood only), with a small chance of gnomes and Svirfneblin.

Stats: Either you can roll for your stats or you can do a 25 point build. As for the rolls, I suggest 4d6 reroll ones and twos and keep the highest 3. So example you roll 6,2,3,5 reroll the 2 you get a 6 making it 6,6,3,5 you keep the 6,6,and 5 thus getting a 17.

Classes: I will allow any Pathfinder Published class.Yes Gunslingers are allowed.

Skills: I will allow for Background skills. I will also add each dwarf has some actual Profession, Craft or Appraise that is from there apprenticeship. This skill you will get 4 points in, despite the other rules.

Feats: Oread will get Dwarf Blood, Due to this everyone gets a bonus feat.

Traits: I like traits, No traits that give you extra spending cash please. Otherwise, I don't really mind.

Wealth: Normal Starting Wealth plus wealth for a second level character.

Looking for 6 to 7 member party that will work together to reclaim and rebuild the Foehammer clan anew.

Yes Downtime will be a thing. This is a character-driven rp. One that you as a group will shape. Hoping to have just as much or more downtime interaction as adventuring.

As for Gods, I love the dwarven gods of 3.5 Races of Stone, and Forgotten Realms.

love me some dwarves. How long do we have?

Also, I am looking for cohesiveness So you will need to work together, build together.

@DjDust...I am gonna say a week

I'm interested, dwarves are fun.

What campagin setting will this be set in?

Homemade

We will use Golarion Gods (Save Torag) but the Classic DnD Racial gods

4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 1, 3) = 11
1d6 ⇒ 1
1d6 ⇒ 5 12

4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 3, 5) = 13

3d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 1) = 13 18

18/18/15/13/13/12

Hey Grumbaki

You keep rerolling the 1s and 2s

I'm game for that, I'm trying to think of something to represent to you.

rolls and rerolls:

4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 5, 1) = 11=15
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 2, 4) = 12=14
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 1, 6) = 11=16
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 5, 3) = 18=15
4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 5, 4) = 15=14
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 6, 2) = 20=18

rerolls
reroll set 1: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2
reroll set 1-b: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 5) = 10
reroll set 2: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2
reroll set 2-b: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 6) = 10
reroll set 3: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 2) = 9
reroll set 3-b: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 5) = 8
reroll set 4: 1d6 ⇒ 2
reroll set 4-b: 1d6 ⇒ 2
reroll set 4-c: 1d6 ⇒ 3

15,14,16,15,14,18. Yes I can work with this.

Hey Grumbaki, fancy seeing you here.
Can we take drawbacks and if so, how many?

dice for stats:

5d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 4, 4, 6) = 18 14 5
7d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 1, 6, 2, 1, 3) = 23 16 10
6d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6) = 19 13 3
5d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 2, 3, 6) = 19 14 5
4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 5, 6) = 18 15 7
6d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 1, 4, 3, 6) = 21 15 7

That's a 37 point build! WOW.

The only row where it could be argued I missed the boat on the reroll intent (rerolling a single die 3 times), I didn't use that die at all, anyway!

3.5 Dwarven Gods? Time to pull those references back out . . ..

Rolls:

4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 4) = 92d6 ⇒ (1, 2) = 32d6 ⇒ (1, 5) = 61d6 ⇒ 4
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 6, 5) = 19
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 3, 4) = 121d6 ⇒ 4
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 6, 1) = 142d6 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 3, 1) = 112d6 ⇒ (5, 2) = 71d6 ⇒ 6
4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 4, 6) = 122d6 ⇒ (3, 1) = 41d6 ⇒ 5

Oy vey. Ok, so:
4, 3, 5, 4=13
4, 4, 6, 5=15
4, 3, 4, 4=12
6, 6, 3, 4=16
5, 3, 5, 6=16
4, 6, 3, 5=15

16, 16, 15, 15, 13, 12

Interesting. An Oread would be fun. Can they take Dwarf racial archetypes, since they're dwarf-blooded?

So far interesting Stats rolled. Am intrigued as to what will come of the stats

@Ouachitonian, I'll allow it

Woot, team oread! In all seriousness, I plan on playing an oread druid or war priest(Forgepriest).

My rolls:

roll: 6d6 - 7 ⇒ (6, 1, 1, 6, 5, 6) - 7 = 18
roll: 6d6 - 5 ⇒ (3, 1, 3, 4, 1, 5) - 5 = 12
roll: 6d6 - 6 ⇒ (6, 6, 6, 2, 1, 3) - 6 = 18
roll: 4d6 - 3 ⇒ (6, 6, 3, 3) - 3 = 15
roll: 7d6 - 9 ⇒ (5, 1, 6, 5, 2, 1, 6) - 9 = 17
roll: 6d6 - 6 ⇒ (5, 1, 3, 2, 4, 3) - 6 = 12

That's insane. I was going to go with a sorcerer, but with those rolls I need to do something MAD like a monk.

Okay, Hanseath is the right dwarven god for the concept.

Alignment and domains are a LITTLE bit of a challenge, but that's workable. Probably has access to the Revelry subdomain of Chaos . . ..

CG or N for the Cleric. Hmmmm . . ..

Maybe Warpriest?

Heh heh. Dwarves are go!

stats1: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 1, 3) = 12
stats2: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 6, 1) = 18
stats3: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 5, 6) = 18
stats4: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 2, 6) = 18
stats5: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 4, 5) = 13
stats6: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 3, 1) = 8

stats reroll of the 1 in roll 1: 1d6 ⇒ 3
stats reroll of the 1 in roll 2: 1d6 ⇒ 6
stats reroll of the 2 in roll 3: 1d6 ⇒ 4
stats reroll of the 2 in roll 4: 1d6 ⇒ 2
stats reroll of the 2's in roll 5: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 4) = 10
stats reroll of the 1's in roll 6: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 2) = 5

stats reroll of the reroll in roll 4: 1d6 ⇒ 4

After rerolls I have.
12. 18. 16. 16. 15. 9.

I'm thinking a Deep Ranger with Hunting party rather than animal companion. Share the joy of favored enemy. :)

Lantern Lodge

The dice:
roll 1: 7d6 - 8 ⇒ (5, 4, 2, 2, 1, 3, 3) - 8 = 12
roll 2: 4d6 - 3 ⇒ (4, 6, 5, 3) - 3 = 15
roll 3: 7d6 - 7 ⇒ (6, 1, 2, 5, 3, 1, 6) - 7 = 17
roll 4: 5d6 - 4 ⇒ (6, 3, 1, 4, 4) - 4 = 14
roll 5: 6d6 - 6 ⇒ (1, 6, 4, 2, 6, 3) - 6 = 16
roll 6: 6d6 - 7 ⇒ (5, 6, 2, 4, 1, 6) - 7 = 17

That looks nice. I'm thinking of going for an old standard in the Dwarf Fighter but give it a twist.

Hey Teiidae!

Did my rerolls and ended up with a very respectable...

18/18/15/13/13/12

Now what to play? I’m thinking bloodrager (earth elemental bloodline) could be thematic and useful to the party.

Thinking a dwarf cleric, 25 point build

Going to go with a Slayer. With trapfinding. Good for any party. :)

Grumbaki here! Making the character, very excited for this. Going to have our trapfinding needs taken care of. :)

You had me at dwarves.

A bunch of dice rolling:

4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 1, 2) = 9
3 rerolls: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 2) = 8
2 rerolls: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 6) = 11 Roll1= 16

4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 6, 3) = 14
1 reroll: 1d6 ⇒ 4 Roll 2 = 13

4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 5, 6) = 19 Roll 3 =15

4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 1, 3) = 6
3 rerolls: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 6) = 16 Roll 4 =16

4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 5, 4) = 13
1 reroll: 1d6 ⇒ 6 Roll 5 = 15

4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 1, 4) = 12
2 rerolls: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 6) = 10 Roll 6= 16

16/16/16/16/15/13

Can do just about anything with these rolls. Hmmm.

dice:

4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 4, 5) = 14
1d6 ⇒ 6
15

4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 6, 1) = 19
1d6 ⇒ 3
18

4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 6, 6) = 22
18

4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 4, 6) = 17
14

4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 5, 5) = 20
15

4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 3, 3) = 10
1d6 ⇒ 4
10

15, 18, 18, 14, 15, 10

a 53 point buy cost, I'll take it.

I'm thinking about a Hunter, with a Ram animal companion. I'm such a DF nerd, and in all of my fortresses, it's always a speardwarf who becomes the biggest bad@$$, so probably something with that image in mind.

The Rolls:

Initial Roll
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 5, 6) = 21

4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 4, 6) = 14

4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 2, 3) = 10

4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 5, 5) = 14

4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 4, 1) = 12

4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 5, 1) = 17

Rerolls 1
2d6 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3

2d6 ⇒ (1, 5) = 6

1d6 ⇒ 6

2d6 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4

1d6 ⇒ 3

Rerolls 2
2d6 ⇒ (1, 6) = 7

1d6 ⇒ 2

1d6 ⇒ 4

Rerolls 3
1d6 ⇒ 6
1d6 ⇒ 4

Final stats: 18/16/16/16/13/12

A 12 and a 13! *gasp* Might as well give up now.

I have no idea what to do with a 52 point buy haha, but I will give a character some thought.

Ya! You guys make me feel underpowered with my 49 points ;)

A question for my Fighter: Is Combat Stamina allowed? If it is, would it be the "free for fighters" variant or would you still need to grab it the normal way?

HP? All rolled? Max at 1st, half+1 for others?

I Combat Stamina, Never used it before

Huston good question, full hp at first, roll for the subsequent levels

Rolls:

4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 3, 6) = 16

reroll 1: 1d6 ⇒ 1
reroll 1: 1d6 ⇒ 2
reroll 2: 1d6 ⇒ 2

3rd roll 1: 1d6 ⇒ 6

Third stat 6,6,5 = 17

4th roll 2: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Sixth stat 6,6,6 = 18

Results
18,18,17,17,12,11

63 point buy. Heck yes!

What drove the clan from its home? Abberations? Goblinoids? Undead?

Lantern Lodge

Combat Stamina and it's explanation are found here. It was printed in Pathfinder Unchained to give fighters some more versatility.

The feat itself is this:

Combat Stamina wrote:

You stop at nothing to drive your attack home.

Prerequisite(s): Base attack bonus +1.

Benefit(s): You gain a stamina pool. After you make an attack roll with a manufactured weapon, unarmed strike, or natural weapon attack with which you are proficient, but before the results are revealed, you can spend up to 5 stamina points. If you do, you gain a competence bonus on the attack roll equal to the number of stamina points you spent. If you miss with the attack, the stamina points you spent are still lost.

Special: Since you have a stamina pool, you can spend your stamina points to use any combat tricks associated with combat feats you possess.

The size of the pool is BAB+Con mod.

As for the Combat Tricks, they basically are extra options for a selection of combat feats. The page I linked has them all and archives of nethys actually displays the trick in the entry of the associated feat.

An example would be the use with Power Attack, which allows you to spend 2 stamina points to retain the bonuses and penalties of Power Attack until your next turn instead of until the end of your turn.

Woooo Dwarves.

Rolls and Rerolls:

Stat1: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 2, 6) = 15
Stat2: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 2, 2) = 12

So right now I'm look at a Dwarf Reincarnated Druid. Possible story hook being that they only know themself as 'Foehammer' and stumble down from the mountain into the valley, and no one can figure out who they are, but they feel a pulling back towards the mountain (for 7 days, the amount of time they can sense their last body).

Favored enemy of the area are Goblins, Giants, Orcs as for the enemies who took the Hall, it has been a secret held by the elders.

Combat Stamina...hmmm seems interesting but harmless so sure thing

Very intriguing!

So many possibilities! I think I'll look at an arcane caster of some sort. Would Dugmaren Brightmantle be available as a deity?

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Campaign Setting, Companion, Maps, Modules, Pawns, Roleplaying Game Subscriber; Starfinder Charter Superscriber

Very interesting, will have to consider.

@ Markofbane yes definitely on Dugmaren Brightmantle!

Positively awful by the standards set above :-).
