RSS subscriptions not working

Website Feedback

I have been having trouble getting any new RSS feeds to set up in my reader (Feedly). All the old ones that I set up previously still work fine. When I run the URL from the link button through an RSS validator, I keep getting timeout errors.

The URLs we provide have the text "&xml=atom" in them. Does it change anything for you if you replace that bit with "&xml=rss"?

Sure does, it pops up instantly.

I'm not actually sure what that means; to be frank, I thought it had about a 1% chance of making a difference. Did you update your Feedly recently?

I have no idea if they updated, it is a website.

I've been trying to get some RSS set up for a PbP I just joined and I'm thinking it's because of the time it takes to build the RSS pages.

My first result for each feed was:

Quote:
<html><body><strong>No instance available</strong></body></html>

...but it took almost a minute (unfortunately I didn't time it) to get to that point. After that, each page started loading much faster. Of course, "much faster" is between 10 and 30 seconds.

I don't know for sure--hard to debug someone else's site--but I would probably bet that our RSS readers are simply making a request and just timing out.

Hmmm. That may be. It might be timing out on the php for some reason. Can you send me a URL in a private message and I'll have it looked at.
