Best AP for a Kobold Character

Pathfinder Adventure Path General Discussion

Lantern Lodge

Hello Community!

I was wondering if I could plumb the collective to see if an answer appears.

I have a groups of friends I want to run an AP for. One of the group wants to be a Kobold, and has come up with an interesting concept. Plus, he is a awesome comedic personality, and whatever character he runs is brilliant and memorable, so I usually give him a long leash.

In the beginning, prior to any sorcererous assistance, he is planning on being the exotic "pet" of another character to make it through civilized parts.

My question is: What would be the best AP for this?

I'm running a whole party of kobolds through Iron Gods because kobolds + grenade launchers = FUN!

Kingmaker has a solid encounter with a kobold tribe very early on. Unless the PCs are overly aggressive, the encounter is most likely to end with the PCs on friendly terms with the kobold tribe. And the tribe's lair is not far from where the PCs are likely to establish a capital city, so the tribe can maintain a presence in the kingdom throughout the campaign.

Honestly, he would fit most AP's. Obviously a Kobold would stick out in most humanoid societies, but you've got that covered. Anything that requires/suggests you to start as inhabitants from a small town might be a stretch, but I could even see RotR working.

Kingmaker and the kobold tribe would be a cool tie in as mentioned above.

Thank all of you for your feedback. Those seem look good choices to investigate.

Silver Crusade

Our group has been running through Rise of the Runelords with a kobold for the past few years. (we don't get to meet nearly as often as we like) The woman running the character chose a reared by humans background/trait to fit her story, but I don't think it would have been 100% necessary for the GM. Our party is 2 humans, a halfling, a gnome and a kobold. (we also adopted a goblin NPC from book 1) We used the random backgrounds from ultimate campaign as a framework, but they meshed amazingly well with only a bit of creativeness on our part.

Shadow Lodge

I think most APs could work, but from personal experience, I have two kobolds in Rise of the Runelords: they're a sort of explorer and diplomat from their tribe, who'd decided to party their way across Varisia in order to update their knowledge of of humans and such. They're both good-aligned, and were happy to emerge victorious in the kobolds vs. goblins vendetta.

I've tried a kobold in Mummy's Mask, and that did work until the GM graduated and moved out, but I'd caution against an all-kobold group for that one.

Skull & Shackles would work - there's an island full of kobolds that lure ships in and scuttle them, and there are plenty of opportunities on a ship for someone who's small, quick, and devious.

Liberty's Edge

Most amusing one is in Mummy's Mask, I had a blast playing a Kobold Sorcerer in that one.
