Running a zombie horde combat?

Rules Questions

Okay, so I've read the zombie horde description and I'm still a little unclear on exactly how one runs the combat.

- How many attacks does the horde get per round? I would imagine as many targets as the horde mass can move and engage without losing cohesiveness?

- How does one reflect damage to the horde? As it takes damage, do I remove pawns from the combat to reflect that the horde is taking damage and gradually falling apart, or does it remain the same size until the horde reaches 0 hit points?

I love the concept, as my party is about to open up a crypt and this will make what would otherwise be a fairly low-level encounter much more interesting, but want to make sure I know how to run it logically.

Any tips will be appreciated!

1) The Zombie Horde is more like a swarm, in that it automatically deals damage to anything in its space at the end of its turn. So one attack that automatically hits against everything inside of its space.

2) Like a regular swarm, it stays at full power until it reaches 0 hit points at which point it disperses. The Horde Traits ability in the statblock indicates that when reduced to 0 hit points that the horde breaks up and 2d6 zombies survive.

Thanks for the info! Hmmm, I may have to mod that. I don't understand the rationale for a horde of 50 zombies attacking a single target per round. I may reduce the damage for each attack, but allow the horde to attack multiple targets while keeping all the other horde traits.

However, the sheer force of the wave attack allows them to deal 6d6 points of damage to any creature whose space they occupy at the end of their move.

Do note that they already attack every creature whose space they occupy, not just a single target.

One thing you could do is borrow from the troop subtype and allow them to damage adjacent foes too.

What book is this zombie horde in? I might have a use for it.

Are there any rules for a smaller group of about 5 or 6 zombies. Some kind of mob rule with stragglers.

Wraith: Rappan Athuk

Doc Chaos: 12-30 creatures good enough?
