Classes that change.

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

After looking at the Terrakineticist in Ultimate Wilderness, it got me wondering if there are any other classes/archetypes that can change so wildly.

Prepared casters can switch out their spells. Mediums have their choice of pretty different Spirits. Shamans have their Wandering Spirit. But those are all things the character gets to pick.

With the Terrakineticist, your element changes based on your terrain, which is only partially under your control, and mostly dependent on where your adventures take you. Are there any others that change so drastically from day-to-day / moment-to-moment while not being in full control of that change?

There are a few more archetypes like that in Ultimate Wilderness. The Geomancer (Occultist archetype) switches an implement for an environment-based set of spells and some minor powerups. I'm sure there are others, but that's the one that jumped into my mind right now.

I don’t know if this fits your criteria, but the brawler can spontaneously gain bonus feats to suit the current battle. Similarly, an alchemist built for diversity could fight three battle in a day and use a different set of tricks in each one. These outcomes can have more greater contrast at higher level.

Those are all things that you get to choose what they are and when they happen. I was more looking for changes not under your control.

I think there's a vigilante Jekyll/Hyde archetype that can make you hulk-out under certain circumstances not necessarily under your control.

Or is that too literal?

Story Summoner gets bonuses to random stats on its summons, and can randomize their summon's alignment.

I think there are more Harrow based archetypes with "draw a card" randomness.
