Jedi in Starfinder

Advice

How might I build a jedi-esqe character in Starfinder system?

Solarian.

I'm using a mystic and asking my DM to change out the Healing touch ability to give Plasma sword proficiency at 1st level (which would give weapon specialization at 3rd) and access to a plasma sword at 3rd level.
I chose Overlord as the connection but any of them would work depending on what type of Jedi you envision.
Everything else can be done with spell and feat selection.

I was thinking more mystic than solarion as well.

The mystic has more "force" power type abilities, which I have always preferred to the lightsaber,.

You could look into Spheres of Power. I have made a Jedi type character using that system. It is built for traditional Pathfinder but it probably wouldn't be too difficult to convert to starfinder.

Probably Starfinder / Advice.

Did not even realize it was in Pathfinder not Starfinder, thanks! Moved.

Mystic for a more force focused character. Phrenic Adept Soldier for a more combat focused Jedi. Consular vs. Guardian, per the old star wars RPG rules

Problem is that jedi are skilled swordsmen, whereas mystics have zero abilities that enhance their melee fighting prowess (or ranged combat prowess for that matter), as well as 3/4 BAB.

I make that mistake and get confused sometimes as well.

All these powers seem to be pretty good Jedi powers to me:
Gravity boost
Gravity hold
Choke
Astrologic sense
Defy gravity
Glow of life
Gravity surge
Hypnotic glow
Reflection
Only thing I'm not seeing if force lighting which could be homebrewed.

I've always thought that the Solarian was SO close to obviously being a Jedi that I was a little surprised that Paizo was sure it could get away with it without being sued.

They even have the Light side and the Dark side :-)

melee based fighter with a force sword and all sorts of tricks. What more could you possibly want?

Forgot to mention Solarian crystals are Jedi crystals essentially.

Paul, to be sued they'd have to do something *far* closer to what a jedi is, given how they can't even sue over a lightsaber unless its specifically called a lightsaber (Anyone can put a blade of light at the end of a hilt in their material, even one that looks largely identical to a lightsaber from star wars. If not, series like Gundam would've gotten hit with a lawsuit ages ago, and games like terraria and no more heroes would've also been quite suspect)

Given how the solarion's philosophy is entirely different from a jedi's (neither focus is inherently good or evil), they tend to wear armor, their weapon is made out of energy they themselves produce in whatever shape they want... 's ultimately no-where near sueably close.

I always thought of Solarian as a almost copy of Destiny/Destiny 2 warlock class missing stormbringer(yay force lighting!)and supers. That would be a fun conversion. but anyway back to Jedi.

Jedi always felt very Mystic to me some martial ablity. I thought advanced class but a mystic/monk or better yet a combined class so you dont suffer from multiclassing.

Lightsaber can be class generated per solarian if you go that route or build their own which is closer to cannon. Think of the quest involved to find the materials! Great story path in the making. Starfinder already has 2 swords that can be used or modified.

High frequency sword-remember Jedi started out with vibroblades before lightsabers

Beam Sword: Which really says lightsaber to me.
There are also Three-section staff-which could be modded to be a double edged lightsaber and Monowhip which could be modded into a force whip.

anyway my two credits worth...

Actually, while I personally lean towards Mystic (different mystic styles can be expressive of different force power specializations) I feel like they work better when complemented by Solarians.

Think about it. In most Star Wars RPGs (especially the fantastic KotOR games) Jedi have multiple classes, each potent in the force but with their own specializations. Jedi Guardians have a more combat focus, making Solarions a good pick for lightsaber duelists who use their powers to supplement their martial prowess. Jedi Consulars focus more on the potency of their force powers, making them a shoe-in for the Mystic.

I made a Jedi-like character out of the mystic class to fantastic effect. Loads of fun to play and far and away captures the feel better than the Solarian.

Solarian can make pretty good Sith characters though.

Just curious and maybe semi looking for a good discussion. Why Solar Armor for a Sith Build? When I think sith I think Darth Vader, Darth Maul, Revan and Darth Nihilus. All are using a Light Saber.

When making Char, I was primarily inspired by a number of slasher flicks, in which the killer is nigh invulnerable. The fact that he much resembles a Sith in many ways is incidental (unlike Polyras, who was made to resemble a Jedi).

My wife is playing a "Jedi". She is Mystic with a 1 level dip in soldier.

It helps that I have a general rule of if someone wants to buy a higher or lower level version of a weapon than exists in the core rulebook, I'll stat one up for them, so I statted up a level 3 plasma sword for her to buy.

Also, I've noted that the Pact Worlds book will have a Star Knight archetype in it, and I'd be legitimately shocked if it wasn't a "Jedi" type thing.
