Portable desert?

Advice

I'm working on a 20th-level monk character and they have an archetype feature that works well with desert terrain. Is there such a way to create the surrounding landscape become desert terrain when needed for encounters?

Well, there's a new spell called Sea of Dust in Ultimate Wilderness that creates deserts, but it's a 9th level druid spell that has a 1 hour casting time and turns the surrounding area into a desert over the course of 1 month.

The shifting sand spell could drag it around a short distance.

He'll be popular in civilization, that's for sure...

When I first saw this thread, I misread the title as "Portable Dessert" . . . .

I haven't found what you are looking for, but somebody figured out how to do the opposite.

Sounds like Sea of Dust or Shifting Sand are my only benefits. So the options would be:

A) Artifact (minor or major)
B) Druid in party
C) Expensive custom magic item (120,000 for continuous SS)
D) Scrolls (375 for SS or SD 3825)
E) Wands (11,250 SS)

A portable hole full of sand?

I mean, if this monk of yours is supposed to be a major villain in the campaign, an artifact that desertifies the surrounding terrain sounds like an appropriate object for said monk to have. Especially at level 20.
