Orc atavism and cloak of human guise

Advice

I am new to pathfinder, and d&d and although a bit overwhelming, have immersed myself in it. But upon building my second character, found a question regarding the alternative racial trait for half orcs called orc atavism. Wondering if it has any cancelling effect on the cloak of human guise. Any clarification is appreciated

you no longer count as human so yes you would no longer get any benefit from the cloak but the alternate trait is sooooo bad you lose like 5 racial traits for the ability to not count as human(usually always a downside) and a +2 str and a -2 to a mental ability score

I have to agree, the alternate racial trait is so horribly terrible/awful, it should never be considered. It's really, really, really, really BAD!!!

As to the question, yes the trait makes you unable to benefit from the item.

it wouldn't be so bad if it made you not human gave you the +2 str and the -2 to a mental stat while allowing you to keep the +2 to any stat while replacing intimidating

Yep, if you kept the floating +2 in addition to the other stats it could be workable. Gaining a 'free' -2 and losing your best options [human] for the privilege of losing 2 other traits too is... I don't even know what to say. I'm not sure who thought this was a good idea.
