Hello guys,
I was thinking of creating a new spell for my Illusionist wizard.
So here is the Spell:
*****************************************************************
Shadow Redirection
School: Illusion(shadow), Sorceror/Wizard(Level ?)
Casting Time : 1 Immediate Action
Components : V,S,F (a mirrored cylinder)
Range : Close(25+ 5ft/2lvl)
Target : 1 Creature or Object
Duration : Instantaneous
Saving Throw : None; see text, Spell Resistance: Yes; See Text.
Using some sort of "portal" from the Shadow Plane (which is reflection of the Material Plane in a way) you can as an immediate action, redirect a Projectile(arrow, javelin etc) or a Ray targeting you, to any creature or object within the spell range. The original attacker must succeed on an Attack Roll on the new target with his/her AC/Touch AC.
If the original attack allows a saving throw, the new target of the Shadow Redirection also receives that Saving Throw. Regardless if the original attack/spell allows Spell Resistance, creatures targeted from Shadow Redirection are allowed Spell Resistance.
*****************************************************************
I would appreciate some opinions on this spell as well as ideas about what level should this spell be. I was think of it being somewhere between 4-5lvl maybe even 6 considering its Immediate Action.

I would say 6 as it is.
I would however perhaps create a lesser version at 2 or 3.
The lesser version requires a roll form the caster to intercept the attack.
He has to make a ranged attack against a dc of the incoming attack roll.
So if the ray has an attack roll of say 20 the wizard has to beat a 20 with his attack roll to successfully intercept the ray.
EDIT
Actually. 5 might be better for the big version.
Maybe also create a greater version, that can redirect multiple rays/projectiles.
The wording is also iffy. A character can always choose to fail a check so the wording " The original attacker must succeed on an Attack Roll on the new target with his/her AC/Touch AC. " makes it seem like he has to make a new attack roll, which means he could choose to intentionally fail the roll and miss

Yes it might not sound quite clear, but all i meant is that if for example the original attacker rolls a 15 on a Ranged Touch attack, he has to compare that to the new target's(the one affected by Shadow Redirection) Touch AC.
