Slow day in the lab, gotta stay awake somehow.

^-^

And the obligatory self-superior post that adds nothing of value!
"We have completed the minimum requirements, now the next stage begins. Use standard procedure C to collect your rewards.

We're in the rules question section and you jumped right into house rules here. As I noted, ALL craft checks are non actions that take a minimum of 1 day to do.

Some craft checks are used to make magic items. These attempts can be 8 hour blocks, 4 hour blocks, or 4 hours cumulative effort spread out through a day.

Quote:
If the caster is out adventuring, he can devote 4 hours each day to item creation, although he nets only 2 hours’ worth of work. This time is not spent in one continuous period, but rather during lunch, morning preparation, and during watches at night.

(My point, if anyone is wondering, is simply that your claim is not factually accurate)

I know, great right? I love the internet.

Greatclubs are, literally, defined as clubs that are too heavy to wield in one hand.

No, they are LITERALLY DESCRIBED that way. Weapon "descriptions" are given, not definitions.

Either way you want to call it, it is still wrong. A greatclub is not too heavy to wield in one hand. They weight 8 pounds. So does the dwarven waraxe (which may be a bad example, as it is an exotic weapon). Heavy crossbows can also be held and fired one handed (though at a penalty). Khopeshes and taiahas are also 8 pound 1 handed weapons (though also both exotic). Large-sized light maces and battle aspergillums are 8 pounds, and 1 handed for medium users (though at a penalty due to wrong size, not weight).

However, a heavy mace is also one handed and 8 pounds. Also a simple weapon, not a martial weapon like the greatclub, so also easier to use. And done so without penalty or being an exotic weapon. Clearly, you can easily wield an 8 pound weapon one handed.

I really wasn't trying to start a fight with this simple question. {sigh}

Folks, we are dealing with a simplified abstraction for a playable game. Not reality.
A whole lot of the system doesn't really make much sense. It also doesn't make much sense that you can have a 300 gp masterwork stick/club.

We are fishing pieces out of the wreckage of a door/frame for pieces that can sorta be used for a one handed or two-handed bashing weapon with little-to-no crafting/modification done to them. I 100% agree this is most appropriately an improvised weapon.
I was only questioning whether club, mace, staff, or hammer type things would be better to use for emulating these improvised weapons.

Short and mostly wood: club

long and mostly wood (and not pointy): staff
short and mostly metal: mace
long and pointy: spear of some variety

I'd stick largely with simple weapons (especially those with x2/20, with a possible x3 in there)

1d6 dmg 20x2. Piercing or bludgeoning (pick once for each piece.)
