How would Vorpal interact with Robots?

Iron Gods

Vorpal.

It specifically says that Vorpal doesn't kill golems. Golems are constructs, robots are constructs. They are different, yes, as robots are sometimes intelligent, but I don't know if a successful Vorpal hit should equal insta-death for a robot. Are all golems unintelligent? Does Vorpal only work on intelligent constructs?

Thoughts? I have a PC working towards getting a Vorpal weapon, and I don't know if I should tell him to put his resources elsewhere. Or, if it DOES work, does that mean my PC have a 1/20 chance (an, of course, he has to confirm) of killing an Iron God?

My guess is that beheading a robot would not kill it. The robot's brain circuitry is probably built into the body and it has no blood to bleed out. In addition, arachnid and annihilator robots lack distinct heads.

However, according to most pictures, robots with heads have their eyes in the head. So an interesting house rule would be that a beheaded robot is blind. And if a weapon was in the head, then it loses that weapon, too. That would make your player's vorpal blade worthwhile.

I would say it depends entirely on the robot. The more humanoid the robot, the more likely it has many of it's core processor units in it's head you could reason.

You could also say that another technological vorpal quality is a weapon similar to the Null Blade. It acts as maybe a Vorpal type weapon only when it is activated or something similar.
