Creating some Pantheons for a Campaign

Homebrew and House Rules

1 to 50 of 81 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

At the moment, I'm making three nations, each with a 20-deity pantheon exclusive to that nation. They are as follows:

Kartan The starting point of the campaign, this nation has a climate and terrain similar to France.
The vastly human citizens that live here are more interested in a strong legal presence than issues of morality.

Deity Alignment Comp:
3 LG, 2 NG, 1 CG
3 LN, 3 TN, 2 CN
3 LE, 2 NE, 1 CE

Lageus To the south of Kartan, this region has a Hawaiian-esque climate and terrain, making this area into a bit of a tourist trap. The locals tend to be carefree and fun-loving, though they have a tradition of appointing lawfully minded citizens to govern the nation. However, they have come to resent the legal decisions made Lawful Good and Lawful Evil politicians.

Deity Alignment Comp:
1 LG, 2 NG, 3 CG
3 LN, 2 TN, 3 CN
1 LE, 2 NE, 3 CE

Aridia Spreading out from the eastern borders of Kartan and Lageus, this region is a harsh desert, dotted with small patches of farmable land and rainforests, that gets hotter the further south you go. The unforgiving nature of this land makes it hard to lead lives of ideals beyond survival, particularly ones of compassion and treachery. The extreme alignment gods, and one of the True Neutral gods, are dragon gods.

Deity Alignment Comp:
1 LG, 2 NG, 1 CG
3 LN, 6 TN, 3 CN
1 LE, 2 NE, 1 CE

Deity Guidelines:
5 domains. If the deity has an alignment other than true neutral, that deity gets the appropriate alignment domains automatically, taking up a domain slot as normal (a lawful good deity automatically gets the law and good domains, leaving 3 domains to pick)
6 subdomains. """(a lawful good deity automatically gets the archon subdomain, leaving 5 subdomains to pick)
A portfolio of 3 things the deity represents
A sacred weapon
A symbol

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Do I need to shrink the pantheons?

Lazaryus wrote:
Do I need to shrink the pantheons?

If you go with a different flavor for each of the pantheons that reflects the regions they are worshipped in, 20 per region should not be too many. My homebrew has two Celtic, two Greco-Roman, and two Norse countries along with four territories shared or disputed by two or more established nations. I use the Celtic pantheon from the 2E Legends and Lore book and the Olympian and Asgardian pantheons from the 3E Deities and Demigods book. All together I have around 50 gods and goddesses.

I'll start it off now with this:

*Name*
Domains: Community, Good, Law, Protection, Scalykind
Subdomains: Archon, Cooperation, Defence, Dragon, Friendship, Loyalty
Pantheon: Aridian Gods

I'll start it off now with this:

Subdomains: Archon, Cooperation, Defence, Dragon, Friendship, Loyalty
Pantheon: Aridian Gods

Updating the Aridian Pantheon board:
0 LG, 2 NG, 1 CG
3 LN, 6 TN, 3 CN
1 LE, 2 NE, 1 CE

I know this is a daunting project, but I could use some help finishing this god(dess), as well as making others.

So you're basically asking us to come up with flavor for these deities?

If the LG dragon god is about alliances and friendship between Aridians and dragons, then the symbol might be something traded in a historical or mythical alliance. A cow or lamb perhaps. The sacred weapon would be something in use at that time or in that legend - perhaps a longspear? The areas of concern look to be something like security, community and dragons.

Is this what you're after?

Dark Archive

Sixty gods is a lot for just three nations. Have you considered having some of the gods cross territories, so that, for instance, one of the LN gods is the same individual in all three countries (although the god may or may not have different names in the different lands, like Zeus or Jupiter).

Just some thoughts:

Number 1:
I would say before you begin, decide which deities are most likely to have their faiths spread by followers (those with very basic core concepts such as love, protection, kindness/friendship, war/conflict, etc.) could easily be found in all three regions due to the nature of their portfolio and willingness of the faithful to spread the word.

Then figure out which ones are going to be truly exclusive to the culture in which they were created (concepts of honor, propriety, hospitality, community/racial/gender-focused, etc.). Ideas that wouldn't translate at all well across cultural boundaries.

These two steps will help pare down the deities needed to satisfy each region.

Number 2:
Will the islander gods follow the historical Hawaiian deities? Will the harsh region have an Egyptian, Semitic, or South East Asian feel?

Both of these areas if they follow certain real-world cultural concepts may have nature spirits instead of true gods (which amounts to druidism).

Kartan:
2 opposing legalistic gods (twins, siblings, lovers, etc.) one of LG & one of LE locked in a constant debate about the nature and application of law. they may work against each other by proxy through their followers.

Yeah, overlap would be fine. Why not have the 5 dragon gods cross between all of the nations?

Looks good, avr. Thanks. I figure that the god I made would be one of the few gods interested in forming permanent settlements in Aridia.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

How isolated are these religions? Before Christianity the main 3 pantheons of Europe were Greco-Roman (Romans pillaged and looted the Greek pantheon and filed off the serial numbers) which covered Greece, Italy and a bit of Britain. There was the Norse pantheon which covered Northern Europe and (depending on era) Britain. Then there were the Celts (Britain, France, much of Northern Europe), plus a few minor religions (one of which evolved and became kind of a big deal). When these cultures intermingled entire pantheons disappeared with only the most popular gods remaining in one form or another.

So how much have these three cultures intermingled? What social pressures occurred when they didn't? How many gods would have been abandoned? How many gods of lightning do you really want in your campaign setting?

If they don't have to be completely original you can easily steal content from elsewhere in this forum. DQ's thread is active at the moment and includes a few, and here there's a thread where people roll up 5 random domains and then try to create a deity from them.

Here's another god:

Iomae (Goddess)
Domains: Good, Healing, Knowledge, Protection, Repose
Subdomains: Agathion, Defence, Medicine, Memory, Redemption, Restoration
Portfolio: Pacifists, Doctors, and Rehabilitation
Sacred Weapon: Unarmed Strike
Pantheon: Kartan Gods, Lageus Gods

Kartan Gods Remaining:
2 LG, 1 NG, 1 CG
3 LN, 3 TN, 2 CN
3 LE, 2 NE, 1 CE

Lageus Gods Remaining:
0 LG, 1 NG, 3 CG
3 LN, 2 TN, 3 CN
1 LE, 2 NE, 3 CE

Writing the first god again and adding some info:

Luztor(God)
Domains: Community, Good, Law, Protection, Scalykind
Subdomains: Archon, Cooperation, Defence, Dragon, Friendship, Loyalty
Portfolio: Security, Community, and Trade
Sacred Weapon: Longspear
Symbol: Two humans giving a cow to a dragon in exchange for spears
Pantheon: Dragon Gods

Adding a symbol for Iomae: A human woman tending to a hobgoblin.

Another god:

Rhoune (goddess)
Domains: Glory, Good, Law, Nobility, Strength
Subdomains: Archon, Honor, Leadership, Legislation, Loyalty, Resolve
Portfolio: Equality, Judges, and Leaders
Sacred Weapon: Longsword
Symbol: A man and a woman sparring
Pantheon: Kartan Gods (will make an LE twin)

Kartan Gods Remaining:
1 LG, 1 NG, 1 CG
3 LN, 3 TN, 2 CN
3 LE, 2 NE, 1 CE

Symbols tend to be simpler than the one you've given Luxtor. e.g. a cross, a crescent, a yin-yang symbol. Maybe just a cow in front of crossed spears?

Anyway, another god, this one of Aridia.

The Maker of Mirages (goddess)
Domains: Chaos, Knowledge, Plant, Trickery, Water
Subdomains: Revelry, Espionage, Growth, Deception, Rivers, Flotsam
Portfolio: Fey, Secrets, Water.
Sacred Weapon: Short bow
Symbol: A pool of water
Pantheon: Aridian Gods

The true name of the Maker of Mirages is unknown. Her worshippers have many for her. She is said to have taught the fey how to hide their oases. Those who depend on fickle streams or other such unreliable water sources pray to her, as do many fey and others who depend on secrets or deception.

Thanks, avr!

Aridian Gods Remaining:
0 LG, 2 NG, 1 CG
3 LN, 6 TN, 2 CN
1 LE, 2 NE, 1 CE

If that works for you, here's another.

Yedade (god)
Domains: Chaos, Evil, Charm, Destruction, War
Subdomains: Demon, Fear, Love, Lust, Catastrophe, Blood
Portfolio: Warriors, Love, Natural Disasters
Sacred Weapon: Greataxe
Symbol: A man holding an axe over his head in both hands.
Pantheon: Lageus Gods

Yedade appears in many tales as a charming hero. He has a dark side, but who doesn't? The tales are decidedly politically incorrect under the current politicians of Lageus which only makes them more popular. Most who offer prayers to him do so as this, a slayer of their enemies, including personifications of natural disasters, and a great lover. The public tales are not the whole story though and a hidden cult worships him in his true form as a fallen hero who feeds on blood, a master of demons.

Looks great!

Lageus Gods Remaining:
0 LG, 1 NG, 3 CG
3 LN, 2 TN, 3 CN
1 LE, 2 NE, 2 CE

Now for Rhoune's evil twin:

Reiko Faux (god)
Domains: Evil, Law, Nobility, Rune, Trickery
Subdomains: Aristocracy, Corruption, Deception, Devil, Legislation, Tyranny
Portfolio: Sexism, Racism, Lawyers
Sacred Weapon: Dagger
Symbol: A man breaking a queen chess piece
Pantheon: Kartan Gods

Kartan Gods Remaining:
1 LG, 1 NG, 1 CG
3 LN, 3 TN, 2 CN
2 LE, 2 NE, 1 CE

I might make a religion that worships both Rhoune and Reiko Faux as the Bar Twins.

Aridia has a lot of true neutral gods, doesn't it? Here's one idea for them.

Janai (goddess)
Domains: Darkness, Healing, Madness, Sun, Weather
Subdomains: Loss, Moon, Resurrection, Insanity, Day, Seasons
Portfolio: Mourning, the Insane, Natural Cycles
Sacred Weapon: Chakram
Symbol: The sun eclipsed.
Pantheon: Aridian gods (possibly others too?)

Long ago Janai's role was purely governing natural cycles, seeing that day followed night, the moon went through its phases and the seasons kept to their usual schedule. Then her partner Rannat died at the hands of daemons. She abandoned her duties to try to resurrect him to no avail.

In the interim many of the natural cycles had been attended to by other gods, but some had gone mad. Janai restored them but was touched by their madness; she largely withdrew from the world in order to avoid harm. Those other gods kept their roles in the natural world that they had taken over from her, and her power and importance was reduced.

Mourners offer her prayers, as do the insane and their carers, and famers will though only as one among several that they must observe.

And another. NE this time.

El-Rannat (god)
Domains: Evil, Animal, Darkness, Earth, Plant
Subdomains: Daemon, Feather, Fur, Night, Decay, Growth
Portfolio: Conquest, Transformation, Hunting
Sacred Weapon: Whip
Symbol: A combination of two different creatures, commonly a tree with a toothy mouth.
Pantheon: Aridian Gods

The daemon who slew the shifting god Rannat stole much of his power. Now called El-Rannat many evil lycanthropes worship him, and ordinary hunters may cast a prayer his way in view of his assumption of Rannat's power. Some ambitious leaders may seek out his lycanthropic priests to gain his blessing before embarking on a scheme of conquest; the priests may well offer aid from the shadows.

I'll use them both and add the second dragon god:

Ainu (goddess)
Domains: Artifice, Knowledge, Magic, Rune, Scalykind
Subdomains: Alchemy, Arcane, Divine, Dragon, Language, Thought
Portfolio: Magic, Crafting, Philosophy
Sacred Weapon: Quarterstaff
Symbol: The face of a dragon, the left half being black and the right being silver
Pantheon: Dragon Gods

Aridian Gods Remaining:
0 LG, 2 NG, 1 CG
3 LN, 4 TN, 2 CN
1 LE, 1 NE, 1 CE

Kartan Gods Remaining:
1 LG, 1 NG, 1 CG
3 LN, 2 TN, 2 CN
2 LE, 2 NE, 1 CE

Lageus Gods Remaining:
0 LG, 1 NG, 3 CG
3 LN, 1 TN, 3 CN
1 LE, 2 NE, 2 CE

I'll make a god of marauders for you!

EDIT: What's appropriate for a cult of CE murderers?

Found the page, so here goes nothing!

Domains: Chaos, Death, Evil, Madness, Scalykind
Subdomains: Demon, Dragon, Fear, Murder, Nightmare, Venom
Sacred Weapon: Bastard Sword
Pantheon: Dragon Gods

You going to finish that, Zetheroth?

Taram (god)
Domains: Law, Community, Rune, Strength, Trickery
Subdomains: Inevitable, Loyalty, Cooperation, Wards, Self-Realization, Thievery
Portfolio: Service, Retrieving the stolen, Bounty Hunters
Sacred Weapon: Unarmed Strike
Symbol: A closed, ornate door
Pantheon: Aridian Gods

Among those Ainu took into her service was Taram. He was tasked with pursuing many that stole her crafts to return them. Somewhere along the way he found himself slipping into the palaces of gods to do so; soon after he was recognised as a demigod, though he remained Ainu's loyal servant.

There'll be a CG dragon god, right?

Zybeth (goddess)
Domains: Chaos, Good, Glory, Knowledge, Scalykind
Subdomains: Azata, Heroism, Legend, Education, Memory, Dragon
Portfolio: History, Legends, Teachers
Sacred Weapon: Longsword
Symbol: A woman standing against an army
Pantheon: Dragon Gods

Zybeth's joy is in tales of heroes, glory and wonder. She and her followers have been known to try to make heroes; being marked by Zybeth is not always a good thing as heroes must succeed against the odds.

Maseth (god)
Domains: Chaos, Good, Knowledge, Liberation, Luck
Subdomains: Entropy, Redemption, Thought, Freedom, Curse, Fate
Portfolio: Freedom, Fate, Gambling
Sacred Weapon: Sap
Symbol: Fanned cards
Pantheon: Lageus Gods

Maseth teaches freedom from one's past and from history in general. Fate is real but can be upset with the right gamble. Gamblers love him. When his followers meet Zybeth's, conflict often erupts; despite similar alignments their philosophies are not compatible.

My tablet's batteries were running low, so I just got the mechanical stuff on here the first go-around. Now to finish it up!

Kashet (god)
Domains: Chaos, Death, Evil, Madness, Scalykind
Subdomains: Demon, Dragon, Fear, Murder, Nightmare, Venom
Portfolio: Murderers, Assassins, Marauders
Sacred Weapon: Bastard Sword
Symbol: A sword and a vial of poison resting in a pool of blood
Pantheon: Dragon Gods

I'll add them, thanks!

Aridian Gods Remaining:
0 LG, 2 NG, 0 CG
2 LN, 4 TN, 2 CN
1 LE, 1 NE, 0 CE

Kartan Gods Remaining:
1 LG, 1 NG, 0 CG
3 LN, 2 TN, 2 CN
2 LE, 2 NE, 0 CE

Lageus Gods Remaining:
0 LG, 1 NG, 1 CG
3 LN, 1 TN, 3 CN
1 LE, 2 NE, 1 CE

Kimaba (goddess)
Domains: Good, Animal, Artifice, Fire, Healing
Subdomains: Agathion, Insect, Construct, Industry, Smoke, Medicine
Portfolio: Bees & Beekeeping, Hard Work, Caring
Sacred Weapon: Spear
Symbol: A bee on a flower
Pantheon: Lageus Gods

Kimaba appears as an elderly woman, but she is one of the newest gods. As a mortal druid she found some fragment of a dead god and bound herself to it. The obsession with bees dates to that time.

Her followers mostly concern themselves with doing good in small ways and generally being good, hard-working people, but they can sometimes be stirred to anger. When this happens wise Lageans get well out of their way until the anger passes.

Tyllen (goddess)
Domains: Law, Air, Earth, Glory, Nobility
Subdomains: Judgement, Lightning, Wind, Metal, Honor, Aristocracy
Portfolio: Rulers & Noble Warriors, Judges, Traditional Smiths
Sacred Weapon: Katana
Symbol: A horse running on the wind
Pantheon: Lageus Gods

The patron of the nobility above all, Tyllen backs tradition over any new innovation. Clerics of hers seen to be trying something new may be recalled to study her holy books under supervision. The Order is losing power politically but is not down and out yet.

Yemon (collective god)
Domains: Law, Artifice, Community, Travel, War
Subdomains: Legislation, Sovereignty, Toil, Cooperation, Trade, Tactics
Portfolio: Professional Military, Bureaucracy, Collective Strength
Sacred Weapon: Bardiche
Symbol: Three soldiers standing in a line
Pantheon: Lageus Gods

Yemon has many faces, male and female, and is thought to have originally been a group rather than an individual. Certainly Yemonite lessons favor loss of individuality to promote a collective strength. Their Great House, the name for their organisation, is very powerful in Lageus and would be even more so if not for infighting - which suggests that individuality is not dead even within the most faithful of Yemon.

I'd meant to ask, is there anything you'd rather I did differently? Is the background text useful or a waste of time? Am I missing the flavour that you'd like for these pantheons?

No. I did get confused by your inclusion of deity backgrounds, but it's a nice touch (did it get introduced in Inner Sea Gods or something? I only have the CRB for gods). I was actually thinking about going back and adding backgrounds for the gods I did. I was originally envisioning Aridia to be split between three groups: psychopaths who view the desert as stomping grounds to carry out all their destructive desires, those who are just trying to survive, and those who want to cultivate and create safe haven in the land (murderhoboville); Lageus as a tourist hotspot with some pirates, both of the sea and of the sky, sprinkled in,
and plenty of boats and airships (adventures of the sky and sea); and Kartan as a legalistic, social maze with some intrigue (house of double-talk).

Some sort of flavour text predates PF by 30-odd years. I'd bet that Jacobs and Buhlman had more on those CRB gods than they put in there at the time.

Airships & pirates in Lageus, huh?

Bareus (god)
Domains: Chaos, Air, Travel, Void, Weather
Subdomains: Cloud, Wind, Exploration, Trade, Stars, Monsoon
Portfolio: Shipping, The Edge of the Unknown, Winds
Sacred Weapon: Boarding Axe
Symbol: A stylised sail full of wind.
Pantheon: Lageus Gods

The son of Tyllen long ago, Bareus rebelled against his mother and headed off to the edge of civilization as it was then to escape her. By the time he eventually ascended to full godhood he had established a cult out there among the people of the far islands.

The cult was never popular with those who lived in Lageus proper, as Tyllen's Order and others discouraged it firmly. The cult in turn felt it had no responsibility to be kind to its enemies and engaged in piracy as well as trade. They currently disavow their pirates, but offer no cooperation to Lageus to suppress them.

Got it!

I am an excellent deity to add to any setting. 8D Any at all.

Tarennan (god)
Domains: Law, Nobility, Rune, Travel, Water
Subdomains: Legislation, Aristocracy, Language, Trade, Rivers, Oceans
Portfolio: Trade, Merchants, Fishermen
Sacred Weapon: Hanbo
Symbol: A fish leaping out of the water
Pantheon: Kartan Gods, Lageus Gods

While the Tarist Church is very much oriented to the wealthiest merchants, the teachings of Tarennan were originally aimed at more than that when it started in Kartan. It retains many of those followers, mostly with promises that they too could arise to great wealth.

Maraida (goddess)
Domains: Animal, Community, Plant, Protection, Strength
Subdomains: Fur, Home, Growth, Thorns, Defence, Resolve
Portfolio: Defence of the Home, Farmers, Steadfastness
Sacred Weapon: Greatclub
Symbol: A hedge of thorny shrubs
Pantheon: Aridian Gods

Maraida's followers, the Marai, are renowned for their stubbornness and for their parochial viewpoints. Their inability to organise collective defence much of the time means that raids often overwhelm individual homesteads. Despite this the Marai keep coming back to rebuild and aren't losing ground to the raiders. Much.

BTW, the most recent update of the number of gods to make has gone backwards - two LN deities have been added to Lageus. If that's an error rather than intentional you probably want to fix it.

Sharta (god)
Domains: Evil, Earth, Glory, Luck, Trickery
Subdomains: Corruption, Caves, Hubris, Curse, Greed, Thievery
Portfolio: Mining, the Corruption of Wealth, Jealousy
Sacred Weapon: Heavy Pick
Symbol: A brilliant-cut diamond
Pantheon: Kartan Gods

Miners offer prayers to Sharta and that's the public face of the cult. It's an open secret that you can buy curses from the cult though, and their involvement with thieves and bribery is a persistent rumour. Not one that many would follow up however, those who do tend to find the legal system persecuting them.

I have an document tracking the totals that I copy-paste from. I must not have updated it last time.

One suggestion: You don't necessarily have to fill every alignment "niche" in every pantheon. Whatever theme or origin unites a pantheon is likely to have some sort of bias that skews the alignment distribution. "Villain" gods may be well-integrated into a pantheon (as in the Celestial Bureaucracy, where even demons are just doing their appointed jobs), or they may be outsiders who are not so much part of a pantheon as they are its enemies.

For example, in my current homebrew campaign, the ancient imperial human pantheon is largely lawful in bent, with the chief gods LN, one each of LG and LE, and a few minor N gods. Their archenemies are the Elder Titans, who are mostly CN to CE (with one CG rebel), and are worshiped by many of the human barbarian tribes that harass the empire's borders. Due to their shared history, you could consider the two groups of gods to be a single pantheon--but no priest on either side would ever utter such blasphemy!

I'll start the last dragon god, but I won't count it until it's done:

*Name*(goddess)
Domains:Evil, Knowledge, Law, Scalykind, Trickery
Subdomains: Devil, Dragon, Rune, Innuendo, *subdomain*, *subdomain*
Portfolio: Loopholes, Oversight, Coded Language
Sacred Weapon: Dagger
Pantheon: Dragon Gods

Here is the fixed count, including the gods from Wednesday:

Aridian Gods Remaining:
0 LG, 2 NG, 0 CG
2 LN, 3 TN, 2 CN
1 LE, 1 NE, 0 CE

Kartan Gods Remaining:
1 LG, 1 NG, 0 CG
2 LN, 2 TN, 2 CN
2 LE, 1 NE, 0 CE

Lageus Gods Remaining:
0 LG, 1 NG, 1 CG
0 LN, 1 TN, 2 CN
1 LE, 2 NE, 1 CE

Kartan's where the campaign starts, I should probably focus there rather than wherever inspiration strikes.

Sevran (goddess)
Domains: Law, Knowledge, Nobility, Protection, War
Subdomains: Archon, Memory, Fortifications, Purity, Duels, Tactics
Portfolio: Formal Music & Dance, Etiquette, Military Leaders
Sacred Weapon: Rapier
Symbol: A couple in a formal dance pose
Pantheon: Kartan Gods

Devero (god)
Domains: Chaos, Charm, Knowledge, Liberation, Trickery
Subdomains: Azata, Whimsy, Love, Thought, Freedom, Deception
Portfolio: Informal Performance, Spontaneity, Free Love
Sacred Weapon: Rapier
Symbol: A wildly dancing couple
Pantheon: Kartan Gods

Sevran and Devero are twins. At least according to the official theology, some older sources suggest they're married instead. Their church is one in organisation, but almost all the clergy gain their power from one or the other god only (in rules, you'd need to be a cleric with the separatist archetype effectively, though I'd let the character get the free sacred weapon proficiency which the separatist usually loses). There are many disputes both major and minor within the Twinned Church, which provides great entertainment for outsiders but which has effectively killed the role of the church (as opposed to some of the clergy privately) in providing education. Plots and students can mix poorly.

Alright!

Aridian Gods Remaining:

Lageus Gods Remaining:

Here's some flavor for the gods I've done so far:

Iomae: her followers are typically quiet, courteous individuals who are taught to show their goddess's grace through acts of kindness instead of praising her glory. To enter the ranks of her clerics, one is required to swear the Hippocratic Oath, as well as oaths of pacifism and forgiveness.

Luztor: he forbids his followers from taking positions in politics, and teaches them to avoid getting wrapped up in politics, to maintain a cashe of weaponry, and to guard lands that are ready for settling or are already settled by good folk. His followers usually take up jobs as guards, blacksmiths, and recordkeepers for armories, clerics included.

Rhoune: a staunch supporter of the rights of women and non-human races, she has the largest following in Kartan, a lot of them being women. While her followers don't set out to squash the followers of Reiko Faux, they do foil their underhanded, malicious schemes. Her followers are often considerate and open-minded individuals, and the women are as tough and capable, if not more so, than men.

Reiko Faux: taking traditional biases to extremes, he only allows native-decendant human men into his following. Having one of the smallest followings in Kartan, his followers must make concessions to other gods, even when one of his followers is in power.

Ainu: while she is prayed to by almost everyone, she has few followers, almost all of them spellcasters. Her followers obsess over all knowledge and secrets, magical, technological, and mundane alike.

Otheno (god)
Domains: Good, Darkness, Protection, Repose, Rune
Subdomains: Night, Solitude, Ancestors, Psychopomp, Souls, Wards
Portfolio: Protection of the Dead, Peace, Dreams.
Sacred Weapon: Heavy mace
Symbol: A single tall candle burning.
Pantheon: Kartan Gods

The Protectors of Otheno guard against undead and other dangers of the night. Mostly in this modern day that means living over the crypts or next to graveyards and coming out to check elsewhere when paid to do so, but they do still make symbolic rounds of the streets once a week. The more dedicated or ambitious may do more.

Dream interpretation and assistance communing with your ancestors are some other duties of the Protectors. This tends to attract people who have needed those services to join the priesthood. Many Protectors have some tragedy in their past.

Jenner Twiceborn (goddess)
Domains: Evil, Death, Earth, Magic, Void
Subdomains: Daemon, Murder, Undead, Petrification, Divine, Isolation
Portfolio: Undeath, Ancient Lore, Revenge
Sacred Weapon: Unarmed Strike
Symbol: A baby with glowing eyes
Pantheon: Kartan Gods

Jenner was said in lore to have died in childhood and risen again to become a goddess. How old she was and how she died and rose depends on the story but none represent her as having reached puberty. She is also known as the Child Goddess.

The Risen People's veneer of respectability was penetrated in the past and they're now a secret cult with no public face. The Risen create undead to protect themselves, to allow their members to have a visible life after death, in a few cases for research, but most commonly of all for revenge on the society that outlawed them. They are not nice people.

I might need help finishing the last dragon god. Anyways, here's the latest count:

Aridian Gods Remaining:
0 LG, 2 NG, 0 CG
2 LN, 3 TN, 2 CN
1 LE, 1 NE, 0 CE

Kartan Gods Remaining:
1 LG, 0 NG, 0 CG
1 LN, 2 TN, 1 CN
2 LE, 0 NE, 0 CE

Lageus Gods Remaining:
0 LG, 1 NG, 1 CG
0 LN, 1 TN, 2 CN
1 LE, 2 NE, 1 CE

Flavor text sounds awesome! Here I'll give it a go:

Kashet: The younger brother of *LE dragon goddess*, his followers are often disconnected from the world, taught that life is just a game and that their actions have no effect on reality, so they just do what they deem to be "fun".

My atttempt at filling the gaps on that dragon god. Rune is a domain rather than a subdomain of anything so I removed it. If you're giving each god 5 domains exactly you'll need to drop one to give her it as a domain.

Gretzal (goddess)
Domains: Evil, Knowledge, Law, Scalykind, Trickery
Subdomains: Deception, Devil, Dragon, Espionage, Innuendo, Tyranny
Portfolio: Loopholes, Oversight, Coded Language
Sacred Weapon: Dagger
Symbol: A clay tablet scored by a large claw.
Pantheon: Dragon Gods

Gretzal's followers respect subtlety and cunning more than brute strength. The story runs that she deals with devils because no others can offer her a challenge in the ways of deception, hidden traps of language and double-dealing.

Few people will devote themselves entirely to Gretzal due to the specificity of her portfolio, but many will have cause to offer her prayers at some time: the farmer bringing his harvest to the miller, a new recruit signing up, a merchant sweating over her new trade contract. Anyone in an important situation where they might be outmatched in their skills with language and contracts, in other words.

Kaetha (god)
Domains: Chaos, Destruction, Fire, Plant, Weather
Subdomains: Entropy, Catastrophe, Rage, Ash, Growth, Seasons
Portfolio: Disasters, Regrowth, Rebuilding
Sacred Weapon: Scythe
Symbol: The phoenix rising from its ashes
Pantheon: Kartan Gods

All things come to an end. New things require a space to grow. Uncontroversial on the face of it, but revolutionaries, impatient inheritors and others can turn the doctrines of Kaetha to their ends, and the disorganised Kaethan Church can hardly resist them. Wealth or skilled oratory can find useful tools within that Church.

The core of Kaetha's worshippers are farmers, though many others who deal with the resources of forest and field may respect and sometimes worship him also. In the current day the Kaethan mob is most feared, but in older times individual Kaethan beserkers could be even more dangerous, and these may still be found sometimes.

Aditun (goddess)
Domains: Animal, Community, Knowledge, Magic, Sun
Subdomains: Feather, Education, Aeon, Memory, Light, Revelation
Portfolio: Learning, History, Prophecy
Sacred Weapon: Long bow
Symbol: An eagle in front of the sun.
Pantheon: Kartan Gods

A small cult, mostly made of historians and teachers worships Aditun. Some others with a personal attachment to her portfolio and a few crazed mystics living as hermits round those out - there is no mass movement attached to her worship. This hasn't always been the case, but it has been a long time since any important prophecy made by her cult has been known to come true, and the wider respect has drifted away. Old temples to Aditun can be found converted to other uses, or fallen to ruin in many places.

Veronus (god)
Domains: Evil, Law, Travel, Strength, War
Subdomains: Fear, Kyton, Slavery, Trade, Fist, Blood
Portfolio: Martial Dominance, Slavers, Raiders
Sacred Weapon: Whip
Symbol: A seated man with another kneeling before him.
Pantheon: Kartan Gods

The Fists of Veronus have turned their attentions outside Kartan for the most part, and while their cult recruits there it is no longer seeking slaves in the land of Kartan itself. That can mean trade as often or more than raiding, which may be a surprise to those new to the cult. They even have traditions and laws for slaves to buy or fight their way out - but make no mistake, being a slave to the Fists is no good thing. Abuse may be controlled but it certainly exists.

1 each LG, LN, TN remaining for Kartan now I think.
