This is a Star Wars Saga Edition campaign set during the time immediately following the conclusion of the Clone Wars.

1 to 50 of 81 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

I am interested in running a Star Wars Saga Edition series.
This posting is an interest check.

The series will start AT the end of the Clone Wars.
Chancellor Palpatine has just announced the end of the war, the end of the Separatists threat, and the failure of the Jedi coup.

=============================
The news seems a little surreal. You shake your head as you sip your caf and watch the newsreel replay on the Holonet. It seems that just a week ago the chancellor was talking about impending doom. The Separatists had attacked Coruscant directly. It seemed that there was no stopping the Separatist juggernaut. Then as fast as a Kybuck changes direction, the whole affair was over.

You look out the cafe window at the jumble of battle droids that still lay in the streets. It was weird the way they just shut down; as if by a switch.

==============================

My idea is to run the session during the chaotic period while the Empire is just forming. Vader is not yet fully functioning in his new body. Most people are hopeful that the end of the war will bring better times.

Although there are disbelievers, many people assume that the haughty Jedi did try to take over and they got what they deserved.

The location will range across the galaxy, but will start in the Outer Rim.

I am looking for 4 - 6 characters willing to play in this arena.

Saga Edition has a very similar feel to 3.5.

Scarab Sages

very much dotting for interest

Oooh. I'm definitely interested. Would you consider an Astromech droid character?

Color me intrigued as well. Any word on character creation? What's allowed, what isn't, point-buy, so on?

Always interested in a new Star Wars campaign!

Interested to hear more at the very least.

I am very interested as well, I will more than likely be building a sniper of some kind.

Interested. What direction do you see this going in? Would a doctor and scientist be viable? Any exploration ala Star Trek/Gate expected or are we more likely to become proto-rebels fighting the new government and old CIS holdouts alike? I am thinking Gungan (yes, really) either way.

Liberty's Edge

I'd like to hear more details as well. There are tons of unplayed concepts I could throw in once we have some direction.

Awesome! I think there's enough interest to change this to a recruiting thread.

As mentioned the setting is immediately after the end of the Clone Wars.

@Philo: Astromech is absolutely welcome.

@Alistus: Sniper is fine. You should consider the origin. Is your sniper a clone or CIS soldier or other.

@Mr.Sandman: A doctor or scientist would be great and very useful.
Gungan could be fun. I am open to the group moving towards a proto-rebellion, but they will not begin that way. The Empire has not shown it's colors yet - at least not to the masses.

The campaign will start out on a "beggar's moon" which is run by n'er-do-wells. On the surface they maintained their neutrality during the Clone Wars while in actuality they worked both sides.

Some of the impending threats:
Over the next several years - the Empire will consolidate it's power.
Force users will have some freedom in the beginning, but will become hunted.
Key criminal / Neutral elements include Black Sun, the Hutts & Blazing Chain among others.

The story arcs I have drawn up will include use for all character classes.
Combat will be normal, a group consisting entirely of demolitions experts will not fair well.

I will post a more developed campaign background soon.
=================================

Character information:

Acceptable materials: All saga edition books - except: Legacy Era, Rebellion, and Force Unleashed. If there are specific species in one of those books, ping me and I'll consider it. NO Vong or quasi Vong.

If you want to be Jedi, how did you escape Order 66? What are your thoughts on Kenobi's message to send the Jedi into hiding?

Characters:
20 point buy

Level: 1

Starting credits - average for your class

Starting equipment - nothing exotic, unless noted as part of the character generation.

Background: Where was your character last week - during the Clone Wars?

Just to confirm that I'm going to build the character right, we're using 20 point-buy with the method described in the core book? The normal amount is 25, and I don't have a problem playing in a slightly lower-powered game, but I just want to make sure that's correct.

Off the top of my head, I'm thinking I'll be playing an intelligent type, though whether more combat or skill-focused, I'm not sure yet.

Liberty's Edge

I'd love to play an ace pilot sort, with a sort of "do the crazy thing just to say you did it" vibe. Will there be much opportunity for flying/driving?

Character information:

Acceptable materials: All saga edition books - except: The Galaxy of Intrigue book has the race Umbaran, would like to play that race.

If you want to be Jedi, how did you escape Order 66? What are your thoughts on Kenobi's message to send the Jedi into hiding? I have played Scoundrels and Soldiers in the past, I would like to be a Jedi this time around. However, I want Gotal to be a Jedi who spurned the Jedi Order once the War began. He saw the Jedi involvement in the War as abhorrent and refused participation. He is horrified at what happened and is suspicious of the "Empire's" explanation for what took place. As a Jedi not part of the Order, he would not have been "in the line of fire" when Order 66 took place. Having pulled away, he would not be aware of Kenobi's message.

Characters:
20 point buy
Strength 8, Dexterity 15, Constitution 10, Intelligence 12, Wisdom 16, Charisma 14

Level: 1
Hit Points 30
Base Attack +1
Melee Attack +0
Damage 2d8
Ranged Attack +3
Damage Bonus +0
Reflex Defense +14
Fortitude Defense +12
Will Defense +15

Force Points 5

Skills:
Acrobatics +2
Endurance +0
(Trained) Initiative +7
Jump +0
Knowledge
Mechanics --
(Trained) Perception +8
Pilot --
(Trained) Use Force +7

Feats: Force Sensitivity, Weapons Proficiency Lightsaber & Simple Weapons, Force Training

Talent - Adept Negotiator

Force Powers: Force Disarm, Force Slam, Mind Trick, Move Object

Racial Abilities - Darkvision, Stealthy (reroll any failed Stealth roll but must keep second result)

Language - Basic & Umbarese

Starting credits - 600 (None spent)

Starting equipment - Lightsaber (Blue Colored Blade)

Background: Where was your character last week - during the Clone Wars?
Alderaan negotiating a Corporate contract for a development company seeking to assist people who were ravaged by the Clone Wars.

@Loup Blanc: Thank you for asking. I went from memory instead of pulling out the book. It is a 25 pt buy instead of 20.

@Orannis: A crack pilot would be good. There will be a number of "chase scenes" and "dog fights"

@ Storyteller Shadow: Thank you for the character info. Gotal is your character's name and not the species - correct? Umbaran is ok. Splinter Jedi is ok too. If unaffiliated with the Jedi Order; is Gotal aligned with another organization or going where the Force leads?

I have a concept forming here for a jedi padawan who was sent away from Coruscant on a 'mission' just before the betrayal, only to feel her master's life end shortly before the holonet broadcasts the end of the war, and she's now trying to make a discreet living as a starship mechanic on this beggar's moon.

She's a tinkerer who's quite gifted with the force, and she'll be aiming to build stuff. She'll also be trying her best to develop applications of force usage while doing her best to remain hidden from the empire. Should be a fun and challenging little balancing act.

EDIT: wait, 25 pt build? Ok, that relaxes some constraints. I'll adjust and update the sheet shortly.

Yes Gotal is the character name should have been more clear about that.

Where the force leads. He believes Jedi should use force only when absolutely necessary. Whereas the Jedi becoming generals embroiled the order as proactive combatants. The Sith rising may be reason for the entire order to go to war but Gotal saw no evidence of Sith, just galactic disagreements. Instead he turned his efforts to assisting those effected by the war.

I would be very interested in playing. I was thinking of maybe a miraluka jedi or even a vurk jedi like Coleman Trebor?

or perhaps a force sensitive military guy who was not picked up by the Jedi. Would it be possible to be trained as a jedi later on in the campaign if the one does not start off as one?

Question/clarification: you said nothing from legacy era, rebellion or force unleashed, but the rest of that statement sounds like a race restriction. Do you mean you don't want us to choose one of those races, or do you want us to stay out of those books completely, i.e. feats, gear, talents, etc?

Dotting for interest myself. May stat out an Astromech for the group (R2 or R5 series likely). If you'll allow droids that is.

Donavaan Taar CL 1

Donavaan comes from a rich family who sent him to Corusant when he was younger to get military training. He is very supportive of the Clone Wars.He was born Force Sensitive and had the Jedi not been entangled in the Clone Wars and other political things he might have been discovered. His family's wealth is vast and they are hoping that he will become an officer in the Republic. Had the Empire not begun its rise who knows what would have happeend. Perhaps destiny has other plans for Donavaan Taar.

My internet is giving me problems...grr
When are you looking to start and make a determination as to who will be playing?

Full details of backstory pending, crunch in profile--here's my submission.

where was I last week, during the clone wars?:

I was on a freighter to the Beggar's moon. My master told me to leave coruscant. He said my test as padawan would have to wait because I was needed elsewhere. I knew something was wrong; I wanted to question him further, but I could feel the Force pushing us apart. He even yelled at me for prying further...he's never yelled at me before. For the first time in my life, I saw fear in his eyes; I'm still unsure whether he was afraid of what was to come, or afraid of seeing me involved in it. No matter the reason, he was completely insistent on getting me on that freighter and out of the system.

how did you escape order 66? How do you feel about Kenobi's message to send the Jedi into hiding?:

I didn't ask where Master was sending me; by the time he'd ushered me into the freighter, he'd stopped answering anything I was asking. The captain didn't ask any questions either. I'd never heard of this 'beggar's moon' they mentioned, but clearly this was a trip Master didn't want anyone to know about.

I'm no genius, but when the Holonet broadcast 'emperor' Palpatine's message of reformation and the end of the war, even I could tell something didn't add up. Once I tapped into the private frequency and saw Master Kenobi's message, some things started to make sense...while some things made no sense at all...

Fine. I'll keep my head down and see how this plays out for now...but I want answers, and I want to complete my training.

Donavaan was on leave on Coruscant taking in some needed R and R.

Currently thinking about a human Force sensitive scout that will be multiclassing into Jedi as soon as he reaches 2nd level (well, probably anyway; I may stall his taking Jedi levels depending on the campaign's circumstances and level progression rate). Or at least that is the idea. May I ask if or how that would work?

Hey Castor nice to see you, have not seen you in a thread since GM Kalderaan's SW campaign ended a few years back. I played Colvin Dashwind.

How does my entry look?

@ Moroka Janis: The restrictions about the named books were primarily for tech and some races - e.g. Toff & Nagai. Unleashed, primarily the force powers.
Thanks for the submission. Interesting background.

@ Elarwien Lantherion: You will have the opportunity to pick up force training later in the campaign. Thank you for the submission. I think character will fit in nicely.

About the questions of force training... obviously formal Jedi training ended. That said, there are many other force traditions. You will have the ability to train with those traditions to some measure. It seems that there are quite a few force sensitive characters thus far. There is some potential for character cross pollination - however, as I mentioned earlier - force powers are going to bring more and more danger.

RECRUITMENT NOTE
The turnout has been significantly better than I expected.
I will accept applications until Wednesday (4/22).

The plan will be to start posting no later than Friday.

It might be interesting to go Force Adept rather than Jedi.

Would be able to take some of the talents in Jedi Training Manual, I am thinking of maybe making a telepathic character.

I'm open to new directions and spontaneous character developments, but the little powergamer in me is kind of wanting to go force adept for a couple particular talents, as a sort of rules test, just to see if I can make a character work...

NO! BAD! Too much planning ahead! Wait for story!

Gotta keep that little powergamer in line sometimes, yeah?

Liberty's Edge

Argggghhhh... I can't find my dang Saga Edition book anywhere! >:(

Is there an SRD anywhere on the web? Goolge search yielded nothing useful, which has me worried...

looks interesting.

I sometimes Google Star Wars Saga Force Powers and have been able to find them there. You can also look on Saga Forge and it will help you with character sheets.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Here's my character idea.

Jak Kato:

Name Jak Kato
Human Scoundrel

str 9
dex 16
con 12
int 12
wis 10
cha 12

HP 18 + CON

skills: acrobatics, deception, gather information, persuasion, pilot, stealth

class feats: Point Blank Shot, Weapon Proficiency (pistols), Weapon Proficiency (simple weapons)

chosen feats: precise shot, far shot

talent: sneak attack (1d6)

I'm thinking of a cross between Crichton and Peter Quill, personality wise. Working on back story now.

Starting credits are normally rolled. I don't see a place with average starting wealth. But that's easy enough to figure out:

average 3d4 = 3 * 2.5 = 7.5

Jedi = 3d4 * 100 credits = 7.5 * 100 credits = 750 credits
Noble = 3d4 * 400 credits = 7.5 * 400 credits = 3,000 credits
Scoundrel = 3d4 * 250 credits = 7.5 * 250 credits = 1,875 credits
Scout = 3d4 * 250 credits = 7.5 * 250 credits = 1,875 credits
Soldier = 3d4 * 250 credits = 7.5 * 250 credits = 1,875 credits

Since I took the wealth talent would that 5k credits be in addition to the starting wealth?

Elrawien Lantherion wrote:

Yep.

@Orannis: I haven't ever found a SRD. However, I did find a copy of the core rulebook as a pdf that you could look through - on Scribd I think.

@ wicked_raygun: Thanks for the character. I like the concept - should be fun. Thanks for taking the time to post the credits as well.

Characters to this point:

Gotal; Umbaran Jedi
Donovaan Taar; Human Noble (Force sensitive)
Moroka Janis: Human Jedi Padawan (mechanic)
Jak Kato: Human Scoundrel

We have a few dots for interest but so far - no droids.

Exciting times ahead.

I've been a little busy, and I'm rusty on the Saga system. (I played more of the previous d20 edition and the little changes are the worst) How much longer do I have to apply?

In a nutshell - R3-QB has begun to develop quirks. The Empire routinely wipes droids to ensure predictable performance. Cubie had one wipe fail and his personality survived. Being a data being, he's been falsifying records to prevent further mindwipes and to requisition parts. He's also built a fake restraining bolt that simply signals him.

In a bureaucrazy, data is everything. However, he's starting to get suspicious that they are on to him and he's looking to transfer off of the star destroyer that he was assigned to. The first step was to requisition a solid dome to appear to be an R2 unit.

Hey, hello to you too! Yeah, I remember. It was a fun game with fun characters. Good to see you. :-)

Here is the crunch for my submission, a Force-sensitive scout in his mid to late twenties, who will be taking Jedi levels sooner or later (either at 2nd or 4th level), or that is the idea anyway.

Corven was a close friend of a Jedi by the name of Jonas Morrow, who, after recognizing the former's Force potential, eventually spoke to him of the theory and lore of both the Force and the Jedi Order. Additionally, after much insistence on Corven's part, Jonas also relented and trained him in the fundamentals of the Jedi's more practical skills, such as the basics of wielding a lightsaber and some of the more rudimentary -for lack of a better term- Force powers. The Jedi Knight's idea behind teaching his friend was to present him to the Order and ask to train him formally and officially despite his age. Unfortunately, that never came to pass as the Clone Wars brought forth other priorities and Jonas left to lend his aid in the war. Corven did miss his friend and especially the training, but nevertheless thought little else of it, trusting in his friend's skills and powers to see him through.

Then, something changed. For the last couple of weeks, Corven would feel an increasing sense of something about to happen, of something being not quite right, but he could not put his finger on it, so to speak. He tried to ignore it, attributing it to the usual anxiousness when being on the move, for Corven never stayed in one place for too long, always eager to see new planets and new people and experience new things, a trait he shared with Jonas. But last week, as Corven was on his way to a beggar's moon, where he planned to only stay a brief time in order to gain some credits and decide on his next destination, that feeling seemed to become even more difficult to ignore. Finally, almost as soon as the ship landed, a sadness and pain and then briefly anger almost overwhelmed him, the sensation that washed over him almost bringing him to his knees. He knew then something terrible had happened, his Jedi friend among those it had happened to. It was vague and it vanished almost as abruptly as it had come, taking with it the strange feelings of the past few days, as if they were never truly his to begin with and as if what they were leading to had finally happened. Corven was not sure what to make of it, but soon enough he found out more. All thanks to the announcement broadcast on almost every screen, the announcement coming from the Senate on Coruscant.

The idea is to have the foundations laid for multiclassing into Jedi, thus making the explanation of how a scout could become a Jedi when formal training is no longer available a bit easier (i.e. Corven has already been taught about the Force and the Jedi in both theory and practice, thus already having a basis to build on, even if it is an informal one; determination, focus and experience gained through practice could perhaps explain his further development). As for a lightsaber, well, that involves the second of my two questions that follow...

1) Is Destiny to be used?

2) Jedi start with a lightsaber given to them by their Master, otherwise they have to wait until they have a total of 7 heroic levels in order to attempt to build their own. When multiclassing into Jedi, this might provide a wee bit of a problem to rationalize when the circumstances are as they are given this particular time frame. I was wondering, could perhaps Jonas, Corven's friend and a dual-wielding Jedi, have left one of his two lightsabers behind, the reason a combination of it being a token that he would return and a feeling, possibly brought on by the Force, that perhaps he should do so, that Corven might need it? The weapon would be disassembled into its component parts and kept in Corven's utility belt, who would on occasion assemble it only to practice with it in private, trying to learn how to wield it, before disassembling it again each time. Once the 1st level of Jedi is gained and with it the Weapon Proficiency (Lightsabers) feat, it would mean that he has finally become accustomed to using it, at which point he would assemble it for good and keep it in a concealed wrist holster. Thoughts?

750 credits? Huh. I keep forgetting that the average of an even numbered die set is a fraction...time to go spend a couple more credits...

I switched around a couple of Jak's skills to better reflect his background. I dropped acrobatics and persuasion for knowledge tactics and mechanics. I also decided to take some inspiration from Firefly.

Jak Kato:

Plenty of folks want to believe that the Separatist Army was completely mechanized, and that the Trade Federation and Banking Clans operated unilaterally. But the cold hard truth was that many systems had chafed under Republic rule long before the invasion of Naboo. And without this disgruntled constituency, the Separatist Army would have languished on Geonosis and would have been related to history as nothing more than a failed insurrection.

Jak Kato joined the resistance as a teenager. He wanted to prove that the Systems could rule themselves once freed from the tyrannical yoke of the Galactic Republic. In the army, he specialized in gathering intelligence and sabotage. Later, he established himself as a capable pilot and even flew in the disastrous Battle of Coruscant.

After the retreat, Jak's fleet was ordered to regroup and commenced repairs. But only a few weeks later, the War was over. Some new lapdog of Palpatine's had coldly executed the heads of the Trade Federation and Banking Clans without so much as a trial. And without financial backing, the Separatist fleet was left broken and unable to heal itself.

Now, bitter and angry over the death of dream of independence, Jak wants nothing more than to fly as fast and far from this new Empire as he can. He takes odd jobs here and there, with the hopes if buying hiso own ship someday, with his own crew.

Goal: Find a ship. Find a job. Keep flying.

Destiny: Join the Rebellion. Retire to Alderaan.

Thoughts on Jedi: "You mean those crazy cultists? "

This is looking like it will be a great campaign with great characters.

DM, assuming Gotal is picked, as a Jedi with formal training even though low level, would I be able to train the force sensitive characters?

What are we doing for transportation? Will we start off with a ship or are we stranded?

I found this nice little reference:
