Starfinder-esque Books

General Discussion

Hey all, wasn't sure if this was best in General Discussion or Advice so I apologize if I got it wrong.

I am totally hyped up on Starfinder currently, but I don't get much time to play and I don't have a play group at the moment.

To get a kind of fix, I am hoping to listen to a good sci fi book. A lot of sci fi books lean heavily towards gritty story with grim worlds. I am looking for books that have more in common with Starfinder.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks all!

tldr; I want some good sci fi fantasy novels that feel like Starfinder, all recommendations welcome.

The Hyperion Cantos by Dan Simmons is a really good one

I don't know if it counts as strictly science-fantasy, but I think Tuf Voyaging is worth a read.

I read it when it came out in the late eighties (the linked version is a reprint), so not sure how well it's aged. It has stuck with me over the years though. From my recollections, it will hit a number of Starfinder-ey themes.

There is a section of books listed as influences in the SF Core book and several discussions here already.

I'm not at all sure how many of them will feel like Starfinder.
