I attended Gen-Con and all I got was two levels and some good boons

Really good Gen-Con this year. Seating was quick, GMs were on the ball, and the scenarios were fun. I only attended the Saturday special, but it was a lot of fun as well.

The only downsides this year weren't anything Paizo could do anything about. The AC was a bit much, though in the end I didn't need to get my jacket, and the braut stand that used to be outside the Sagamore ballroom was missed.

All in all a very good job this year. Thank you!

Actually, the Brat stand being gone was Paizo's fault....

They got that space as an adjunct sales location for Starfinder product.

But then all of the Starfinder product they had at the show was gone be 3:30 on Thursday, and ICCLOS didn't refill the space with the Brats concession stand, in a move that left unclear but significant money on the table (or going to the food court / food trucks).

Believe me. We GMs missed the brat stand also.

I too secured two levels, 11th for my Flame Oracle, and 14th for my Sound Striker. I hope that without a ridiculous launch title (that we know of) next year will be less hectic and in need of an outside sales booth. That will help allow scheduling for the food stand to return with glorious overpriced noms.

Tonya mentioned that the Brat stand going was GenCon's decision. They just took advantage of the opening.

I went down to a food court area that was next to the Marriott walkway entrance and never had a wait. Even during times that I thought would be busy.

Yes, a longer walk but still able to get to it and back within break limits. And they had more choices than just brats.

The food trucks are a semi-long walk from the Sagamore if you're in a rush, but some of them moved a lot faster than the long lines would lead you to believe.

The Island Noodles stand was both very good and very fast. Despite waiting behind 20ish people, it only took 3 or 4 minutes to get to the front of the line and get my food. Highly recommended for next year, if they're back, especially for vegetarians.

However, as I noted to Fromper over the weekend, there wasn't a guarantee for folks who were busting their ass to make sure they got to their slots 'early on-time' that the lines would move that quickly.

Before folks jump in and say 'get up earlier' that was not a physical possibility due to fatigue conditions needing to be cleared with proper rest.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

you mean the table cloths aren't so the people doing overnights can sleep on the floor under the table instead of on the floor of the hotel room ?

That's why I mentioned Island Noodles specifically. I don't know if other food trucks go that fast, but I'd definitely visit that one again, even if there's a line.
