To whom it may concern,
I'm signed up as a Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber, does that mean I have to wait until I physically pick up the book at GenCon (the option I selected for ease of all parties involved) before the .pdf becomes available, or will it drop when the payment is charged?
Just trying to figure out logistics here, never had a subscription that worked worth a damn in the past (with other retailers) and don't want to mess it up but at same time don't want to lose out having to wait if I don't have to?

My understanding is that you should get access to the PDF when your payment is processed. The last estimate I saw posted was that that would be Monday or Tuesday in Paizo's timezone, due to code issues. Since bugs are involved in delaying things, that's just an estimate.
Typically, your PDF is granted when your order is shipped (or probably more accurate to say when the shipping label for your order is printed). See this FAQ. You get an email when notifying you of the shipment. It will say something like "A package containing X items from Paizo Order #XXXXXXX is expected to ship from the Paizo warehouse by ##/##/####.
With GenCon pickup, they will basically do a run of all the orders that are marked for pickup, just like they would for orders that would be shipped. It is at that point that your payment will be charged and your PDF granted. See this thread. They had been hoping to do this process this past Friday, but things didn't work out as planned.

Both of the above posters are correct.
PDFs are granted to your account when the shipping label is printed. This is also when you are charged, and when you receive the shipping email. With unique orders this is usually the last part of the shipping process, so you may hear it referred to as, "when your order ships".
With subscriptions we do what we call 'label runs'. This means we print the shipping labels for all identical orders at once before we do anything else. So if you have a subscription you will likely get the email, be charged, and get access to the PDFs days before your order ships out. This is how subscribers were starting to get access to their PDFs last week.
For con pickup we do something similar to a label run (only there are no shipping labels printed). We generate and finalize the orders all at once. You are charged for the order, receive an email confirmation, and get access to the PDFs at that time. We are hoping to do that today or tomorrow.

The code roll for the fix on Gen Con orders is not going to happen until Wednesday. I am going to be ensuring that subscribers choosing to get their items at Gen Con get their PDFs today as soon as I am in the office (currently waiting on a service appointment at home). I apologize for the delay.
This process has already started, so depending on which subscriptions you have you may see some of the PDFs on your My Downloads page now (we are still working on granting some of them, so you may not see the maps or Core Rulebook yet).
