Strong Orb! Wise Orb! I call upon you for your knowledge.

Question One: What are, if any, the rules for generating star systems to explore?

Question Two: During Drift travel, what chances are there of catastrophic danger?

Question Three: How are Resolve Points regained? Also, is there a critical wound table that involves limb loss? Gotta get my players to invest in cybernetics somehow!

I'm not the orb, but...

3: Eight hours of rest. Most other means to regain resolve are high level- themes generally get an 18th level ability to recover up to two, and Technomancer regains resolve by casting sixth level spells from sixth level spell slots.

3.5: Wounding weapons have a 20% chance or so to cut off a limb on a crit if the target fails a save. Vorpal weapons push that to more like 36%.

Question One: Information is given on the various parameters, but it is up to you to work out the combination for a particular planet where you want your players to adventure.

Question Two: Encounter chances vary from 1% to 50% (I think) based on destination (with longer travel times resulting in higher chances of encounters).

Question Three: Already answered.

What feats are typically good for Mystics and Technomancers? Other than Spell Focus.

Oh mighty orb, what can you tell us of the detective specialization and the bounty hunter and merc themes? Looking to build a kasathan cop-turned-bounty hunter

The Detective uses Sense Motive for their trick attacks, and gets some interesting divination abilities that are extraordinary, rather than supernatural.

You'd probably want Bounty Hunter for your Kasatha. The Mercenary theme is more about military experience, whereas the Bounty Hunter theme compliments a sleepless detective well, helping you track down specific individuals.

Excellent! had a feeling that might be the case. Just need to find out which ability score gets a bonus from the bounty hunter and I'll be the happiest of campers. Thank you almighty orb!

So which ability score do Kasatha have a penalty to?

Intelligence. They're just a little behind the other races in terms of technological development.
Is that really the reason? Kasathas were here in a generation ship before the rest of the solar system knew what tech was. They had FTL (but of course not Drift tech) and have tech that lets them view memories from slices of brain. They have a minus to intelligence? I find that baffling. Not to doubt the Orb. But that's confusing.

The Kasatha in Pathfinder were brought to Golarion by the Androffans, the Idari came much later, after The Gap. Perhaps they were following the path of the Divinity?

The Orb doesn't know for certain why they have lower intelligence, the technology was just a stray observation. With the different way ability scores work, it may be that Kasathas simply don't produce great minds as frequently as the Lashunta do (innovation is bound to be a bit slower in a race that values tradition so much), but a bright Kasatha need be no less intelligent than her Lashunta counterpart.

As for the Bounty Hunter theme, it...

The answers provided by the omnipotent orb are most impressive! If I may be so bold as to ask again, how does the new power attack (Deadly Aim?) work? I hear it is a trap but no nothing of it

Deadly Aim -2 attack, +1/2 BAB damage

Seems pretty good once your BAB is 4+

Oh Mighty Orb,
I've heard rumors that a PF character is present in Eox. Is it true? And if yes, who?

IIRC Amanda Kunz said that the final boss of Dead Suns is a converted Pathfinder character.

Considering how often I've seen her die I'm hoping it is Janira. There is clearly major resources being spent to keep her alive.

I don't think it is the whispering tyrant.

Is fireball in the game?

You would be wrong because the two pages about Eox mention no specific Pathfinder-era characters at all. If any such characters are mentioned anywhere, it would most likely not be in the core rulebook. Other messages in this thread seem to be hinting at later volumes in the first adventure path (maybe).

No, the equivalent spell is explosive blast. It works a bit differently.

Is there a feat that works similarly to Improved Unarmed Strike? Is there any way to build a character who resembles PF monk at least in some aspects?

Apparently, you can also make the Solarion more monk-like by flavoring your Solar Blade as empowering your unarmed strikes.

Doh! Sorry, it wasn't in the Core book, it's in Dead suns 1.

It's Ungarato, the swordbayonet of Gluttony

Oh gracious Orb, what are the racial stats for the vesk, and how much health do they get?

Orby Mc Orbison...I may have missed it but what archetypes are in the core rule book and what do they do more or less? I realize that they are not class specific. Thanks. :)

Phrenic Adept, which picks up some minor psychic abilities at level 2 and slowly adds to them as they level up (sometimes with stuff like bonuses to resist psychic attacks, sometimes with new spell like abilities), and Starfinder Forerunner, which gives you some abilities that would come in handy when exploring new worlds. Phrenic Adept gets you stuff at levels 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, and 18, while Starfinder Forerunner only has stuff at 2, 4, and 6.

The Bombard specialization is focused on using grenades and heavy weapons that lob explosives. You hit lots of enemies at once, and hit hard.

The Android Abolitionist Front is a network of secret agents fighting illegal android slavery (since androids are legally persons in the Pact Worlds, and slavery is illegal). There's a small radical fringe that believes the Pact Worlds' definition of sentience for machines is too strict, and seeks to "liberate" other forms of machine intelligence.

The Augmented are a social movement more than anything. People who embrace augmentations to reach a more advanced state of being (seeing cybernetic modification as the next step in evolution). There are some radicals in this movement too, who are bent on "upgrading" everyone whether they want it or not.

The Aspis Consortium has become a mega-corporation, who are willing to do just about anything to increase the bottom line.

Shelyn is mentioned as Zon-Kuthon's brother. She's a bit more distant with her followers these days, some think she's off trying to find a way to help him.

Considering that one of the Pathfinder APs involves a short trip to 1910s Earth and Starfinder occurs long long after that:

Any mention of a hyper advanced earthling stellar empire? Or the ruins of such an empire?

I would say that 1910 Earth is in a parallel universe, not a different part of the Golarion galaxy.

Quote:
slavery is illegal

Huh. That's a big change between the 'Finders.

It was almost fetishized in Golarion, except in Nidal, where it actually was.

Earth just has to be in a different galaxy to be beyond the reach of a Drift Drive.

Slavery is illegal in pathfinder too in most places iirc .-. At least all of the good aligned nations(unless there is some exception I forget about), in some of neutrals its a thing and in pretty much every evil nation its a thing.

BTW, since necromancy isn't evil by nature in Starfinder and Eoxians are a thing, does that mean its not illegal anymore? I mean in Pathfinder necromancy was illegal(learning it apparently isn't evil, but using is? Its weird) pretty much everywhere except Geb and evil nations.

Yeah, way back when Dou-Bral got turned into Zon-Kuthon and she's been trying to save him ever since.

I don't remember all of them, but the coolest is an armor mod slot for themselves.

They also have exceptional vision.

That is cool! So you can install a jetpack into yourself? Are there ability score modifiers as well, or darkvision?

Android have a bonus to DEX and INT, and a penalty to CHA.
The count as the worst of humanoid and construct for effects, but have a bonus on saves versus most effects that affect biological systems. They do not breathe or suffer from being in a vaccuum.

They are bad at reading emotions, but also hard to read.

You could install a jetpack in an android.

Are there rules for fuel in starships? What about ships food/water stores? I intend to run a survivalist campaign (no rings of sustenance) about explorers colonising the fringes and resource micromanagement is a great tool.

No rules for starship stores for crew food/water or fuel. Starship construction/design is limited by how much power can be supplied, but that amount of power never runs out. You'll have to house rule it for now.

For those among us slowly boiling within over the idea the Theme bonus to ability score is never going to equate to a Modifier bonus, is there any way in the book to pair off the bonus without its existence being effectively nullified?

A case of the bonus being nullified (or effectively nullified) is something like how score increases every 5 levels will take one from 16 to 18, but also 17 to 18.

The theme bonuses are useful for qualifying for feats, heavy armor requires 13 str.

citricking wrote:

Given ability score increases at every 5 levels makes this redundant, this is only really an argument if you want to get the feat early.

... In the case you give, if you don't really care for getting heavy armour until like... 10th level... Then one shouldn't see a need for this.
