Weapon Focus - Non-Ray Ranged Touch Attacks?

Rules Questions

If I use a Spell like Battering Blast

Quote:
You hurl a fist-sized ball of force resembling a sphere of spikes to ram a designated creature or object. You must succeed on a ranged touch attack to strike your target. On a successful hit, you deal 1d6 points of force damage per two caster levels (maximum 5d6). For every 5 caster levels you possess beyond 5th, you gain a second ball of force.

Battering Blast PFSRD

Can I take Weapon Focus "Thrown Ranged Touch Attacks" or Thrown Force Attacks" or would it have to be "Weapon Focus Battering Blast"?

Thanks

"Weapon Focus: Ranged Touch", afaik.

Weapon Focus
Choose one type of weapon. You can also choose unarmed strike or grapple (or ray, if you are a spellcaster) as your weapon for the purposes of this feat.

Weapon Focus applies only to weapons, plus unarmed strike, grapple and ray. Battering Blast and any other non-ray ranged touch attack spells are not weapons, unarmed strike grapple or ray so weapon focus cannot be taken for them.

I stand corrected.

As I understand it, there was a popular book in 3.5 called Complete Arcane that expanded the list of choices to include Touch Spells and Ranged Touch Spells, but that this wasn't part of the core rules that got imported into Pathfinder. I think a lot of people who played 3.5 just assumed that those options were still there.
