Samurai class

Advice

What are your thoughts on the Samurai? my GM said Races and classes are restricted only to first party, but be considerate of the setting with your character. We will be playing CotCT, would this character suit this campaign and is a Samurai a first party class?

Silver Crusade

Yes, the Samurai from Ultimate Combat (a Paizo product) is a First Party (Paizo) product.

Will it suit the campaign? Possibly, it would depend on what backstory and motivation you give them, just like all classes.

Well, samurai was printed in a paizo book, specifically ultimate combat, so yes, it is first party. that said samurai are a bit rare outside of the dragon kingdoms, but s traveler or wandering ronin could work fairly well. Since they are an alternate cavalier, they work fairly well for an urban/intrigue game, which CotCT is. Of course, the best advice I can offer is take the question directly to your GM, and if need be work with them to create a character that does fit

Mechanically, samurai are an extremely strong melee class as well. Particularly, their re-roll ability using resolve means they get two tries at Fort and Will saves, which are typically the ones that really matter. They can negate critical hits at higher levels too. Add that onto a package with some free exotic weapon proficiencies and bonus feats and they're a class that's packed with options.

About the only complaint I'd have with the class is the relatively poor selection of archetypes.

perfect thanks guys, just one last question could a witch work in this campaign?

Ask around. Look for CotCT PbP games and ask the GMs their opinions.
